    November 16th= A new me!

Thanks ! I am looking forward to the next month actually! I am anxious to see what I have to get at the store. I have been trying some different Protein Shakes. From what I have been told my dr requires three sugar free carnation drinks and two meals under 300 calories and some fresh veggies. I drank one of those today and I was amazed at how sweet it tasted for being sugar free! Jen, that would be great if we can keep in touch. I am excited to find someone that has the same day as I do. Where do u live?
  2. Hi ladies, I just got the good news today.. my surgery is for November 16th! I am excited and scared all at the same time. I have to go the 4th for my pre-op testing. I go on the 25th of this month to see the doctor and find out about my pre surgery diet. Seems hard to believe it is finally going to happen. I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas morning!
  3. Hi Everyone!!!! My name is Angie. I just the date of November 16th! I am excited and nervous all in one. I am looking forward to going thru this with all of you! It will help to know that others will be with me. Little about myself. I am 34 and weigh 250, I am a mom of three girls, 16, 13, and 8. I am married to my husband Robert now for four years. We have been together eight. I also have BCBS of Western NY. Strange I am sure, as we live in Springfield, OH. My husband's corporate office is in NY so that is the reason for the insurance. I go see the dr on Monday the 25th for my pre-op visit, and then on the 4th for my pre-testing. Hard to belive but it seems like so much is going on that I won't have time to stop and worry, but I know me! I will find time for that! lol Look forward to talking to all of you! Sorry I rambled on !

    Officially banded!!

Thanks for your story! I had first thought that I was going to be a October Bandster, however, i found out today that i will be a November one intstead! It helps to know what I have to look forward to. I want to hear about the good and the bad!
  5. Got the news today... Surgery is approved by the insurance company. I haven't heard from the dr yet. I am trying to be patient and let them call me. Not sure how well that will work!!! lol I called the insurance company and they told me it was approved and I should have my letter anyday in the mail now. I have a feeling that the surgery will probably be sometime the first week of November. I have so many emotions running through me right now that I want to laugh and cry all at the same time. I can be strange
  6. I am seeing Dr. Teel at Premier Bariatric in Dayton. He is really nice, and his staff is also. I like the fact that he is not that far away. He is about thirty minutes away. I have seen the dietician and the pyschologist and that was nice, everything was done in the same place. I am hoping to hear something back this week from the insurance company. The waiting drives me nuts!
  7. Hi everyone!!!! My name is Angie and I also live in OH. I am in Springfield. I am waiting on my approval from the insurance and then I will be able to be banded. I am excited and trying to be patient all at the same time.. It is driving me nuts! :grouphug: i am looking for people who are also in OH to have as buddies... May I join all of you??
  8. Hi Everyone... I was just wondering if anyone has tried the Special K Protein Shakes. I am trying different ones out to see which has a better taste. I have tried the unjury, eas advantage and the special k. Anyone know of any others that they would recommend would be great! Thanks everyone!
  9. So I have tried several of the different protein shakes, and my main question is this: do they all smell so bad? The taste on them I can deal with for the most part, but that smell is awful on some of them. I don't know maybe it is just me. I have been told I have a very sensitive sniffer. :puke:
  10. I knew before today that I am a hundred percent sure that I want to get banded to make a better life for myself. Today just made me more of aware of why I am doing this! I love to do yard work, plant flowers and dig in the dirt. I love to be active and make the outside of my house pretty. I live in OH and we are having some really nice weather the past couple of days. I decided today to plant my fall flowers and get ready for Halloween! While trying to dig in the dirt and leaning forward my big rear riped out the back of my shorts! Now I could have lived with this if it had just been myself, however when my youngest is out there with me and sees this happen, and starts laughing hysterically and says "mom i told you big people shouldn't bend over". I am more focused now on no longer letting my weight decide my future! I am taking control of my life back! I am going to be free of the worrying and the wondering IF i can do something! I am no longer saying IF, it is now I CAN !!!! This is what i think of the word "if":smash:
  11. "Thanks for the words of encouragement... I have done everything I need to do. All i am doing now is waiting on the approval from my insurance company. This is the part that scares me. I am afraid they will say no; however, I am determined to get it done even if it comes back a no! :puke:

