I know everyone is different, but I am feeling discouraged. I have 4cc's in a 10 cc band and a couple of weeks after a fill I can feel the tightness and eat small portions. Then after two weeks I feel like I can eat anything and everything. Some people do not have ANY fills and feel restriction and lose weight like crazy. Confused I don't want to get to 10cc's and still feel like this. Is that even possible? My next fill is 2-24-11 and it can't come soon enough

Feeling restriction??
extraonme replied to extraonme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It totally helps and thank you so much!! I am losing weight still, which I am very happy about it is just slower after the two weeks of the fill so I wasn't sure if it was me or my hunger or I am just trying to get used to this thing :-) Thanks for saying I probably won't get to 10 cc's I think that is my biggest fear. -
Feeling restriction??
extraonme replied to extraonme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am defining it as the Dr. explained it to me which is that I will only be able to eat a 1/2 to 1 cup of food at a time. Now after my second fill I can eat more than that. I can eat eggs in the morning and two turkey patties just fine and then be hungry for lunch at 12. I expected to feel what the nutritionist described and the nurse, but so far don't. I thought what I feel two weeks after my fill is what you should feel all the time. So I thought I would ask the forum to get different opinions and I thank you for yours. -
Feeling restriction??

I just read someone else reached it in their third fill so maybe my next fill will be closer. I can only hope, since I am so unsure what it feels like etc.. -

Diet Soda... good or evil??
extraonme replied to txprime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I miss my diet Coke and diet Pepsi, but not nearly as much as I miss my sparkling water! I haven't had any at all since my surgery My Dr also states no carbonated beverages unless you leave them sit. Here is my thing with the "it expands your pouch" statement. Prior to surgery I drank at least 4-5 diet sodas a day, does that mean it expanded my regular stomach too? I didn't think the carbonation had that much force inside your stomach to do this. Anatomically and physiologically speaking this confuses me. I just stay away from it period since the Dr said no carbonation. I also can't stand flat diet soda.....yuck! Everyone else is correct that it is just chemicals and it truly doesn't do anything for us health wise at all. -
Glad Holidays are over !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am hoping the 5lb gain over the last week is a temporary thing! The scale fluctuates so much for me it is hard to tell. I have been eating more as I am no where near restriction. I only have 4cc's in a 10 cc band. I do feel some slight restriction at times so I am pray the next fill Feb 24th cinches me up tight! -

Odd feeling after 1 year of being banded...not good
extraonme replied to onenuttynurse's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Since it has been a year and you haven't had any issues since, it almost sounds like a virus. Like maybe you caught something and it is causing swelling in your esophagus and now you can't eat a thing. I am so sorry, but I am so glad to hear you are headed to the Dr so he can fix you up. I hope it is something small and you feel better soon! -

Lap-Bands and Airport Security
extraonme replied to Drasan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Here is what the scan actually looks like. It is a picture of the outside of the body underneath the clothes, so they can not detect anything inside such as the port and or the band. Lots of banders have said they have 0 issue flying even with the new scanners. -
What is eating you???
extraonme replied to Bell1138's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did see it. I watch that show ALL the time. She told the Dr she throws up 20 times a day. She would eat bowls full of sausage gravy and mashed potatoes with sticks of butter as well as ice cream sandwiches three at one time. She stated she was a binge eater her whole life she can't stop eating once she starts. So she would eat so much to where she had to throw it up. The Dr said her esophagus could rupture from the throwing up which is common in bulimia after excessive long period of vomiting. She had been doing it for 5 years. She ended up doing awesome she started to eat fruit and veggies and she said she allowed the band to work as it should. by end of taping she had lost 32 pounds!!! It was so great to watch her recover as she is so beautiful! -
These shakes are great, I have never had a problem with them. They also sell them at Vitamin Shoppe for 24 a case of 12.

I had my first fill 10-18 and when she did the fill it was one inch under my largest scar. NOW I can clearly feel it 2 inches ABOVE my largest scar. When you get fills do they fill the exact same spot every time or does it shift? I am aware it is sewn into the stomach wall so this is freaking me out! :wink2:

I was banded 6 weeks ago and until my first fill 10-18-10 I felt full below my sternum. Now that I have had a fill no matter what I eat or drink I feel full right behind my sternum and not in my belly. I was wondering if it is just me or if this is normal? It is very different than feeling full in your belly after eating a big meal before I was banded.:wink2:

Nsv - go shopping!
extraonme replied to JMinDallas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Totally agree! I went Tuesday and ended up spending waayyy more than I intended. I had not shopped in forever and went from a 26/28 to 18 and 20. I am so excited and can't wait. I must say as I tried them all on and bought them all cause I loved em so much in the back of my head I thought what if I gain again....uggghh. Then I realized this isn't a diet this is my life and the band is permanent and my mind is set on the weight loss being permanent too! -

Where do we get a card? Is this mainly for use to show you have a medical implanted device. Thanks! -
After fills how many days do you stay on liquids?
extraonme replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Dr stated 48 hours liquids and then mushies for a day. It was my first fill Monday and today I had scrambled eggs and so far so good. I feel full behind my breast bone not in my belly like before. Weird. -
That article isn't band Bible, it is just the author's view point from her experience. I hear all the time from everyone that each of us are different and each journey is specific to each of us. So don't put too much emphasis on one article, do what is right for you and what your Dr advises. I have made myself crazy reading a millions posts and articles of the past 5 years and now being banded I realize my body is doing what it wants no matter what was published!:wink2:
