Julia checking in. up 1 pound to 179. I'm blaming it on TOM... LOL
  2. On myfitnesspal.com when I exercise, it adds to my calories. So, if I get 200 calories from exercise, it raises my calories for the day to 1400. Which is cool to me, MORE FOOD! Just kidding.. Anyways, do I still try to keep under 1200 calories or do what it says and add the calories. I'm confused because my RN says to definitely stay under 1200. What do ya'll think? J.
  3. Thanks everyone for replying! Melissannde, I'm just using whatever myfitnesspal says I'm burning. I usually walk 2 miles (40 minutes) during lunch and it says I'm burning about 200 calories. I'll keep eating the 1200 calories and see what happens. I just started really working out so I don't know what's working yet. It'll be interesting. J.

    Eating Time

I'm just the opposite. I eat really slow so I won't get stuck. When I eat, it usually takes 20-30 minutes to eat a little bit while everyone else has already eaten their whole plate of food. I just learned that it's the best way for me so I won't overeat and won't get stuck.. Julia
  9. I'm going to put this here, because everyone I've told today is like 'yea.. that's good'. You know the 'we're tired of hearing about this stuff' kind of reaction. LOL!! Well, went shopping this weekend and I'm in the regular woman's section! YES!! no more Woman's sizes or W's behind the number I wanted to go all out, but restricted myself to three pairs of pants and 4 shirts (only one was an XL!!) It's been since I was in the Air Force 20 years ago that I was able to do that.. I'm just so freaking excited!! J.

    Do I have a leak?

Sounds to me like you do. When they take Fluid from mine, they are able to tell me they pulled out the amount that I had in there. I asked my doctor about it one time having a leak and he said that if they think you do, then they can inject dye into the band under flouro and see if any ink comes out. He says that happens rarely though. Ask your doctor if they have a test to see. Hopefully you don't have one and just experience what I do and lose restriction after a certain amount of time. Usually from losing fat around the stomach. Best of luck to you and let us know what happens. Julia

    Dr's. in Dallas?

I went through Dr. Kim also. He fixed my hernia too and to me that's been worth it's weight in gold. I used Forest Park Medical center for my fills and they were great too. Good luck! Julia

    6 Month Bandiversary!

You look wonderful!! Keep up the good work Julia
  16. I didn't go through insurance, but just reading your story I think you should go back to the doctor and give him a 'what for'. This is your life not his and as a patient, he should have your best interest at heart. Don't let him bully you and find out why he did what he did and not tell you. Seems unseemly to me. Keep going at it.. If you just need to get his ok, wear him out to get it. J.
  17. Thank you! I like this board because I'm still getting new info and helping you 'youngins' while you are learning. Good luck on your journey and let me know if ever need anything or have any questions. J.
  18. I've posted on your other topic and I just want you to know that you are ok. I think you are going though everything that we've all gone through. When I healed and before my first fill, I was so frustrated with not losing weight. There was a 3-4 month period where I didn't lose anything and would see people lose a ton of weight. I ended up gaining 4 pounds before my 3rd fill. Once I got that fill, everything was great. I started losing. However, I did go through the trial by fire of learning to take small bites and chew, chew. During this period that you are going through, I can tell you that you didn't stretch your pouch. Unless you are in intense pain, most likely nothing has happened to your band. During this time, use it to your advantage. Yes, you are going to eat more but this is your chance to learn the habits of being banded so you won't go through what I did with all the sliming and PBing. Choose wisely the foods you eat. Don't obsess over the amounts that you eat.. Take small bites and chew, chew. You don't want to get yourself so worked up that you get yourself so discouraged and send yourself into a depression. Relax and know that in the future this is going to work out. That's how I got through it. Eat when you are hungry and again, make good choices and you'll be ok. Send me personal messages if you need to. I'm so worried about you and how desperate you seem. It's ok. You're not going to fail. Take care, Julia
  19. Yes, you're in bandster hell! It took me 4 fills to get restriction and now I need to go again. This part is the hardest and like the poster said before, don't get stuck on how many calories you are doing and also replace your Snacks with Protein, like greek yogurt and nuts. I gained 4 pounds during that period, so don't worry about it. In the end, it's going to work out for you after you get restriction. Julia
  20. Don't be afraid to start getting fills again. Go slow if you have to. It will vastly improve your weight loss. Good luck to ya. J.

Julia checking in... Down 4!!! pounds to 181... woo-hoo! :Banane02:
  22. Welcome to bandster hell! The time between healing and getting your first fill. Everyone goes through it. But, your doctor needs to look at all the factors to giving you a fill. Not just weight loss. Make sure he knows that you are really hungry and that you are still following the rules. But you still need to get to restriction so you don't have to struggle. You should be able to eat a small meal and not be hungry for a couple to few hours. Most doctors understand what you are going through and know that you need a fill. Julia

    The June Bug Challenge

Julia checking in! I stayed the same at 185.. My fill isn't scheduled until the 28th, so if I maintain I'll be a happy camper
  24. "After that i was able to eat, and from time to time I would throw up for stupid reasons... like today I felt like I wasn't gonna be able to eat, so I got chips, and I ate a little bit of it, then threw the whole thing up, and then 10 mins later threw up again that nasty liquid from the stomach... it was awaful and it hurts..." Even though you are chewing well, you still maybe eating too fast. Eat something and chew really well, but take a minute and then take another bite. Even though you are chewing well, you can still get stuck eating too fast. 1- why I sometimes can or can;t eat normally, although I chew well?? And why have I been throwing up more and more after my last fill? You maybe too tight. Just a slight unfill can help more than you know. Even though your doctor is a surgeon, call him and tell him your problem and tell him about the unfill (.2cc or so). 2- it's killing me that after all this pain, and now that I barely eat, am still not losing weight, why? Is it because my day is very lazy? if i exercize will I lose weight? my brother said that it's the body defense mechanisim because i'm not eating so much like before, so my body hold on to the food, he said I need to excersize, is it true? did your doctors say that? You're not losing weight because if you are barely eating, your body is in starvation mode. It thinks you are starving and is going to keep the fat in your body to survive. That's why eating a good amount of calories and exercise is essential to the program. Use a free calorie journal like fitday.com to keep up with your calories. If you are getting too low of calories, you aren't going to lose weight. I keep mine between 1000-1200 a day. 3- If you;re gonna say you're too tight (about me getting PB or food stuck), what does that mean to be too tight?? and what does have to do with me not losing weight? All that I said above. It's a balance. Your band is a certain size, like mine will only take 10cc of saline at the maximum. Most people don't get close to their max. Mine is at 7.5cc and even though I need slight fill, it still is close to restriction. You want to be able to eat a good amount of protein / veggies, etc and not get stuck or slime and not be hungry too soon. 4- Why during this month I'm getting dizzy alot? and then my heart starts beating fast? Do I need to see a nutrionist? You are not eating enough. 5- Please if you have any Questions or advices that you wanna give me, anything plz would be extremly helpful, I'm really struggling and i don't know what to do... my dad is on my case bout how I'll never lose weight and it's killing me I want to prove him wrong and lose weight just like the second fill when I lost 4 k.g You're going to get there. Don't let anyone give you a hard time about this. You have to get to the point where the band works for you. You're struggling now, but in the end it will work out.
