    Will power

    I have the same problem. That's why I needed help with my weight. I still fight everyday not to snack because I spent a lot of time and money and this thing and I know it can help me be successful. The positive I can think of when I do have a bad weekend is that when I snacked, I couldn't do it at the level I was doing before. I used to be able to eat a whole container of cream cheese with crackers. Now, I only eat 2-3 crackers and it fills me up and I don't want anymore. That's a huge difference. Please don't beat yourself up. The whole process is a struggle and this happens to be yours and mine. We can definitely get through it. Be strong and mindful of what you are doing. Just ask yourself, 'do I really need this?' and answer yourself. Then divert your attention to something else, like walking or playing a game. I know it sounds weird, but when I actually ask myself that question I begin to realize I'm not eating because I'm hungry. I'm eating because I have an addiction and it's the compulsion wanting me to do it. Take care! Julia

  9. As I've read, the more weight you lose or the longer you have your band, it should be losing restriction because the fat around your stomach is shrinking as you lose. I'm sorry you have to keep getting unfills. The whole needle process to me is not fun I've have a very finicky band. The only time she's consistent is in the mornings when I'm very tight. Otherwise, I have to take a very small bites when I start eating to see what mood my girl is in and then go from there. Sometimes, I can snack on a few pistachios and sometimes, I get to have two But, I'm not going to complain because it's helping me and I figure it's all apart of the process. I've really learned how to work with the lapband to where I can get what I needed done and not have any future bad episodes. But, it definitely took me a while to get there Julia

    Yea, this guy doesn't seem on the up and up. My doctor fixed my hernia when he was operating. It's been the best thing ever, well other than the weight loss

    I've read on this board a couple of people who have their bands maxed. I also read that they can go over a bit than the size even still. I think it all depends on restriction and what's comfortable. Anyway, CONGRATS on your weight loss! Julia

    problem with cold fluids

    Only at night if I wake up to have something to drink. I used to take something from the fridge, but now I've learned to just get tap water to sip. I used to be like someone was punching me in the chest and it would come back up too. So, it's been a hard lesson to learn not to guzzle cold liquids at night

    If it wasn't for putting crystal light in my Water, I think it would have been harder to cut the sodas. I also get more water in because I like the taste so much. Julia

    Any Non Scale Victories?

    Have another one! I was at the place where I used to spend a lot of time at Happy Hour. I hadn't been in a while and some people hadn't seen me in a while. So the owner of the pub, a gruff kind of tough guy, came up to me and said really quietly "you look so nice". I was floored! It was so sweet especially from him. Julia
  20. I usually go to lunch at 11:30 and eat for about 20 minutes, then will go walking. Well, today I wasn't able to eat because I got stuck and figured that if I went ahead and walked, it would dislodge that bad boy. Needless to say, an hour later my tummy is talking very loudly that it didn't like today's events I can't stop giggling ... I do have my lunch and will eat it now. I just had to share my funny. Julia
  21. I guess before the lap band I didn't let myself get hungry enough to growl. With the lap band, I'm not thinking about food and not obsessing on when I'm going to eat. Like yesterday, I didn't even think about being hungry when my stomach growled. I guess if I get stuck and can't finish my lunch, I'll have to make an effort to get something in before I scare my coworkers again. Thanks everyone! Julia

    I do too... I don't care if people judge me or not. They are judging me being fat. Most people I tell usually want to know about it or already know and are happy for me. Fortunately, no one has been negative about it Julia

    Any Non Scale Victories?

    1. I was able to zip up and wear comfortably a couple of jeans I bought that said size 18, but no where near. 2. No acid reflux and can sleep through the night 3. Went shopping in my closet and found some clothes I can now wear that I hadn't in a very long time. 4. Was able to slowly get off my anti-depressants (huge for me!) Julia
  25. At my last fill, my RN told me to have a whey protein shake (25grams of protein) in the morning instead of the cottage cheese I was eating. My band is tight in the morning, so I have to do soft foods. I was thinking she was crazy because I would be starving by 8:00am. However, getting that big boost of protein in the morning really helps and I don't get hungry until 10:00am and can have a little snack. So, I agree with everyone that protein is important.
