    What Is Your Signal?

    Do people only get a warning sign after they have been filled. I am 5 weeks post op with no fill and I havent had a sign line that yet. I also only eat a cup of food per meal so I may not be eating enough for a stop signal which is fine by me.
  2. I am 1 month post up started to eat solid knife and fork food. However since I started soft foods and solid foods, my stomach makes a bunch on growling sounds to no end. It must be the food moving through the band and digestion noises its so loud. But i also have ass gas farting like theres no tommorow every time I move or bend or twist or turn and its not the usual stink farts its just air escaping why is this so and how can I stop it.

    Bariatric Buffet Pricing

    I would be interested in knowing this as well. We have planned a summer vaca to Lancaster county; and you know the rest of the family would like to go to these family style smorgasbord type places. I don't mind going but i hate the idea of paying full price when I am not going to be eating s full share. In a restaurant I don't care as much I can take home leftovers but in a place like this it irks me.

  5. I feel the same way I've lost 20lbs since the 1 week pre op diet and the 1.5 week liquid diet post op. I have been on semi solid foods for a week and a half now and I can't seem to lose any more, I gain and lose the same 1lb. It is very frustrating maybe need to kick the exercise up. But the good thing is I am satisfied with less food I just wish the scale reflected it.

  7. I started semi solid food this past week. My whole meal should be 3oz. in total. and eat slow and chew and chew. so during my meal I am trying to find when i feel satisfied but I don't know when that is considering I've spent so many years eating so fast and so much I would just eat till i was stuffed and then I knew I had enough. So hopefully i will learn in time what satisfied feels like. Any thoughts?
  8. Last Friday I started soft foods/mushy stage. I do have the willpower to follow the offices nutrition plan but I am worried that I will gain weight. I go back in a month to see if I need my first fill. Anyone else feel like this?
  9. I also had mine done at a center of excellence. I'm only 2 weeks out but I couldnt be happier with the level of care I have recieved.

    Ideas For Mushy, Help!

    Didn't you get a food plan from the nutrionist at the surgeons office. I am 2 weeks post op I have lost 20lbs. so far. Yesterday was my 2 week follow up and I started mushy food yesterday. I have a sample menu plan I can tell you some of the things that are on it are pretty good. So along with the egg salad and tuna and chicken salad we can eat, there is things like 2slices of thin deli meat, chili, mushy fruit like honeydew and strawberries. metalballs anything in a gravy or sauce not drenched in it. the NP at the practice said anthing that can be mashed with the back of a fork.
  11. I had my 2 week post op visit today. My scars are healing very nicely and my 2 week post op liquid diet was cut so this afternoon I started soft food. I am very happy with my progress so far.

    2 Week Post Op Visit

    I had 3 soft food meals today. 2oz chicken salad 1 slice of cheese. 2oz sliced turkey breast 2 tablespoons apple sauce. Then I had 2oz of chili with 1oz. grated cheese and 6 saltine crackers. Surprising they were all filling.
  13. I just read the article. I honestly don't know what to think. My Dr.s' office recommends that once we are on solid food it should be a cup of food. 3oz protein 3oz non starchy veg and then 2oz starch if there is room protein always first. But they also said the same thing in the article about taking a bite chew for 20sec wait a minute take another bite and no meal should be more than 20 minutes but that's a whole cup of food not a 1/2 cup. It really is very confusing because honestly if I went through this just to take 20 bites of food I made a big mistake. I got the band so I could live by the food guidelines like the food pyramid and what nutrionists say is a healthy portion of food such as what I described above. According to the amt of food I'm allowed it should take me 40 min- 60 min. to complete a meal. I really think the medical profession should adopt a standard across the board and adhere to it. I know internally every one is diff. But at least we would all have the same baseline. Thanks for reading I know it was long sorry.
  14. Be healthy for myself my wife and my kids. I have 2 daughters I have a responsibility to walk them down the aisle some day. To not have to shop at causal male, there is nothing causal about it. To not have my band so tight that I can not eat a sensible portion of food. To eat some unhealthy stuff as well just not the whole bag, box, carton etc. To have more energy to workout and get fit not just get thinner by losing weight. And..... To have unbelievable amazing SEX with my wife who I adore.

    Baked Egg With Hummus - Recipe

    That looks awesome. I am going to try it once I get to soft food stage. Then once I get to solid food stage all I need to do is add bacon and it would be perfect.
  20. I have my surgery set for Monday Jan. 30th. @ 9am. I have to be at the hospital by 7:30am. I know i will eat again and I know I will eat everything o eat before the band just in a smaller more controlled portion. If this tool can help me with the snacking i do at night i am sure i will be succesful with it and with losing weight. will it stop me everynight no, wll it stop me 8 out 10 yeah probably i can live with that.
  21. Congrats that's awesome your doing so well. I am being banded on Monday. I hope I do as well as you and I'm glad to see you eat real food and real sized portions of food as opposed to all the horror stories I see on here. May I ask you if your band is filled or not.

    Reasonable Lap Band Restriction

    I agree with the original post. I'm not banded yet I will be jan 30th. I feel the same way and if that means I'm slightly less filled then so be it. I do not want to be at the level of restriction where I eat 1 oz of protein and a teaspoon of veggies and call it a meal. I want to be able to eat a 3oz portion of protein a few teaspoons of veggies and then if there's room a teaspoon or 2 of carbs. To me that is a healthy meal with feeling deprived. I also want to be able to eat a sushi roll and be satisfied.
  25. I will be meeting with my Dr. Next week to discuss the issue. My dr. Just started doing these and I was offered to be put into the trial to have it done. The NP said the main benefit is the rate of weight loss is faster. I don't think that alone is a reason to have it done. Am I missing something
