Band to Sleeve lose more slowly?

I lost 115 pounds during the first year that I had the band. Unfortunately, I slowly started gaining the weight back and complications eventually forced me to have the band emptied (and I gained all of my weight back). On November 20th I will be having the band to sleeve revision surgery. I would LOVE to have the same weight loss during the first year as I did with the band, but I am thinking it will be slower this time around. I would still be happy with 1 pound a week though because at least that would have me headed in the right direction.
  3. I'm on November 20th!!!

    Here I am...again...starting anew.

Thanks so much for the support and vote of confidence bellabloom. I really appreciate it!!!
  5. Here I am...AGAIN...embarrassed, disappointed, and ashamed...but I am starting anew. By background: I was always very active for most of my life (farming, basketball, weight training, intramural sports, and high school/ college marching bands) and at 5' 11" tall, I weighed between 165-185 pounds during my "lean" years. BUT about 12 years ago that all changed. I started packing on the pounds due to various physical and emotional reasons. I tried countless diets, exercises, pills, and weight-loss fads, but to no avail. The number on the scale kept rising. I don't know what clicked...maybe it was being diagnosed with the beginning stages of Congestive Heart Failure...but sometime during the middle of 2010 I took the plunge and had Lap-Band weight loss surgery on November 3, 2010. I worked hard to lose the weight with help from the Lap-Band, exercise, and the support of my wife, friends, and extended family. I did great and lost 115 pounds within 2 years... Unfortunately, the weight loss didn't last. I began to develop ulcers and other gastro issues and began to gain weight back (even though I had good restriction). I eventually had to have the band completely emptied...which resulted in me gaining all of my weight back (and more). So, here I am...AGAIN... I am currently in the process of having the Gastric Sleeve revision surgery. I have gone to another seminar, filled out all of the necessary paperwork, turned in medical records, and have my nutrition and mental health evaluations scheduled for next week. So, I should be having my surgery sometime in the next 4 weeks or so...fingers crossed. I want to zip-line, go on hikes, ride in airplanes, and buy whatever clothes I want (and not be limited by the poor selections in Big & Tall sections). I have a lot more living and dreaming to do, so I am ready to do the work to lose the weight again. Any support and advice is much appreciated. Thanks for listening.
  6. Hi Fatty, what made you take the step band to sleeve? I had my band out in May 2015 and I am gaining weight like crazy but I just can't make my mind up to go the surgery route again. Gaining weight like crazy (due to complications with the band forcing it to be emptied) is exactly the reason I am having the band to sleeve revision surgery. I know that I can't do it alone (or I wouldn't have gained back so much weight), so having the sleeve as a tool to help me is the best option to meet my weight loss goals. Surgery isn't for everyone, but it is definitely something to consider. Good luck to you no matter what route you take!
  7. wow!! Lots of great advice!! Thanks so much for taking the time to help me out. You don't know how much I appreciate it!!!

  10. I will be on a 2-week liquid diet. Still trying to decide which protein powders to go with. I'm unable to give any advice about sleeve surgery, but have a great need to say that your final question is the wisest of all. It tells me you'll be a champion. @@Fatty McFatster, it's easy to say, but true: You can do anything for two days. Best wishes to you. Thank you. That is very kind of you to say!!

    Steak?

That looks delicious. So glad to hear I will still be able to eat a small piece of steak after surgery.

  21. I will be a band to sleeve revision in the next few weeks. I am ready to lose the weight...AGAIN. But it seems I have a different fear every day or so. At first I was worried about the pain (which I have sense learned isn't too bad). Next I was worried about leakage. Then I was/still am worried about regain. And over the last day or so I have become worried about acid reflux (which I currently don't have due to the lap band). Is it normal to worry this much before sleeve surgery?

To Tell or Not to Tell?

I will be doing the band to sleeve revision and I can say that I told too many people about the lap band. I guess I just believed everyone would be supportive, but now I know that's not the case. I received some support, but also quite a few rude comments. This time around I will be telling a lot fewer people about the sleeve.

    Not Happening After all …

I am actually jumping through some hoops right now and that is just my best guess. My surgeon said that my surgery will be 2-3 weeks after I complete this task for the Weight Management Center. So, I am guessing mid November. *Fingers crossed!!!

    Not Happening After all …

So sorry to hear this, but Nov. 2nd isn't too terribly far off. It'll be here before you know it. Hang in there and try to stay positive.
  25. Thanks so much!! I might just have to do that once I have the surgery and lose the weight again. I lost 115 lbs with the band (before I gained it back due to complications), but know I can do it again with the help of the sleeve. We can do this!!! Only 1 more week for you! That's so exciting!! Please keep us posted along the way.