    Special K Protein Shake

Thanks everyone for your input! I do agree that those special K one's are not as hard to get down. I do believe that I was given a packet of that sythac's nectar one when I went to see my dietician, however I think I made it wrong, lol it exploded when I went to shake it up! what can i say I am not the smartest one of the bunch! lol Does anyone know where I can get some samples? Oh and NJSizzla, what is PB2 ?
  15. I found out from the dr today that I am waiting on a paper from my primary care physician and then it will go to the insurance company. Anyone have any idea how long Blue Cross Blue Shield of Western New York takes? I sure hope they don't take long! This waiting stuff drives me nuts!
  16. So I LOVE my sweet tea, and I know that this is something that I have to give up before and after the surgery so I started now. I have been sweet tea free for almost a week now. It has been hard. I have been drinking nothing but water. Today I broke down and made me some decaffeniated tea with no sugar. It is not bad but know where near as good. My questions is how long does the headache last! I have had it for about four days now. The thing i can't figure out is if I am going from four 32 ounce cups of sweet tea down to zero, why haven't i lost any weight? I have been following the pre-op diet that they gave me to get used to doing this before I get my surgery date. Just scared that I am doing this now and not showing any progress, will the lap-band really work?? :smile2:

    caffine withdraws???

HI everyone, Thanks for the encourgement ! I have had tea, however, I have been using equal or whatever type of sweetner I can find that dosen't leave such a funny after taste in my mouth. That is the one problem that I am having now. Seems like almost all of them do, I am just learning which ones are not as bad. I have stayed away from Mcdonalds sweet tea now for a week. It has been hard but I am keeping my eye on the price.

    caffine withdraws???

Thanks everyone, Paula I am wondering why u didn't have to give up your tea? Was it not sweet?
  19. angieboyd

    caffine withdraws???

I have used splenda before, as well as equal. I like both of them. Sometimes it leaves a funny after taste in my mouth. cybele23, what did u mean by a couple of "constant comment tea bags". I have been putting some stuff in my water called "true lemon" with a couple backs of equal. It almost taste like lemonade. It is not bad, but not the same as my sweet tea. :smile2:
  20. I have three daughters that will be looking at me to still cook for them when I do the pre-op diet. Part of my problem has always been tasting what I am cooking, and then when it is time to eat, not eating very much as i have filled up on tasting things. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem and how you dealt with this. How hard is it to still take care of your kids and keep up with the liquid diet and have energy? Any help would be great! Thanks
  21. Went today and saw the psych dr and the dietician. Everything went well. Got the green light from both of them, all I have to do know is what to get the final ok from the insurance company. Both of them sent the paperwork to the dr today. Got good news on the pre-op diet. It is not a full liquid diet for two weeks. I have to drink three sugar free carnation drinks, two frozen meals not to exceed three hundred calories, and two keeps of veggies. Of course I can't have the dressings, or salt. I have to have 64 oz of sugar free drinks. Should I call the insurance company to see if they got the request from the dr or just give it a couple days? I am just so excited and anxious, oh and don't get me wrong, but I am nervous ! but it is a good nervous!

    curious with kids

Thanks Kim, U r so right about what kids being mean to each other. I did find out today that when I do my pre-op diet it is not a all liquid diet. So that will help me with the beginning. The good part is I am hoping that if they at least see me eating something during the beginning then they won't think that I am "starving" myself. Lucky, my girls are a little older, with the exception being my younger one. Like you I am big boned, only I am short. lol I have one daughter that is short, and another that is tall. The young one I am not sure about yet. I am hoping that they continue to stay small ( they get that from their dad) I have my eye on the prize and am excited!

    curious with kids

I go tomorrow to talk with the dietication and the pysch. I am going to ask them of any ideas and tips to get through doing this. I hope it gets easier for you!
  24. I go tomorrow for my psych evalutaion and to see the dietication and from there it should only be about a week. Like you, my insurance dosen't require a waiting period or a six month diet or anything of that nature. Good luck.
