I had five fills before the weight started "falling" off. I started hitting the gym 4-5 days a week (I LOVE ZUMBA, btw) and lost 20lbs in 2 months eating 1400 calories a day. I don't feel deprived and I am building muscles I didn't know existed. Next goal is to get rid of the underarm bat wings! My weight loss has slowed a little but I am still averaging 6-8lbs a month, so I am not complaining. The band is a tool, and like most tools, it cannot do the work alone! Good luck, everyone!

Welcome to the club! Way to go! Good luck, everyone!

Onederland is an amazing place!

Welcome to the CLub, Dave! I agree that ONEderland is the happiest place on earth! -
I have had my band for over a year now and have lost over 75lbs but I decided to make this work long term I needed some back-up. So I have started going to therapy. In the last few years, I have made several life changing decisions so why not therapy too? Asking for help is not a sign of weakness but a sign of inner strength, knowing yourself well enough not to be afraid to ask for help. Good luck, everyone!

no motivation! gained weight!

When I decided to have Lap Band surgery, it was a HUGE decision for me. I had NEVER EVER had surgery in my life! I believe that having the lapband was a way for me to hold myself accountable... "Why did I put myself through this if I am going to waste it?" I remind myself of this everytime I have a relapse. Then I just pick myself up, dust myself off, and start over. I always thought the phrase "Nothing tastes as good as being thin feels" was stupid, but, if amended, I can believe it. "NOTHING TASTES AS GOOD AS BEING HEALTHY FEELS!" Good luck, everyone! -
My only concession to that is I no longer drink any type of soda or use real sugar in my baking. I am a splenda girl. I really can't taste the difference now. Good luck, everyone!

I was banded 9/7/10. I have lost a total of 78lbs in a little over a year, inlcuding the Pre-Op diet. I am about 30lbs away from my goal. My surgeon and his staff are very pleased with my progress and have no doubt I will meet and probably exceed my goal. I used to get discouraged if I did not loose as much as other people, but instead chose to focus and my weight loss, how great I feel and how much better I look. You are doing great, so keep it up! Good luck, everyone!

I'm with SageTracey on this. I have hit plateaus a few times in my journey so far and changing up my diet a little bit and varying my exercise routine seems to kick start the loss again. Keep the faith, you are doing great! Good luck, everyone!

CONGRAULATIONS!! I have gone from a 22 to a 16. The smallest thing I had in my closet was an 18, so you know what that means! NEW CLOTHES TIME! It's a great feeling! Keep up the great work and GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

I was banded one year ago today (9/7/10) by Dr Dan Lane in Mobile, AL. What a year it has been! I have lost 75lbs so far and feel great! I went from a size 22 to a 16. My best friend and I are sharing clothes again! I went a 2X uniform pant to a L. I went from a 44DD bra to a 38DD. I am in counseling now to make sure my "ED" doesn't come between me and long term success. I can buckle my seatbelt on plane without asking for an extender (there is actually a little tail left over now!) I go to the gym 4x a week! I discovered Zumba! I LOVE IT! I am considering becoming an instructor I am in ONDERLAND! My BP is down, but not enough to get me off the meds yet :/ The weight is slow to come off right now. I can go weeks without the scale changing I miss eating some things I used to take for granted like bread and pasta What a year! Here's looking to future success and meeting my goal before next September! Good luck, everyone!

Good for you! Keep up the great work and the positive attitude! You are an inspiration!! Good luck, everyone! -
I ZUMBA at my wellness center. I LOVE ZUMBA! I am actually thinking about becoming an instructor. HOWEVER, I have never tried the Wii game. I have Gold's Gym Dance Workout for my Wii and I like it alot. It has alot of similar moves to Zumba. But, I may have to try the Wii game. If any of you have a chance to try a class, go for it! Don't be afraid, there are modifications for everything and you can go at your own pace when you need to. No matter what, just keep moving! Good luck, everyone!

I LOVE MyFitnessPal.com! I use it online and have the app on my iPhone! It really is like a checkbook... helps hold me accountable. LOVE IT! Name is KAKLOS on MFP! look me up! Good luck, everyone!

I have a 14cc band. i was banded one year ago tomorrow. I currently have 10cc in my band. It took several months to get there, but everyone is different. REMEMBER, the band is a tool that has to be used properly, not a magic wand! Keep at it and you will see results! Good luck, everyone!

A question for the ladys
KimK813 replied to twomin2midnight's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OK, I have been on BC since I was 17 and my periods are like clockwork. I had surgery and BOOM, three heavy periods in 6 weeks. Went to my GYN and she said not to worry, surgery and weight loss are a shock to the system. In about 2 months, everything was on schedule again. As for hair loss, make sure you are getting plenty of Protein. I also added Biotin to my supplements. It promotes hair nail and skin health. For me, it worked great! Good luck, everyone! -
Fighting the same 2-3 lbs for almost a month now
KimK813 replied to Swan56's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I recently went on vacation (i missed my goal by 0.2 lbs, but have since met it) then attended a week long class for work before actually returning to work. My eating habits were effected but so was my exercise routine. This week I got back on the right track with everything and the weight is coming off again. You didn't mention what kind of exercise routine you have, but I firmly believe that keeping up a good routine and varying it helps keep you metablolism up. Hope this helps! Good luck, everyone! -
Hit ONEDERLAND today. I have not seen the scale start with a one in years!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Dave- That was an EXCELLENT example. I lost 20lbs in 2 months and now I have plateaued. This is my first real plateau so I am a bit frustrated, but your visual is really helping me! Thanks again and Good luck everyone!

TWO NSV's accomplished at the same time. 1. I got a bra from Victoria's Secret and it FITS! (BTW, the stores only go to a 38DD, but the online catalog goes to a 40DD. I got one from a store!) 2. My BFF and I are sharing clothes again! I raided her closet while here on vacation with the promise to return it when it's too big! We haven't been able to share clothes in 10 years! Good luck, everyone!

Do you use Wii to exercise?
KimK813 replied to lifeisjustbeginning2011's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I use Gold's Gym Dance Workout for my Wii. Got it brand new at GameStop for $19.99. LOVE IT! I think it helps me with Zumba, too, since alot of the moves are similar. Good luck, everyone! -
This may not be the answer you are looking for, but you can change the amount of calories MFP has listed. I do Gold's Gym Dance Workout for my Wii and the MFP calculations are always alot lower than what the game tells me, so I use the game's calorie count. It seems much more accurate. If you can keep up with your heart rate, you can calculate your own calories burned. Try this link: http://www.livestrong.com/article/78365-estimate-calories-burned-heart-rate/ Good luck everyone!

I LOVE ZUMBA! I am 5'3" and 200lbs (now) but started Zumba over 50lbs ago. I go twice a week and would go more if my gym offered more classes. The instructor always encourages people to go at thier own pace, so just get in there and MOVE! Good luck, everyone!
