I have always struggled with my weight but the last straw began almost 6 years ago when my son, then 18 became suicidal and I had to begin taking an anti-depressant. Within 2 months I have gained 40 pounds thanks in most part to the medication. I have never been able to recover from that spike and now that I am almost 50, I have decided that it's time for it to be all about me. I had read about the lapband but late last year I began the process for real and now I am in the first day of my pre-op diet and my surgery is scheduled for October 5. I am very optimistic and most of all I am proud of myself for taking  this huge step.
