Sept. 2010 Bandsters !!!
lifesaver4 replied to Brian-LA's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Ebeeze, i also got so discouraged because it took forever to feel any tightness. But in april my friend who was tight from the start and lost 95 lbs in 3 months had to have her band taken out permanently. because it completely eroded into her stomach. In part it was because she was to tight for so long and so i realized that if i slowly tightened my band and slowly lost it, i would be further ahead. I watched her struggle throughout her journey of being able to eat anything and how easy to have to purge it. I have not had to much problem with that unless i get way to tight. What size is your band? I had a flouro finally done to see where i really was and when we got in there i had 1,5 cc's less then they said , so i was not messing up like they made me feel , i truly was not filled like they thought. Since being tightened i have done so much better. So good luck with your fill and just try to be mindful of what you are eating for? HUnger or something else??. Best of luck to you! -

Hi Ebeeze, i also just passed my band date and i am down just 36 lbs and i struggle to keep there, but one thing i know is all of us have a different journey and like someone else said on here normally by now i would have put it all back on + more. AI also am struggling with hunger again so it is time for a fill, i currently am at 11 out of 14 but i can tell that i am no longer tight. I know it is hard to read all these posts that have lost so much but i just keep hanging on to the fact that my journey is mine and i can't compare myself to everyone else. Maybe check for a fill and also if you have an IPHONE or computer there is a site called lose it that is so easy to track what you are eating an excercise i love it. It has helped me track everything so much better , also it works on droids to. Keep on truckin and trying to do the next right thing when it comes to your health. We can do this, remember we did not go thru this surgery and journey just to fail! Try talking to yourself more positively about the amount you have lost, positive works so much better in the long run. Also shout out to all of you who have done so awesome KEEP IT UP! -

Ok all of you who think that you have had slow weight loss, just don't know what slow is! lol I was banded on 9/17/10 and as of date i have lost approx 30 lbs. Now that is slow. I am trying to hang in there and keep plugging away but it is hard when you are doing all the right things and you are still not losing. I just went and had another fill so i am at 11 out of 14 and i feel some tighter but still don't think i have hit my sweet spot. I am not as hungry as before but still have hunger within usually 2 to 3 hours. I just got done with the 5 day pouch test and i do think that it helped some, i lost another 5 on it, so that is good. I plan on keep plugging away till i lose this weight but it does get discouraging. I will join the sept challenge, i hope to be down another 10 lbs by my anniversary. Everyone keep plugging away as my Dr says this is not a race, this is a lifestyle change, so it needs to be slow and gradual. I figure as long as i keep losing i am happy. I did not get this way overnight ( even tho i would like to convince myself i did) so it is going to take some time to take it off and keep it off. That is ultimately the real goal, to KEEP IT OFF! Good luck to everyone on achieving your goals! -

Hi Ebeeze, please don't give up and go for gastric, it is a life and body altering procedure. Just stick with this banding, it may come off slower but at least it is coming off! Visit with your Dr. about your frustration and also how full is your band, it just might not be to your sweet spot yet!??? As a nurse i just really hate to see you do the gatric bypass, it cannot be undone! -

I so understand that, i still think my band is not tight enough, i can feel the food just pass on thru and not stay in pouch very long. I plan on another fill next month. How tight are you in your band, can you eat more then 1 cup at a time? I know when i can do this that i am not tight because my friend cannot eat more then a cup and she feels full for 6 hrs or longer. I get hungry in about 2 hrs so i know i can not be tight enough!] -

Pooky , I sure understand your frustration, i was banded on sept 17 and to date have only loss 30 and i read on here that others have lost way more and then i read what they are eating and i cannot believe i am not losing better! I also ordered the 5 day pouch test, i have not started it yet till my 5 yr old granddaughter leaves. I had a fluro done 2 months ago and everything looks good and i lost 6 lbs right off but now not able to lose any! So disappointing! I pretty much feel like a failure again at weight loss\ -
Hi, i was banded 9/17/10 and weighed 320. I have only at this point lost 26 pounds and i seriously think i am totally messing up but not sure how? I have tracked my food and eat mostly protein first and veggies next. I avoid breads, sweets, carbs and i gave up pop. I am so over the top frustrated as to why i am not losing. I drink lots of water , but lately i have just become so why do it , it won't work , so i am back to pop , i still avoid carbs and bread and sweets. I had a fluro on april 16th and was found to not be tight even at 8.0 , so they increased me to 10.5 and i have not lost. I can feel the food just sliding thru and i remain hungry? Has anyone else had trouble this way, any suggestions, i am so frustrated with the whole thing!

