  1. I was banded on 9-10-10 since then I have lost 21 pounds. Total since the start of my journey is 45 pounds! I am excited and nervous as some have lost a lot more, BUT I am so thankful I don't care how fast or slow I just care it is happening!!! My second fill is tomorrow. A bit nervous about eating after, but I can do this
  2. I just called my Dr's office as I had a fill two weeks ago and I can not eat any foods, mushies don't go down either. At this point liquids have been an issues for the last 5 days and I haven't been able to keep down Water at times. My Dr's office advised gme oing to the emergency room. I am fine with this, BUT my BIGGEST concern is when you go there do they unfill the whole band??? I DO NOT want a total unfill just a small one. I am 2 years post op so I know my band and my body very well so my concern is if I go they will want to unfill it all. I did call the ER and a Bariatric Dr is available. Has anyone gone to the ER for an unfill and what happened? Thanks!!

    Emergency Room Unfills???

I was completely unfilled in November of 2011 as they were woried of herniation. He said slippage is very rare for me as how he sutures the band in place, however herniation could occur from constant vomiting. So he took it all out and then did all these tests and everything was perfect. So I am just back at the place I started in November. He only fills every two months and his fills are like 1cc at a time. Once unfilled it is like starting ALL over again. In June I was overfilled and they took out 1cc only and it was perfect. I got my next fill two weeks ago and it is too tight so I just need a small unfill.

    Emergency Room Unfills???

My Dr. is out of he country on vacation he is with Tampa General Hospital and the entire bariatic unit at the hospital is his back up so to speak. His actual office is across the street and he has 6 fellows, but no one can do any procedures while he is out. So the backup is the ER. I don't care who does it I am just scared they will insist on removing it all.
  5. Hi Elcee, They had to completely unfill due to all of the swelling. I allowed a month to go by barely eating anything as I thought it was me and the last week I could barely keep liquids down. So he stated due to the urgency of the situation we had to unfill completely to allow healing. He explained it as it was like I just had the surgery. He is also very reserved and the first fill I had 4cc put back in and the last one only 1 cc. He says it is fine and the weight gain is normal, however I am an all or nothing person. When I see one pound gained it is like 100 to me. I feel great physically, but mentally I am a mess.
  6. I was filled on June 5th .8cc at that time I had no idea that .8cc would be way too much. I have had good days and bad days with food since then and lately the last week has been really tough. So I decided all of this food coming back up wasn't good and went to the Dr. yesterday. I was hoping for a small unfill knowing that at 6.0cc was too little and 6.8cc was too much. So after explaining all of my symptoms and issues they took it ALL out! They then sent me for testing to see if it had slipped or if any other issues were present. Well luckily they called today and everything came back perfect, position, pouch etc....except it is slightly tilted. He said that was not a concern if I am feeling fine and doing ok with liquids. So far I feel fantastic EXCEPT now I am starving!!! A sensation I haven't had to feel in a long time :-( I am so lost cause I am thankful for no slipped band and no revision surgery is needed, but devastated I have to start all over again :-( I can't have a fill until January 5th, the time when we need to feel restriction the most I feel nothing. Santa may I please have enough duct tape for my mouth to help keep me away from bad food decisions Before anyone busts my chops, you all are correct....I do know what I should and shouldn't eat, I also know that having that bit of information wasn't enough for me and the band is what I did need to hold me to it Lesson learned from this is, if you feel anything out of the ordinary and it seems like food isn't staying down as easy as it was go straight to the Dr and don't wait.
  7. I am a complete falilure. I am gaining weight and back in bandester hell. I still have 0 control over my eating habits just like before the surgery. It has been a year and six months and I don't go for my third fill (after being empty) till April 19th. I hate this and I hate how I feel. I don't know what to think, I just hope this is normal for now. I can't wait for restriction so I can feel normal again. :-(
  8. They are actually referring to when you joined LapBand Talk. Under your nsme it says Jan-1-2011 so that is why they sent you the email. The AWESOME thing is you have inspired me incredibly, seeing you have lost 104 pounds and kept it all off after five years!!! YOU ARE AWESOME!!

    Sept. 2010 Bandsters !!!

