After much research since September of 2008, I finally had my surgery in September of 2010. It took me 2 years to decide what was best for me. After having a thyroidectomy, in 2007, I was unable to loose weight, despite exercising and dieting. I really wanted to have the vertical sleeve gastrectomy, however, my insurance will not pay for that procedure. I decided to go with the Lap Band, since it was the least invasive. I am hoping since about 2 weeks post op, that i will lose weight. I started at 285, on 8-30-10 and have gone down to 260, as of today, 9-20-10. Most of that weight loss is due to the pre op diet of all liquids. As of today, I have started some soft foods, but found myself not being able to eat very much, and if I force it, I will vomit. I hope to meet some others who have started their journey and can share advice and exercise tips. I will be going back to work soon and I hope I can continue to be successful in my weight loss! Thank you for reading my story and please communicate... Take Care Linda :)
