What are the signs the band has slipped???
GipsyGirl posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just read a lot of threads here and I have been really hungry and coughing a lot since I have a flu right now... I just do not know what signs I have to look for to possibly consider that my band has slipped since I read the story when someone had a flu and an empty stomach their band slipped. I heard it is something very serious and you have to go for an emergency surgery and stuff like that. How do you know? :frown: What are some signs? Did anyone here had that happen and why - what did you do wrong for it to slip? Thanks for your input. -
Sorry to hear that.

hey its better than my co-worker. She constantly reminded me to be very careful about eating right things because a friend of a friend died because of lap band. Before i started researching the band consequences I was terrified by what she was telling me.

Yeah it is a hard topic. I actually forgot I made a new thread about it and while I was scanning through thread it caught my attention since I do have that problem every day so I opened it to only realize it was created by me. I like her a lot, she is also my neighbor and we go places. Lately, though we would see each other maybe once a week when we have seen each other every day before. Maybe its just because it is so cold outside.

I take prozac too - it IS nasty. All that white powder just sticks to your tongue. It is bitter and slimy. Eeew. But I need it. So, I better shut up and take it as a grown up. There! I said it!

I am bipolar and I am happy I can finally admit it. I was diagnosed 2 years ago and I have finally found a good doctor who figured out the right conbinations of drugs about 8 months ago. Before it was hell. I went to a hospital here and they told me that they do not band bipolar people. I left like I was discriminated against. I felt like there was something wrong with me. It is a disease that we have to be sensitive about and people just toss us into the whole - you are mental - thing. When I went to another hospital they did not care whether I am BP or not - I did have to go through psychological evaluation thought and I passed it. The reason they gave me at the hospital where they rejected me over me being BP was that we go through a lot of phases and we could stop taking medications or follow the instructions. Screw them. One thing that worries me is that while I am loosing weight I will recall things that happened in my life when I was that size. I am 24, female. I have a great boyfriend who went through hell to be with me, no matter how many times I rejected him. He is very understanding and constantly researching books and internet for BP treatment and response from our loved one. How to deal with it and what not to do to cause a shift. Now that I am stable I feel very good and out relationship stopped being a roller coaster. Yesterday my doctor told me that in the start he wasnt sure if he could help me now, he said, he is very proud of me because I am working hard on being mentally healthy. Lap Band was another thing to look forward to because being BP made me depressed about my weight and how people reacted towards me. Thanks for reading my rumbling.

Should prostitution be legal?
GipsyGirl replied to Carrie_C's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I would say make it legal and tax it heavily - our budget will rise really quickly then. -
How long after surgery did you start having sex again?
GipsyGirl replied to Moo's topic in The Gals' Room

that is the same thing I am going through. I could eat anything and there are the first 4 weeks of my post op. I am anxious. When I go to see my doc for a fill I will ask him to do that x-ray where you have to drink barium and they can see how it goes through... I really need some self assurance.

Still in the honeymoon phase
GipsyGirl replied to MaineJackie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
well I am 4 weeks post op. I lost 28lbs and have been stuck twice. One time I got stuck on a hardboiled egg and second time on a crabstick. It is a very heavy feeling. It feels like someone is twisting your stomack so the food wants to come out. I didn't womit but I tried to squeeze my throat so I little bit of food goes back up for a moment - that helped. Just do not forget to chew chew chew and small bites... don't eat doughy stuff - that is the main cause of being stuck. And about being hungry - I was starving 1 week post op so doctor put me on phentermine - it works beautifully. I am waiting for my first fill now to get off the diet pill. Hey - good luck! We all have so much to look forward to. -
What has been your weight loss?
GipsyGirl replied to 4them's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

24lbs in first 4 weeks... why so fast in the start?
GipsyGirl posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I have been very surprised on how fast I am loosing weight. I haven't had my 5 week fill and I already lost 24lbs. I presume it is leap at the start and then it goes down to 2-4lbs a week? I wish it wouldn't stop. I could reach my goal in 5 months or so. So, how soon will I stop loosing so rapidly - how did it happen to you? -
Post-op hiccups normal?
GipsyGirl replied to hopeful07's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
that is interesting - I had the same experience. -
Wow - 100 reasons is awesome... I printed that one out, put it on facebook and sent it to my boyfriend. I bet he will like the second reason.

It is different for all of us. In my case I went from liquid to solid food diet because I was very, very, very hungry. So, doctor put me on phentermine to curb my appetite. I only had 4 days to recover and it was more that enough for me since they gave me 30 pain pills. I am sure that when I have my fill I will try to follow all the directions I should have before. But, I can eat almost anything ( I got stuck only twice - one on a boiled egg and second time on a crab meat stick ) and still loose weight. Maybe it is band + appetite suppresant. Anyways - I wish I could keep loosing like I did on the first weeks but people say it is unsafe and usually it goes down to 1-2lbs a week which is the safest way to do it. I am excited but also nervous. For you - try some calorie free pop sickles - they have such a variety of tastes now and it will give your tong some pleasure.
