  1. I just got a my first fill at 1cc. I don't feel anything though. When I eat I do feel like sliming but not sure if that means I'm restricted or if I took a big bite or what it means..help! How do I know if I'm restricted or just eating too much. I don't feel the difference at all as far as tightness.

    February 2007 bandsters!

I got my first fill Saturday. I only got 1cc though. Is this normal? I don't really feel any different????? I did try to eat but it all kept coming back up. I was sliming. Does this mean I was restricted or just eating big bites. My doctor told me to stay on fluids for one week. But I just can't...it won't keep me full so I've been on mushies again. yeah, my doctor told me the same thing, but I keep forgetting and I've tried to take bites like I normally had. Then when the pain begins I smack myself and remind myself to eat SLOOOOWWWW. ha! Its all a new learning process.

Mostly normal foods. My brother is a vegetarian so he cooks really healthy meals but I still have some of those old habits of picking on stuff at work all day. I stopped eating ice cream, cookies and chocolate bars. So I started buying some pecans and almonds, some high fiber cereal so I could pick in little bites. I can't eat ANY type of dairy anymore. I've tried to drink nonfat milk so I can eat some cereal but even that doesn't work. The lettuce always goes down slow and ends up frustrating me. But i've tried almost everything just to test myself. I can't really eat chicken because it gets stuck and becomes painful eventually. That's how i've ended up eating some bad foods rice, pasta stuff like that. However, on a lighter note I've been reading some nutritional books to learn how to mix my foods properly. Its a learning process, I have to train myself to change habits I've had all my life, its hard but worth it I'm sure.:scared:

Well my boyfriend was with me when I went and I was more worried about him keeping busy. Girl, I slapped him with some tylenol pm, so that I could just rest. They don't have dvd players to watch anything and the tv only has like three channels. I couldn't sleep at all because of the pressure and gas, so luckily my boyfriend had taken his player and a bunch of movies and all I did was watch movies for two days. Don't be afraid to ask for pain medication because it takes the edge off of the anxiety. I sure asked for it and was mellow the whole time. Also make sure you take your hygiene products, like soap and baby wipes some extra pj's cause it is really cold in those rooms. Good luck, send me a message if you want more tips!

    Gas Relief!!! Remedies

No problem, I guess it really depends on the person. The regular stuff like gas x and rolaids didn't work for me. The charco pills do however! Good luck!
  8. I agree don't stress over it. I didn't..lol...

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

I just thought about something else. The trick and the point is to stop trying all the fad diets! These always fail people! Learn how to mix your foods and what portions you should be eating. If you need to count calories you can at first but research has shown that eventually you will go back to gaining weight if you don't learn how to mix your foods. Chose good fats that will help speed your metabolism. I recently started reading some nutritional books so that I don't have to depend on the calorie, carb, south beach FAD diet. Those lien cuisine's and and south beach meals have HIGH salt which can give you urinary and bladder infections if you don't keep up with 60oz of water. SOrry to sound like such a poop but the key is to change your life not just experience a quick weight loss and then go back to your old ways. Educating yourself is key in this transition! trust me I've had such a hard time with this as well. I went from 2500 calories to 800-1000 and I'm miserable. But I'll be much happier when I'm sizing 7!

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

I think it really boils down to the exercise for most low bmi'ers. I haven't lost anything in two weeks. I dropped 1 lb a day for the first three weeks or so and now I've completely stopped. So I'm going for my first fill on 2/2/07 and see what happens. Unfortunately for all those lazy people like me or buzeee as well, we are going to have to put from our part to make this tool work for us. I HATE EXERCISING! but I know I gots to do it if I want this to work!

    December Bandsters in January!

Hello December bandsters! I can eat alot right now. I do experience alot of sliming but maybe because I eat too fast. ANyhow I go for my first fill on 02/02/07. Can't wait. I've only lost 17lbs but I know it's because I eat alot now that I feel better. DOes anyone still have shoulder pain?
  15. Yep I agree! I eat all day long right now. Can't wait for my first fill on 2/2/07! Lots of luv! Alice Banded on 12/20/07 Dr. Huacuz, Tijuana MX
  16. I was so nervous too. I drove myself insane and I was surprisingly calm the day of the surgery. As soon as I saw the doctor I began having an anxiety attack. I told my boyfriend I was going home because I couldn't do this to myself. They gave me an injection and I chilled out so much it turned out to be a breeze. Well...the surgery part of it, lol... I'm glad I did it. I agree that it depends on each person and what foods you'll soon find out you can eat or not. I can't eat anything that is dairy now. Like most people I tried to taste a lil of different things. well to my surprise, I cant eating any potato, I immediately want to throw up, I tried a piece of a steak also the same thing, Ohhh and lettuce is horrible now. I can however eat pizza and popcorn, hehehe. I can't believe it but well I knew it was going to be a change of life but it was worth it. Lots of luv! Alice Banded on 12/20/07 Dr. Huacuz, Tijuana MX

