" Elikis-Gas pains continued all night, but I was still able to get some rest. By this morning the gas is better, but continues to come back each time I try to drink something. Not sure if GasX is working or not, I don't feel anything happening, but who knows if it would be worse if I didnt take it. I haven't really been consistent in taking the vicodin, the incision pain is really not that bad. " The gas was the worst part for me...amazing how painful air can be, lol..Hope you're feeling better, remember to keep walking!

Hi Elikis! Everyone seems to react a little differently pain wise after surgery. Its been a little over a week for me and it gets better everyday. The first couple are the hardest. Listen to what everyone tells you...walk and sip water, its the biggest help. And dont worry about being put to sleep, you won't even realize whats going on, next thing you know you'll be in recovery:thumbup: Just realized you're going in tomorrow!! Best of luck to you!!!!!!

Hi Karen! I cannot wait to eat some scrambled eggs on Friday!! Sounds funny, but when I got my mushies list, that stuck in my mind! Im starting to get a little hungry for real food...tired of drinking and eating all meals with a spoon, lol.

Well, 1 week and a day later and looks like Ive seen the end of the gas pains, Yay!! Only pain now is this burning I get in my chest almost like heartburn. Doc says its the hernia repair and it takes a little longer to heal. Otherwise feeling great and looking forward to moving to mushies!!! Glad to hear everyone is coming along nicely with their surgeries...Keep up the good work fellow Bandsters!!!

Hi All! One week out today, can't believe it! I'm still having sharp pains on my left side and shoulder, and I get these sort of spasms in the middle of my chest. Doc says its from hernia repair and will go away. Although I feel great otherwise, I wish these nagging pains would go away!! Hope everyone else is doing well. -
First of all, Good wishes to those having their surgery today!! Also, just wondering for those who have had it...I am 1 week out today and even tho I am doing my walking and taking gas-x I still get these sharp pains in my left side and shoulder. Its not constant but it really hurts. Also, every now and then a pressure in the middle of my chest. My doc says its all normal, just wanted to see if anyone else is experiencing any of this? Other than that I feel great, just want the nagging pains to go away!!

Hi Fluffy! I was also banded on 10/1. First couple of days were really rough with gas and pain but today is definitely better. I've been drinking 3 protein shakes a day with a little bite of jello here and there. Its been raining here for the past few days but I did get out and walk today and it felt good. Tomorrow is my 1st post op exam. Keep me posted on how you're doing! -
I cant believe it's almost Friday...I am sooo nervous!!! I got the rundown today on what to expect. I think Im most nervous about being nauseaus afterwards. I dont want to throw up too much and make the band slip...I've lost 13 pounds on the pre-op diet and feeling good. Has anyone heard of the gas pain post op? Whats the best relief? Here's to a speedy recovery and a new life for us all!!

thank you Stargate, I now understand the reasoning. I just wish the pulmo doc made it clearer of what he needed instead of waiting to the last minute. My sleep study is set for Tuesday nite so my Oct 1st date is still on! Can't believe it's only a week away. Thank you again for your input!

I was all set with a surgery date of Oct 1st...started my pre op diet this past Friday. Today I get a call and they tell me I need a sleep study before the surgery!!!!! I already know I have sleep apnea, ive been using my machine for years. I don't know why they waited until now to tell me this and now my surgery will most probably be postponed. I'm so aggravated, I had to vent. When I saw the pulmonologist I had to do a full breathing test which was fine, he never mentioned I would need this sleep test prior to my procedure, but he's insisting that he did tell me...Man, I am pissed!!!:smile2:
