  1. Congratulations!!! I was 195 today. I, too, have been taking things in 5-10lbs increments. My goal is to be 192 by August 1st.
  2. I agree...it is a personal decision. I told everyone that I work with. I didn't want the rumor mill running. I was the third at my work place to have the procedure and 99% have been very supportive. I decided not to tell many at church. My close friends and family know. I am proud of my decision and not ashamed. I have struggled with my weight for so long that I am happy to be able to do something about it.

OMG!!! I AM LOSING MY HAIR!!!

Yes--try Biotin. This is helped a friend of mine.
  4. I could have written this --sort of. I have had two bad weeks too. Cravings and Grazing. I wanted chocolate, ice cream, cheese cake, etc. I started eating better yesterday and have gotten back on my square today. Ate my lunch of tuna fish, string and rice cakes (mild chili which are yummy). Going to the gym at noon to work out for 30-40 minutes. I felt so good that I allowed myself the treats...crazy and self defeating. We can do it!!

    What's YOUR guilty pleasure?

I love chocolate. I have no self control...so I keep it out of the house. I do like the sugar free pudding.

    Chew and Spit?

i did once. Don't make a habit of it. It is a serious food disorder. I did it with a fry when I was on clear liquids...clearly not my best judgment.

    Am i wrong??

I wouldn't make it a habit but as long as it went down and you didn't have any issues...don't worry about it. I screwed up on post fill diet last week. I know that they have the diet progression so that your stomach heals but the progression is so different from surgeon to surgeon. I would stick with mushy foods until you get the okay from your surgeon to move on.

    Pain with first fill?

I have had two fills. The second being yesterday. I was a little sore but they inject numbing medicine before injecting the other needle. I think I was sore from moving around and picking up my 2 year old...he is about 30lbs and pure muscle...LOL. Don't worry, it is no big deal!
  9. I yawn and get a pain in my left shoulder if I over eat. I try to eat slowly and do measure out my food. I just had my second fill yesterday. I am hoping that I will have satiety for a longer amount of time. I try to eat until I am comfortable and not hungry anymore. It is hard to pitch the rest of the food...but I know I have to do that or be in pain.

    #2 After Surgery:)

I made a new word to describe going to the bathroom after surgery...pee-oped. I wouldn't worry. You haven't been taking in anything solids so it may not happen for a few days.

    Yell At Me PLEASE!

I am going to try that recipe...sounds easy and really good when I want something crunchy.

    Yell At Me PLEASE!

I have noticied that I am doing the same things...I have lost 40lbs and am officially 199lbs. I am trying to get back on track quick. I can't snack...I do great with my meals, but, then, I have a cookie or chocolate, etc. I have some junk food in my house for my kids/husband, I just need to stay away from it. I am going to exercise at lunch time today. It is so hard to change these old behaviors....but I am determined to. I feel great having lost 40lbs, I know I can make it to 50, 60, and eventually to my 100 goal. I love this board...It is so nice to talk to people who truly understand what you are going through.
  13. I had the same thing. I am about 3 months post op and have lost 40 lbs (28 since surgery). I am happy I did it. I wouldn't worry. He may just hold off on giving you a fill. I lost about 13lbs in my first 10 days and the weight lost has slowed down. I am losing about 2-3lbs a week. I like losing slow because it gives the skin a chance to tighten up and I have been exercising. I wouldn't worry--sounds like you are doing fantastic. My surgeon was from a center of excellence too and she got her training at John Hopkins.
  14. I told everyone I worked with, my family and most of my friends. I didn't tell people who I thought wouldn't be supportive...ie--I didn't announce it on facebook. I am glad that I shared the information with most of the people in my life. I know two other successful band-ers and their support has been priceless. I also didn't want the rumor-mill running at work. My husband and I work at the same place and I just decided to be honest and up-front about it. I don't regret my decision. 99% of people I worked with have been supportive and very nice. I do once in a while get snide comments---my aunt saying that she would like to lose weight but doesn't want plastic around her stomach, etc. But, I am doing this for my life and health and I am proud of my decision. As an adult child of an alcoholic parent, I am tired of keeping secrets. I want to live a honest, happy life.

    Scale and NSV

I am at my June goal weight...200 lbs. I can't believe it. I feel so good. I am down a clothing size from 18W to 16 regular. I saw a co-worker today I haven't seen in a couple of months. She looked me up and down and said that I am getting so skinny. That felt so good! It is worth not eating the bread (not sure if I can or not---just gave it up) and lettuce. Thanks!

    sex drive after lapband

The first couple of weeks, I lost my sex drive. Didn't have the energy on liquids to be interested in sex. BUT, after I was eating regular foods and lost some weight, it came back much stronger than before I had surgery.

    My favorite mushy meal

wow, that sounds like a very restrictive diet plan,Papillon Princess . But if it is working for you, who am I to say anything. I am working hard to make this a lifestyle not a diet...but I have given up bread. Just can't eat it as a "normal" person and not sure how my band would handle it. I also can't eat chips/ice cream in moderation so they are out...LOL. Your recipe sounds good, Little Teapot. I will have to try it...I am off of mushies but I do like to try different things and will be good if I get another fill. Only had one fill so far and haven't needed another one. I get bored eating the same things over and over. I found that I like lots of favor in the foods I do eat....lots of protein and veggies, some fruit and a little starch. Of course chocolate....that TOM always gets me...LOL. Thanks!
  18. I have heard that too. I could hide some of my weight but I felt terrible and already had sleep apena at 33 years old. I feel better than I have in years and am only one-third of the way to my goal weight. thanks, Rachael

  20. I have been banded for two months today and I feel great! I have lost about 27 pounds since surgery, have more energy, and just feel better about myself. I am able to exercise and eat smaller portions and I am not so obessed with food. Gotta learn to slow down my eating and not take big bites...but this whole thing is a learning process. so glad I did this for myself!!

    Banded for 2 months

YES! I wrote "goodbye" letters to my kids before surgery. I was scared. I knew I had to do something radical to get the weight off--no diet/exercise program worked for me. I was constantly stressed and hungry. I made a decision to do it. I had regrets the first or two after surgery. But, then, I started to feel better and better. I found I had more energy to exercise and just do the things that needed done around my house. I can play more with my kids. I followed my "gut" and my advice to you is to do the same thing. good luck and hugs!
  22. I was told 1100-1200 calories a day. I am a 5'4" woman and I know that caloric intake varies a lot from person to person. It is interesting to hear what other doctors are saying.