Gosh! I'm glad someone asked. I am eating like a pig all day long. I cant eat alot of food at one time, but I can eat all day long. The funny thing is that I've maintained the same weight for two weeks. I don't really gain anything. I have to admit I've been pretty bad. My intake is about 800-1000 calories and they haven't been the best foods either. :faint: I can't wait for my first fill. I still can't get my Water in all day long. The most I've done is 32oz. What about you? Lots of luv! Alice Banded on 12/20/07 Dr. Huacuz, Tijuana MX
  18. Congrats on your decision! The gases that people talk about are trapped bubbles in the digestive tract/stomach and they get stuck where they accumulate. When there is so much pressure they push and travel up the diaphragm causing shoulder pain. It feels the most intense right after surgery because they pump your stomach with so much stuff to expand it during the surgery. I'm in my 5th week of recovery and it still feels very intense. If you are one of the lucky ones that only experiences it at the beginning, than lucky you. I wasn't, I cried very hard the first week. Now I'm use to it and it can be horribly painful about twice a week. Its going away but not fast enough as far as i'm concerned. LOL.... Don't worry about it but I think it's important for you to get all the info. you need. Good luck! Lots of luv! Alice Banded on 12/20/07 Dr. Huacuz, Tijuana MX

    Banded today

Also just to add on some remedies for the gas relief here are some suggestions: Remedies Folk Betaine hydrochloric acid will help digest excess food that your digestive system can't handle on its own and help relieve gas, bloating, and an upset stomach. Older people especially are low in this very necessary acid. Take 1-2 tablets with any large meal. Pancreatic enzymes will also be helpful. Carbonated Water It encourages belching to relieve the gas. Celery seeds Chew (but don't swallow) a teaspoon of seeds. This remedy is supposed to provide quick relief. Chamomile helps improve digestion and aids in expelling trapped gas in the digestive tract. Make a tea by pouring one cup of boiling water over 1-2 teaspoons of the dried herb; cover; steep for fifteen minutes; strain. This remedy is excellent for babies who have colic, too. Give the baby 1/4 cup of tea diluted with an equal amount of water in a bottle before each feeding. Charcoal, activated Activated charcoal will bind to the gas. Take two tablets before and after meals. Do not take with other medications, supplements, or birth control pills, as it binds to them, too. Do not use on a long term basis, only for temporary relief. Fennel helps improve digestion and aids in expelling trapped gas in the digestive tract. Ginger Mix one teaspoon of fresh grated ginger with one teaspoon of lime juice; take immediately after eating. Pancreatic enzymes will aid digestion and help relieve gas, bloating, and an upset stomach. Take as directed. Peppermint The herb peppermint, either in tea form or chewing the leaves, will relax the intestines and make it easier for the gas to escape. Peppermint is a carminative, which is a substance that removes accumulated gas from the stomach and intestines. ? Peppermint oil improves gas and bloating problems by causing gas trapped in the colon and intestines to be absorbed into the body. Simethicone Simethicone breaks up the large bubbles of gas. marj9, I think everyone is different. I am hitting 5 weeks and can eat as much if not more than what I was eating before the surgery. I've lost only 17 lbs or so but I'm pretty dang proud of it. Even though I do get the pain when the food is going down and I can't eat that fast, I can keep eating all day. So maybe it depends on the person. I am going for my first fill next week and can't wait. guess we'll see what happens. Lots of luv! 23. I dont' see how anyone could shrink their liver in a week or two. I stuffed my face all the way til the night before. I was fine! I think people should stop stressing over the pre-op starvation diet. Strict Protein drinks are ok for a little while but you'll get over it quick. Just don't stuff your face. Good luck! Yes it is totally normal. I was super dizzy for about a week. I agree, if you can get some Protein down and sips, you should do it. I wasn't able to get anything down other than tiny little sips of fluids. For about two weeks I was starving and everything felt too thick. Try some tasty Protein Drink or maybe you should start with the multi-vitamins as well. Good luck! Lots of Luv- Alice Banded 12/20/06 Dr. Huacuz- Tijuana, Mexico