Quoted from Lisa: hi all, extraonne, I can't remember - why do you have no fill? and what ever the reason was, how is the thing going that caused the fill. how many cc's did you have your picture looks really great! wow. **************************************************** Hi Lisa! Thank you! The Dr completely unfilled me as I was having difficulty keeping any foods down. It was a rushed situation in which he thought it was better to be safe than sorry. My last fill was June 5th and at that time I had 6.8cc. It was too tight, but I thought it was me and how I was eating. So I explained it all to him and he said to be safe we will unfill you and then do the flouro to see if the band slipped. Thankfully it did not slip and all is perfect. So now he said I have to wait a month and we will start all over :-( I think at 6 cc I had great restriction, so now I know. I am trying my butt off to keep the weight off till Jan and then I hope to have some restriction.

    Stupid scale!

I know what you mean! My scale used to the same thing! Then I bought a new digital one from Bed Bath Beyond the WW glass one and that one actually stays the same all the time, FINALLY. Don't worry about if you're obsessed with the scale I think 1 out of 3 are hahahah I am one of them! I weigh in the AM and at night. It keeps me accountable. I think sometimes when you move the scale it depends on dips in the tiles or if one is higher than the other etc...small things. Good thing is you are doing GREAT!
  13. If you don't mind me asking, how did you know it slipped? I mean aside from the obvious of the flouro machine showing the Dr. I mean were you in serious pain, could you not keep anything down etc?? I am very curious cause my band slipping is my ONLY fear and BIGGGEEESSTTT fear. My Dr said it is super rare and I should not worry how he places it is even more difficult, but I believe it can happen. He said if I get a stomach flu and I am vomiting profusely it could slip. So ever since I heard that I am terrified! Thanks for any advice you can give, I am all ears!
  14. I was wondering if anyone experiences any pain, pressure or discomfort of any kind when running 5K's, 10K's, half and fulls? Related specifially to thier band. I ran about 4 miles a few times now and around the 2 mile mark for some reason I had some pain in the middle of my chest that went away after about 10 minutes. I don't know if this was just pain or the band etc? Anyone have any advice or experience differences in their running post surgery with the band?

  21. My last fill was 6-10-11. I am tight and I want to keep it this way as it allows me to only eat what I should and all other foods do not work. I like that the band is working for me, but I am tight and strict with my food. I have been losing about 6 pounds a month. Starting August 1st I hired a personal trainer and see him at the gym three times a week and go myself two other times and do a class or yoga. I have not missed a session or gone over 1200 calories since that day & mostly stay at about 1000 calories. I log daily and have not missed a day. It is odd to me I have not lost faster, I average the same 6 pounds per month. So last Friday I decided I will log my food but if I go over 1200 calories no big deal, just log every bite. Well HUGE deal! I ate about 2500 calories each day and gained 4 pounds in three days. I weigh myself daily! So with that brief experiment does this mean I have to eat 1200 calories a day forever? I was hoping when I reach my goal weight I wouldn't have to obsess and log and eat without counting. It doesn't seem like this can happen. Any ideas?
  22. I was wondering the same thing reverie. I went to the nutritionist last week and she said I am eating fine I just need to eat more. So I didn't think going over 1200 calories that she originally set for me would be the norm. I mean my personal trainer said don't eat over 1200 then she said I should eat more as I am burning calories exercising. Of course she meant lean Proteins and veggies etc...not m&m's :-) I think for each person it is different hence why we all go to Dr's and nutritionist etc...I just want to find my correct "formula" based on calories in and out. I am still way overweight so not sure what my BMR is now. Thanks for the info! Oh and whoever said 1200 is normal for all people. No way. Log EVERYTHING you eat in one day and most go over! Calories are everywhere and 2000 to 2500 is the norm depending on you. By the way pounds I did gain from the past weekends GRAZE fest are gone and I am down two more pounds as of today. Thanks all!

    Sept. 2010 Bandsters !!!

Hi All! I am hanging in there and had hoped to lose 100 pounds by this point as well, but I am close so YAY! I have to admit this is HARDER than I expected. I am closely monitoring all of my calories and hired a personal trainer the last couple of the months. I am so glad I see all the success on this site and I hope to reach 100 soon!
