I got banded yesterday!
kaboom 13 replied to shannonh's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
That's awesome! i can't say the same for me. I have had some tough challenges these last 5 weeks. But I'm glad your experience has been good these last two days! Lots of Luv- Alice Banded 12/20/06 Dr. Huacuz- Tijuana, Mexico -
Trust me I understand! Don't worry though, eventually the bloating from the IV will go down. I am 5 weeks post op and I can't stop eating. I eat almost as much as I was before the surgery. But I am very optimistic about whats coming next. I've only lost about 18 lbs after 5 weeks and I am getting my first fill next week. This is where the real magic should begin. The first month is all about healing and trust me I still feel like i'm healing. Let your body get use to this strange tool inside your body first then you can start working on the weight loss.:biggrin1: Lots of Luv- Alice Banded 12/20/06 Dr. Huacuz- Tijuana, Mexico

Hang in there! I am 4 weeks post op and I still have the gas pain. I found a list of remedies but I didn't try them all. I found that charco pills work faster than gas-x. Nor gas-x nor rolaids helped me out. I cried in tears for days. Now as soon as I eat I take these pills. They are filled with powder and it pops the gas bubbles as they pop open in your stomach. Here's a list I found, I still have intense pain every now and then so maybe one of these will work for you. Lots of Luv- Alice Banded 12/20/06 Dr. Huacuz- Tijuana, Mexico Remedies Folk Betaine hydrochloric acid will help digest excess food that your digestive system can't handle on its own and help relieve gas, bloating, and an upset stomach. Older people especially are low in this very necessary acid. Take 1-2 tablets with any large meal. Pancreatic enzymes will also be helpful. Carbonated Water It encourages belching to relieve the gas. Celery seeds Chew (but don't swallow) a teaspoon of seeds. This remedy is supposed to provide quick relief. Chamomile helps improve digestion and aids in expelling trapped gas in the digestive tract. Make a tea by pouring one cup of boiling water over 1-2 teaspoons of the dried herb; cover; steep for fifteen minutes; strain. This remedy is excellent for babies who have colic, too. Give the baby 1/4 cup of tea diluted with an equal amount of water in a bottle before each feeding. Charcoal, activated Activated charcoal will bind to the gas. Take two tablets before and after meals. Do not take with other medications, supplements, or birth control pills, as it binds to them, too. Do not use on a long term basis, only for temporary relief. Fennel helps improve digestion and aids in expelling trapped gas in the digestive tract. Ginger Mix one teaspoon of fresh grated ginger with one teaspoon of lime juice; take immediately after eating. Pancreatic enzymes will aid digestion and help relieve gas, bloating, and an upset stomach. Take as directed. Peppermint The herb peppermint, either in tea form or chewing the leaves, will relax the intestines and make it easier for the gas to escape. Peppermint is a carminative, which is a substance that removes accumulated gas from the stomach and intestines. ? Peppermint oil improves gas and bloating problems by causing gas trapped in the colon and intestines to be absorbed into the body. Simethicone Simethicone breaks up the large bubbles of gas. Homeopathic Nux vomica will help relieve gas, bloating and a sour stomach. Take the 6c potency in 4 drops or pellets every hour.

I totally had forgotten to ask my doctor about this. After this miserable week of gas pain, sex is that last thing on my mind, thats for sure. But my boyfriend asked my yesterday about that, and I guess I hadn't even thought about it. I know its going to be a long long long time for him because this is not on my friggin list right now. LOL! Does anyone know? Banded 12/20/06 Dr. Huacuz, Tijuana, Awesome doctor!

Don't worry its all normal. I am on my 14th day and still feel some gas pain. My fourth and fifth day were the worst of all. I was in tears but it definitely diminishes as time goes on. I used fleet suppositories and they helped for short period just get everything out quickly. I also slept with my knee up and this seemed to feel ok. Hey you, don't let it get you down. I spent my 4th day through my 9th day crying every morning because I was sick of feeling sick. I barely ate my first real food. And well it wasn't exactly food, it was a tiny side plate of Beans and some mushed up eggs. I was so miserable a few hours later that I started to cry the other day. I was on vacation for a few days and we kept stopping at restaurants, it DROVE ME CRAZY. I couldn't order anything other than Water and one egg. Trust me your not alone. This is my 14th day and I still wake up with nausea and my tummy hurts! I am so sick of Soups. Just hang in there Lots of Luv, Alicia banded- 12/20/06 Dr. Huacuz Tijuana

How long to have sex?
kaboom 13 replied to kaboom 13's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well thank you all for giving your thoughts! I actually waited a week and couldn't stop after that. Ha! HAppy New Year! -
I got banded on 12/20/06 w/ Dr. Huacuz in Tijuana. Excellent experience. Since I've been reading this forum for awhile I already knew what to expect. I've already lost 9 lbs, mostly water I presume. The one thing I personally hate is the damn pain on my shoulder. Its so weird, as soon as I eat something the pain runs up my shoulder. This morning it was soooo bad I sat and cried until my honey bunny massaged it, oh and I also popped some tylenol chewables. When is this going to stop? Help? I can't take it. Hot showers seem to make it better but its hard enough to deal with the bloating gas pain, and the burping that never happens. Not to mention the confusion of "is it gas or hunger"? I'm so sleep deprived because of this. SOSOSOSOSOS:cry

