I have fighting my weight since I was 23 years old. after having my first child i started out at 110 then weight to 160 then back to 146. my next child two years later i did the same thing but never lost more then 20 pounds. my babies were smal only weighing in at 6lb 2 oz each one. then i would go a diet loose weight then gain that back with more. so at 55 years old i wieghed 217 stayed that way till my surgery. I have 6 grand children that i want to go out and walk , play ball etc but i can't because of weight and knees. So this journey will be for me and my grandkids oh yea and my husband. Iwill have my  total knee replacement in december but wanted to loose weight before that. One day when i was seeing my knee doctor i told him i would like to look into lap band surgery. He sent a referral to the center for obsesity in gainesville florida. from the time my paper work was put in to the date of my surgery was 10 months. i had to see a doctor for 6 months of supervised weight loss and plus see the head doctor. my surgery was on 8/27/10 at weighed 217 today 9/19/10 i weigh 197. my first fill is on 10/4/10.The only problems i have had is my port site, it did get infected but caught in time with meds and now I am ready for my fill. my site still hurts some but it has only been 3 weeks since surgery. i am looking forward to my journey. i can not wait till i can go and take long walks with my husband and grandkids. alot of vacations to catch up on.