Thanks Lisa, i was 320 when i was evaluated and 319 day of surgery 9/17/10 and now i am 300. I am writing everything down now so i can see what i am eating and what i am doing! I do go to pool 2 x week right now and walk at least 1 1/2 hours and due to back and knee and foot problems i have to be careful to not overdo it or i can't walk at all, so the pool works right now for me until i can get my weight down. I think i am worried that the dr will not give me more fills without the UGI and i do not have insurance and i also do not have any symptoms of esophageal stretching and i still get hunger about 2 hours after eting meal. These all appear to be signs i am not to my sweet spot. I appreciate all your advice, just nervous about not getting to my sweet spot. Nor sure how to handle the DR. in this case. -

SO FRUSTRATED WAS BANDED 9/17/10 AND HAVE ONLY LOST 19 LBS. I HAVE HAD TO FIGHT FOR EVERY POUND. I STILL EXPERIENCE TRUE HUNGER AND WHEN I WENT FOR MY LAST FILL 2/24/11 THEY INDICATED THAT THEY THOUGHT I WAS AS HIGH AS THEY WANTED TO FILL ME WHICH IS 9.8 BUT THE DR INDICATED THEY THOUGHT I MIGHT HAVE ESOPHAGEAL STRETCHING., I DO NOT HAVE ANY SYMPTOMS BUT THEY WENT AHEAD AND GAVE ME SMALL FILL SO NOW AT 10.2 AND STILL 12 TO 14 DAYS LATER I START TO FEEL HUNGER IN ABOUT 2 HOURS., THEY WANT TO DO UGI BUT I HAVE NO INSURANCE AND I JUST FEEL LIKE I HAVE NOT HIT MY SWEET SPOT. THE DR SAID I AM ONE OF THE HIGHEST FILLS THEY HAVE? I HAVE A 14 CC BAND. ANY SUGGESTIONS OR HELP, SO FRUSTRATED BECUZ I AM TRULY WORKING THE PROGRAM MOSTLY PROTEIN AND , VEG NO FRUIT OR CARBS -

hi, so frustrated in Nebraska. I had my lap band surgery 9/17/10 in Denver Co, did not get a fill till October 20 and did not have restriction, think i lost 3 lbs first month and then continued Nov lost 3 and then in dec gained 3 and then Jan lost .2 and got a fill. I have a realize 14cc band and in Jan i was at 9.8 and still having hunger issues. I have followed the protein first, barely have carbs and do not drink pop, eat sweets and when i went in feb i was down 6 but here is my problem, still having hunger issues and the PA did not want to give me another fill becuz she said i really was at the top of what they like to put in the band and so she wanted me to do an UGI to see if my esophagus was stretched. Has anyone else experienced this, i convinced her to give me another fill so she filled me to 10,2 and indicated i will not get another. I was at 320 when i started and now 5 months later down a whole 20, i seem to always get to 300 on a diet and cannot get any lower. I am so disappointed in myself but i keep trying to figure out what i am doing wrong, i gave up eating all those things to only lose 20 lbs, have i maybe still not hit my sweet spot? Help any suggestions???

hi september bandsters! i had surgery sept 17th and did not have too much difficulty, started having hunger by week3. i got my first fill oct 20th, 5cc in 14cc band. at this point i have only lost 9 lbs, i keep thinking maybe i am doing something wrong, i have read so many of your posts and most have lost way more? i am sticking with mainly protein for all meals and snacks. the day i had my first fill it felt like someone slammed me in the chest, now i feel no restriction, and i don't go back till nov 18th, i thought weight loss would be much more by now. do you have any suggestions? so frustrated!!:wink2: -
Starting to regret my decision...
lifesaver4 replied to Herraven's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery 9/17/10 and i also was nauseated and having trouble eating. But i kept on taking my pain med and making sure i got water and protein shakes and after a week it passed! So hang in there and have faith that this is the tool to finally lose this weight! -
I HAD SURGERY 9/17/10 AND I AM NOW 6 DAYS OUT. I CONTINUE TO WAKE UP WITH NAUSEA , NO VOMITING BUT JUST URPY EVERY MORNING, I AM STRUGGLING WITH GETTING ENOUGH PROTEIN IN EACH DAY AS FIRST OF ALL I HAVE NO HUNGER BUT ALSO BECAUSE OF THE NAUSEA. I THINK THAT I THOUGHT I WOULD COME OUT OF THIS SURGERY WITH LITTLE OR NO PAIN AND BOY WAS I WRONG. CONTINUE TO HAVE MILD DISCOMFORTING PAIN AT INCISION SITES. I AM HAVING REACTION TO STERISTRIPS BUT DO NOT WANT TO REMOVE AS I HAVE HEALING PROBLEMS AS WITH PAST SURGERIES. I HAVE LOST 11 POUNDS SO FAR AND AM THRILLED BY THAT. I JUST KEEP TURNING ALL OVER TO GOD KNOWING THAT HE IS THE ONLY WAY TO HANDLE ALL THIS,,, HE IS THE TRUTH AND THE ANSWER FOR ME! I DO NOT WANT TO RELIE ON ME OR THE FOOD BECAUSE IT HAS ALWAYS FAILED ME BUT GOD NEVER HAS! THIS SURGERY IS MY AWESOME TOOL THAT GOD HAS PROVIDED ME AND I WANT TO WORK IT LIKE IT IS A TOOL NOT THE ANSWER. I WANT TO SUCCEED!
