If you haven't had surgery yet what are you most afraid of?
Fatty McFatster replied to mimorison's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have several fears such as dying and them finding other medical problems (i.e. cancer), but I fear weight regain the most. I currently have the lap band. Lost 115 pounds. Had complications and gained it all back. So, now they have to do a band to sleeve revision. So, yes...weight regain is my worst fear. I just want to lose weight and keep it off. -

Thanks again for your kind words. You have been so very thoughtful. As far as depression treatments, I have been on about 50+ different meds and none of them have ever helped. I have been told that I just don't respond to meds, so I am kind of on my own. As far as a therapist, I had a REALLY good one, but then I moved away and got married and haven't been able to find one I like yet. I have suffered from depression sicne childhood due to abusive parents and have been on disability because of it since 2004. My wife is very compassionate and accepting of my lot in life and very loving when I am down. However, she can't help much in the weight department as she also struggles with weight issues, but doesn't want/ can't afford the lapband. Mine was covered 100% through Medicare or I wouldn't have been able to get it. We actually just got back from a 7-day Caribbean cruise! YAY! But now back to real life. Again, THANK YOU for your kind words!!! Thank you so much! Your kind words are very meaningful! And you can do ANYTHING!!! Good luck! When do you get banded? -

Thank you Cheri! Very kind of you! I have Major Clinical Depression also and I am sad to say that there has been no difference in my depression I thought there would be, but I still feel the same about myself. I still feel fat, ugly, and unloveable, BUT thank you for your kind words. They brought a smile to my face -

Thank you! Much appreciated! And actually I couldn't cause much trouble because I have only been overweight for around 6-7 years and most people know me as skinny. So, I could have got away with more when I was overweight. I guess I should have thought of that. lol. First, no I don't "feel" a lot thinner. I stil feel fat and unloveable. I think our weightloss comes much faster than our self-esteem. Second, I lost my 100 pounds in 1 year, so that is about 2 pounds per week. Third, I changed numerous things about my diet and exercise. I do not drink any soda, NO bread, very little meat, NO fast food, smaller portions, lots of Water, exercise 4-5 days a week, etc. All of it combined with tha band has helped me get here. Thank you! I am glad I took them for comparison reasons, but they still embarrass me every time I see them. They make for a good story though Thank you! And GOOD LUCK on your upcoming surgery!!! Thanks. October 21st is my wedding anniversary, so very good day. Hope all went well with your husband...and hope your surgery gets lined up soon. Good luck to you both! Hahaha. Thanks Thank you very much! Yeah, taking before pics is hard because we are at our worst both physically and mentally (as far as self-esteem). I set the camera up myself. I didn't dare let anyone take such vulnerable pics of me. Thanks very much! Sorry to hear about yoru band infection, but glad you are on your way towards being re-banded. Much success to you! Thank you! And CONGRATS to you as well!! -

Thank you! I have had to have 2 fills in a matter of 2 weeks before also. No problem with that! THANK YOU! I had 6 fills since I was banded less than a year ago on Nov. 3, 2010. I have the large 14cc band and think I have about 10.5 cc's in it. But I don't pay much attention to that because there is no magic number. It is different for everyone. Some people lost lots of weight with NO fills or maybe just 1-2 fills. Some take 8-10. Everyone is different, but for me that is what worked. Though, I am starting to loosen up again and need to go in for another adjustment. Thanks...I think. LOL. -
How much have you taken off???

I have lost exactly 100 pounds in 11 months so far. My 1 year comes up on November 3rd. -

Thank you! I appreciate it! And good luck to you!!! As far as types of exercise. A year ago (before LapBand), I could NOT walk to the mailbox without becoming winded and having bad back and knee joint pain. However, once I had surgery I decided to start walking. On the first day I walked to the mailbox 2 times. Next day 3 times. Then 5 times and then 10 times. Then I started walking down the streat I lived on for 1/2 mile then a full mile. Every week I would push myself further. Now I can walk 10 miles no porblem AND I can now RUN 1 mile straight. So, I mostly walk, but do run a little on occasion (though my knees still give me fits) and I use an elliptical machine when it is raining outside. As far as loose skin, please refer to my pics and tell me what you think. I don't think it is terribly loose, but I don't know how loose it is supposed to be. I do lift weights several times a week, which helps. Not really heavy weights...just enough to tone. I haven't done as much toning as I should and I HATE crunches. I am sure my midsection would be much tighter had I been doing crunches over the last year. So, you might want to consider that. Thank you so much! I appreciate it! I was and still am very afraid of the camera. I posted my pics for my Facebook friends and one of them said "WOW you were FAT", so that hurt. BUT we should be proud of the direction we are going and that we are trying to make a difference. Thanks NJGirl32! MUCH appreciate the compliments! I turn 35 in December, but how old do I look? Thank you! I honestly couldn't have done it without all of the encouragement! -
WOW! Way to go!!! We are both having a GREAT week! I just hit my 100 pounds lost mark on Wednesday!
