  1. I could've eaten anything 3 weeks post op. My biggest suggestion would be to follow your doctors diet plan, until you get a few fills you'll probably be able to eat anything. Once you get a few fills you'll be amazed by how much less hunger you feel.
  2. I had no fill at the time of my surgery. I got my first fill 6 weeks post op.
  3. Congrats!! That's so great. I started out in a 26/28 tops and 26 bottoms and now I'm into a size 18. My goal is to be able to shop at a regular department store for my Disney vacation in November. I was banded in October 2010 so my hope is to be down about 100 lbs by then. I'm down 60 lbs now so more then half way there!

    burping and hiccups

It's completely normal. I get the hiccups anytime I'm getting full. Post op I think my husband was shocked to hear me burp so often

    Alcohol??

I'm not much of a drinker, I don't think I had a drink until about 2 months after my surgery (I had a 1/2 glass of wine on christmas eve). I had a small skinny girl margarita (when I say small I mean maybe a 4 oz serving) and I felt a little tipsy. If you're planning on having anything to drink, I would definitely discuss it with your doctor, but don't be surprised if after 1 drink you feel completely drunk
  6. Don't be scared. I had my surgery on October 15, and it's been one of the best decisions of my life. I'm down about 60 pounds and feel so much better. It hasn't always been easy, but it's so worth it!

    Alcohol Consumption

I was banded in October and tonight I had a small glass of Skinny Girl Margarita over a lot of ice. I have to say, after that one drink I felt a little tipsy LOL! I guess the combination of not drinking anything alcoholic for such a long time and only eating small portions throughout the day, really made a big difference in my tolerance.

    bannded 6 days

Early on I had no restriction. Two days post op, I easily could've eaten, but I did follow my doctor's post op recommendations. I was banded in October and have only recently started to get restriction.
  9. I've had issues with pizza, so most times I'll just avoid it. Last week, I did have a 1/2 a slice and ate it really slow and still had a slight issue with getting stuck
  10. While I was waiting for surgery, I started a low carb high protein diet and it really helped jump start my weight loss. I also started exercising prior to surgery because I knew that would help prep for my post op.

    unfill before vacation

I wouldn't do it. I also don't think my doctor would agree to it. People tend to over indulge on vacation (I know I did pre band) and having worked so hard to lose the weight I have lost, I wouldn't want to come home with any extra weight.

    Post-Op Disasters

It will get better. I was up and around two days after surgery, but everyone is different. I had surgery on a Friday morning and on Saturday when my husband was eating dinner I was so hungry. As far as your weight, it will go down you probably have a lot of swelling. I don't think my weigh went down until my one week post op appointment.
  13. I was banded in October and I have a lot of issues with doughy bread. I love bread and carbs but since those items give me a hard time, I've chosen to eliminate them and believe it or not it's not too bad.
  14. Use a heating pad that helped me tremendously with the gas pains.
  15. I love the Unjury Chocolate Splendor. I've also recently started using RTD VHT Extreme Chocolate Smoothie, they're a little pricey, but they are so good and great for when I'm rushing out the door in the morning.

    Protein Shakes

I love the Unjury Chocolate Splendor and I recently found a ready to drink protein shake called VHT Extreme Chocolate Smoothie, that is so good!!

    Grieving Period

I think early on it's more difficult to deal with the loss of indulging in your favorite foods. I'm an emotional eater and in the first few months post op, it was tough at times, to adjust to not being able to eat certain foods. My biggest issues are bread items. I have major issues with pizza, so now I just choose not to have it. At times, its difficult, but it's just not worth the discomfort of eating it.

    I am really afraid!

I had my surgery in October and I just want to help ease your nerves. I had a starting weight of 307 lbs and I'm 5'6. I have a 3 year old and I too, was terrified of something happening during the surgery. Six months and 60 lbs less I can honestly say this was one of the best decisions of my life. I have so much more energy and I feel so much better. Having this surgery has given me so much more confidence and made me feel so much better about myself. Also, as far as something happening during surgery, they run so many pre op tests that I felt confident I would be ok having the surgery. I also felt (and still feel) that if didn't do something about my weight that I wouldn't be around to see my 3 year old grow up. I hope some of this helps you. Good luck w/ your surgery!

    protein and carbs

I try to stay keep my carb intake pretty low. I've always been a bit of a "carb addict" and I have to say that since being banded, I have a very hard time with breads and any type of potatoes, so that has made curbing back on carbs easier. Whatever carbs I do consume are mainly from my veggies.
  20. I read that somewhere on here when I was banded and it helped so much, so I try to pass on that advice whenever people mention gas pains. My biggest pain issues post op were gas pains, and once I started using the heating pad on my 2nd day post op, OMG what a difference.

    Banded April 12

Pain in your shoulders is gas. The thing that helped me the most was a heating pad, walking and also peppermint tea.
  22. I didn't cheat post op mainly because I was scared of throwing up. A lot of my post op hunger was more "head hunger" than anything else.

    had lapband today 4/13/11

A heating pad really helped with my gas pains.
  24. Ricotta cheese, one packet of Splenda, a tiny bit of vanilla extract and a sprinkle of cinnamon. Mix it together and it's really good. Sometimes I'll add some sliced strawberries.
  25. I'll be banded for 6 months on Friday and I've just got restriction. I have 8 cc's in my band, I got a fill last week, and I'm finally at the point where I'm feeling satisfied every 5 or so hours and with much smaller portions.
