Someone at work asked me if I was afraid to die. I told them that I was more afraid of dying from obesity related illnesses. Of course, the same person asked me if she could have my clothes after I lost weight. And if I died, could she sleep with my husband. I didn't put a lot of stock in that....I talk to my other co-worker who has lost a lot of weight and is very healthy.

I will be able to schedule surgery either tomorrow or Friday. I bugged them but I am glad I did. At least I know that I will be able to have the surgery. Now, to learning all I can about my post op diet, etc.

I am having a hard time staying patient myself. My surgeon's office submitted everything to insurance on the 13th and I still haven't heard anything. I called them on Wed and Thursday last week because my anxiety got the better of me and they didn't hear anything back. It is so hard to sit back and wait. Especially since I had to do the 6 months of dieting and all the testing already.

I am in the same boat...waiting for insurance approval. I won't receive a surgery date without prior approval from my insurance company. It is so hard to have patience with something so important. I am praying we both hear today!

I am still waiting to see if I am approved or not by insurance. After 6 months, waiting 10 to 30 days should be a breeze but my anxiety is getting the best of me. I qualify....I have met all the requirements. Everything was submitted last Thursday....I have been trying to keep busy and not think too much about it. How long did it take for others to get approved?\ Rachael

I am also waiting for approval from insurance. I have been through all the testing. etc. I am so anxious. It has almost been a week. I need to pray for patience.

All of my testing, diet and paperwork has been submitted to my insurance company and I am waiting to hear what the response will be. Please say a prayer for me....I really want this to happen. Thanks!

I am at the end of my six month diet. I am hoping to lose weight tomorrow. I have lost about 10 pounds...not too bad for not trying real hard. I have had all the pre-surgery testing. I did find out I have sleep apena. I am nervous and yet excited. I hope that the band will be worth all the pain. I am really trying hard not to snack between meals...I hope that the band helps with that. Any advice/comments would be great. Thanks so much!!

I second Getting some Victoria's Secret underwear! and burning the granny panties.... and bras... 2.) buying a leopard bikini...I wanted to wear a bikini my whole life and have always been too ashamed to 3.) enjoying my family reunions/class reunions without trying to buy an outfit to make me look "thin" 4.) running and playing with my kids...instead of watching while sitting on the couch 5.) to not be the fat mom at my child's school...or fattest in the room at work....

Welcome! I am a little over 3 months along in the process. Just scheduled some tests. I feel the same way: I am nervous but ready to embark on the journey. Don't worry about what the scale says today. It will just give you an added incentive to lose during this period.

I had my first appointment with my surgeon yesterday. I am getting banded at Magee Women's Hospital by Dr. Hamad. I am down about 8 lbs since I started this process. I am three months in. I am nervous. Got lots of testing to do--a sleep study, EKG, Upper GI, blood work, etc. But excited. I am ready for the change....I have been working on my diet and exervcise. I am hoping that the insurance approves this. But so far, so good. Any advice/stories/support would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi, I am about 2 months along in the process for getting lap-band. I have been to the seminar and two weight-in doctors' appointments. I am praying that my insurance covers the procedure. I am going for a sleep study and am hoping that I have sleep apeana...I know that sounds really sick but then the insurance company would have to authorize the surgery. I am open to all support and anyone experience with UPMC Healthplan (commerical policy). Thanks!!
