Is it bad to eat food and spit it out?
amillerjones replied to Maria40's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I also did that. It was nice to savor the flavor without experiencing any of the problems. -
Oh yes! I remember that first week after my surgery. I was crying and definitely mourning food. I felt terrible. I didn't have food to comfort me and didn't really know what to do. I was missing my favorite foods and was ablsolutely miserable. About a week later I adjusted and felt fine. Gosh, that week was horrible!

Carlene, you stated the difference between Ossama and Sadam much more beautifully then I could. You stated exactly what I was thinking, but couldn't word it properly. I hope that the information that you gave helped clarify the difference between the two.

First Fill Advice: No restriction
amillerjones replied to irwinlaura's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am getting my first fill tomorrow, but i had a question for the future- Once you find your "sweet spot"; How often do you have to return for fills? My doctor is quite a distance and I was just wondering how often we have to return for fills, etc. -
I am in Lansing, so I am further south but would like to meet if someone can give me directions!

Thanks for the info. I go for my first fill tomorrow and that is good information to know!

I had my lap band done on December 6th and I also have that pain. Mine is slightly above the port and I find it difficult to lay on that side or bend over to pick things up. I don't know if it's my port, my muscle or what. Anyone have any answers?

Osama has rich relatives, but he uses what money he has to fund terrorism and is more into ridding the world of Jews and Christians while Sadam was all about himself and using his money to indulge on himself. While both men are evil; they are very different

I remember back in 2002 while attending Purdue University; we had to do a debate. This was before the war in Iraq had even started. We formed a group that was for the war and a group that was against. Purdue centrally located in the Red state that Indiana is had about 18 students for the war and about 4 against. I was against as was 2 others; the other person was put there against her will because we had hardly enough to form a group. When we debated, us four little people won because we had to debate based on FACTS and the facts were that nobody had ever proved a link of Sadam Hussein to 9/11. We had a foreign student in our group who had informed us that Osama Bin Laden and Sadam Hussein don't even like each other and operate on totally different values and mindsets. Sadam is about money and power. Osama is about terrorism and hates the rich and powerful. I learned a lot from that student. He knew things about different parts of the world that our media doesn't really cover here in the U.S.

I am still not clear on what pb is. Is that just throwing up from eating too much or is it something to do with getting food caught in the band? I am confused! Also, I have not threw up or anything; but I did eat too much for the first time at a New Year's Party yesterday and felt ill as a result. Nothing happened. I just stopped eating and sat down for a while and felt better a couple of hours later.

Is anyone having trouble waiting an hour to drink? I have been simultaneously eating and drinking for so many years that I find it difficult not to drink after eating. What have you all done to find success in this area? This has been the greatest challenge for me thus far.

Wow! Poor Mrs. P! Men are so weak. Why is it we can think of hundreds of women that stick around until death in their marriage in sickness AND in health, but we can't think of too many men to serve as examples that stay by their wives?

Hey now, the day I came home from the hospital my husband was eating barbeque ribs and french fries drowned in barbeque sauce in front of me and I had to take a fry and chew it and spit it out. So, it can happen and maybe she was serious until she saw the postings. I don't think its cheating if you don't swallow it then you didn't consume any calories...right?

questions for a newbie who is doing this alone
amillerjones replied to flowerpot's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks w8t4me. I am doing much better now. It has been almost two weeks since my surgery and the pain is gone. I still don't sleep through the night, however. That is probably due to my kids waking me up and once they do; I can't get back to sleep. -
What is pbing? I have that mucous stuff EVERY time I eat...Is that bad? Am I damaging something????

New..Need a little help
amillerjones replied to dani1397's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Wow! I am glad that I went on this web site today. I didn't know that eating solids could damage the band. I have been starving and eating just about everything today and it's only been nine days since my band was put in! I need to get back on liquids, but it gets soooo old! Protein shakes and soups only go for so long! -

Oh Boy I Want To Fill Better!!!
amillerjones replied to darrell's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, you are probably experiencing the gas pains and nausea. They will pass. I had my surgery on the 7th and thought I was going to die. But it's the 14th and I feel great today! -
Banded 12/8/06- NEW
amillerjones replied to azbandboy's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have already been eating! I have yogurt, applesauce, sugar free popsicles in addition to my protein drinks. Those were all allowed in our liquid diet so I am still using them. -
I also had surgery on the 7th and am trying to get used to the port. Sometimes it is uncomfortable when sleeping. I am used to sleeping on that side and the port sometimes gets in the way of that now.

I too am wondering if the apron will vanish or get smaller with weight loss. If not, I will need that number in Mexico! I had two children back to back and that is what took a toll on my belly.

I know the reasons that I am fat. I read a previous post about putting the kids to bed and then eating. That is exactly what I do. My husband is gone for days at a time as an over the road truck driver and I eat and eat. I eat within reason all day long until the kids go to bed. Then, I turn on the tv and eat and eat. The band is a great tool, but I am really missing the food. I have gone so far as to chew up food in my mouth and spit it out instead of swallowing it just so I can savor the flavor. It has only been a week during my surgery and I have already cheated. I had a chocolate today. I was surprised that I didn't get sick or anything like they warn. It was delicious and chocolate is my weakness.
-
Yeah, I am having a little difficulty turning down food too. I have been chewing up things that I like then spitting them out instead of swallowing them just to savor the flavor. I love food and this has been a little difficult as a result. I am just glad that the band is there to help me feel full.

My doctor said that BCBS is actually harder to get approved then even medicaid!! They said that it used to be 12 months, but that BCBS has been working on making it 6 mos. like the other insurance companies.

I am also in the Chicago area. I had my procedure done on December 7th at Mercy Hospital by Dr. Bonomo. I guess he is doing like three a day at this point, so new people should be visiting the site soon from Chicago!