Shopping for a Dr. in Mexico
kaboom 13 replied to Dakota1984's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I went to DR. HUACUZ in Tijuana. He was awesome. From the moment I got there he greeted me at the door and got us settled in right away. He came and checked on us often. He is really down to earth and very professional and knowledgeable in this field. His staff is the greatest! I made the best choice for me and don't regret it all! caved...ate reg. food during liquid stage!
kaboom 13 replied to misltoe's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh my gosh! I did too. My brother made some mac and cheese and I just HAD to taste it! I ate two spoonfuls! It was soooooo worth it to me. Of course I felt guilty as much but I was more scared of the band and the healing issues. Its only been a week for me and I'm still on liquids. I haven't done that again though, but it was DELICIOUS! -
personal question, surgery in 2 days!
kaboom 13 replied to CareBear's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too suffer from this problem. I seem to be fine right now. I just discovered a fleet supository. I can't believe I've never used it before. WOrks great! Especially right now, that I have the gas pain! 6 days since surgery and down 12 lbs already. Starvation I would think..lol -
PreOP or not PreOP Diet that is the question
kaboom 13 replied to househuntress's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it depends on each individual. I ate like others here. As if it was the last supper! I ate so much, steak, burgers, chili dogs, cake, I mean I ate as if the world was ending the next day. I seem to be fine! so I think it depends on your own intuition and your the only one that knows your body. The gas pain is killing me though! that I can't do anything about. -
starting week 2 diet tomorrow
kaboom 13 replied to tazboobecky's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can relate! I went to 3 christmas dinners and couldn't eat a thing. I just pretended as if I had already eaten. My boyfriend sat there and ate tamales and it just killed me because I was so hungry. I just sat there with super duper gas pain, smiled and drank a V-8. It was terrible. But I just kept day dreaming about how great I'm going to look 80 lbs. lighter! LOL! HA! -
vitamins after surgery
kaboom 13 replied to nevrenson's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just purchased eniva vibe. I heard so many good things about it. YOu drink it but it doesn't taste that great. I mix it in a small fruit shake and drink it slow. -
I've crushed and mix them in small protein shake. Seem better than to have to deal with tummy pain.

Hey Beth, thanks for the words! How long is this horrible feeling suppose to last? I cried all day yesterday because I couldnt' even touch my arm. I tried a fleet supository. I blogged somewhere else that the gates of heaven were in stereo sound when a big blast of air came out. I even slept all night with no pain! lol... Sadly my pain returned today but not as intense. I've been chewing on gas x chewables. Works a little I guess. I've also had to swallow just so I can burp on purpose, they dont come out unless I force them once in awhile. IT sucks! I'm so weak from this first weeks malnutrition, I can only walk for short periods. How do people go back to work so soon? Thank god I don't go back for another week.

The Damn Shoulder Pain! Help!
kaboom 13 replied to kaboom 13's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thank you all! I guess it does make sense that its gas pain. My fourth and fifth days were the worst so far. I cried all day yesterday because I couldn't breath, and just touching my shoulder hurt so much. I ended up trying the fleet supositories last night. It kicked in so quick, all I remember is hearing the gates of heaven opening up when I had one big huge blast of air come out me. It does relieve it temporarily. I slept like a baby. Unfortuanetly I woke up with the darn pain again today. NOt as bad though. THANKS SO MUCH FOR EVERYONE'S ADVICE!:notagree -
2 days since surgery
kaboom 13 replied to tazboobecky's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello all! I also got banded this past week. I tell you it's like looking in a mirror when I read this postings. The worst thing that I feel out of everything is the damn pain on my shoulder and the uncomfortableness of laying on my back. I have taken about 3 showers each day since the 20th, hot showers that is!!! then I've applied ben gay and popped some tylenol chewables. It seems to go away for a bit. Good excuse for my honey to massage me. This morning was the first morning I actually sat and cried cause it hurt so much. Its funny cause It hurts when I eat mostly. I can get past the gas so far but the pain is horrible! -
Hello, I just got banded too. I too was banded on 12/20 by Dr. huacuz in Tijuana. I've already lost 9 lbs, probably Water weight. My shoulder pain is killing me to the point that I actually sat and cried. Warm showers seem to make it feel better, I also applied ben gay and pop some chewable tylenols. barely works for me. Are you having the same problems?

How do you ease your spouse's worries?
kaboom 13 posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My husband is so worried about this surgery. When I first told him about my decision he sort of gave me a guilt trip. He said I should try exercising and dieting and all this stuff. Since I am a self pay he mentioned other options of course. I told him that my mind was made up and that I need support because I was scared enough. Now that the time is getting closer he sees that the surgery is next week, he is so frightened. He stayed up last night starring at me because he said he was scared of what could happen or the complications maybe. Now I find myself trying to comfort him. My anxiety level has sky rocketed big time and now I have to worry about comforting my husband. Anyone had this problem? -

Thanks! I am actually going to spend some time with the counselor at the doctor's office and I think I'm going to ask him to sit in and listen to the whole thing. We'll see what happens! -

Hello all! I am being banded on December 20th @ Huacuz Surgical in Tijuana Mexico. I've been calling all their patients and speaking to them so I can feel in like I'm in good hands! I am very comfortable with my decision to go there but I am so nervous I don't know how to keep calm. I keep asking myself if I am going to ruin my life after this. I'm getting cold feet I guess but on the other side of the token I am very excited about finally doing something that feels positive for my weight loss future. I am going to do it no matter what but I am scared and so is my husband. He is more scared for me than I am. Any advise on this...

kaboom 13 replied to kaboom 13's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am doing a search for multivitamins. I found Eniva Vibe and heard good things about it but not sure if anyone has tried it or not?
