  1. Thanks seaview. I am also getting that pain in the left shoulder. I thought I was taking small bites and chewing well but maybe I need to step up my game a little.
  2. Thanks guys. Well i am 4 weeks out today. and I had fish for lunch that again didn't settle well. Next week I am suppose to move to solids and I just don't see it happening. Maybe I need to stay on mushies a little longer then expected. Sparkle mine is also 32f
  3. I'm glad I'm not alone. Maybe the sleeve vets can help us out some on what we might be doing wrong or what might help.

few questions from a new sleever...

I can so relate to your situation. I had surgery on 5.21.10 and 1. I was sick to my stomach for about 3 to 4 days but every day got a little better. Believe it or not moving around and walking really helped work the anestetic out of my system 2. Fluids will get easier day by day. Try warm fluids or popsicles which are really cold. Depending on the time of day would determine which one I could get more of. Right now hydration is the main key. Protein will come 3. I am 3 weeks out and I am still rebounding on the energy. I think it is a mixture of lose of fluids/dehydration and the anestetic that is in our systems. Remember that you may have some additional issues because you were a previous band patient. Allow yourself time to heal and just do all you can to keep hydrated. I wish you luck

    Diarrhea after vsg???

I was sleeved on 5.21.10 and had the same problem. It seems to resolve itself once you start some semi mushy foods.

    I'm home.....again.

I'm glad your home but Ihope you start feeling better very soon. Don't worry the weight will come off you just need some time for the swelling and fluids to leave and for you to get well.

    Ummm......

I agree.. shame on your friend for not stepping up to the plate. Keep thinking positive. You will be ok. Just remember you will be feeling better little by little every day. Walk sip rest... walk sip rest....
  10. It's normal to feel the way you do. The biggest thing is to work all that anestec (sp?) out of your system. Constantly sip and walk even small distances as much as possible. I also did gator aide when I was really weak to help with the electrolites.

    Protein HELP/SUGGESTIONS

I use a flavorless protein powder "Designer Whey" and I mix that with Greek Yogart, cottage cheese and a little fruit, soup, anything that has a creamy texture. Once it's mixed in I can't taste it at all. It's an idea.

    Do I really look "sick"?

Tiff, I had an appointment with my dietician over a week ago regarding my goal weight and she mentioned to me that our close family and friends will need an adjustment period. I asked why and she said that people that love us end up remembering us as overweight and when we lose so much the are not sure how to adjust. We look smaller to them and so much different that to them we do look sickly. It made since to me.

What are you looking forward to?

Kathy... I agree with you. People really don't see how they treat over weight people. What is even more heartbreaking is that if its not doing something mean then it is just ignoring or looking past you. I am not sure which is worse.

    Sagging skin?

I am in the same boat as you, worried about the sagging skin. I think everyone worries about it. But I have made a commitment to the gym starting the week after next and hopefully building some muscle while I lose will help me. I also think that waiting 1 to 2 years after weightloss for any type of reconstruction is a very good guideline. We will be losing so fast that our skin needs time to adjust and mode to the new frame. My mom has already "determined" that I will want my breasts done so she has started a "boob fund" in my honor. LOL. Thanks ma. But I really don't think much about the skin anymore, the most important thing to me right now is getting this weight off.

    strawberries

Crap... I had strawberries today... and I am 15 days out!!!
  25. I too was in the process for the band approval with my insurance co. until I recieved a call stating that my insurance guidelines had changed and they were now offering the sleeve as an option. I did my research for 48 hours and after that I made the decision to go with the sleeve and never looked back to the band. What made my decision? The probability that my insurance co. would only cover one weight loss surgery, If I was going to go through surgery it was going to be the one that would help me get what I want... those two reason's alone were the first 2 reasons that came to my mind and then others and others followed. Really consider both... for me hunger and cravings were a huge issue. I would not be worried about changing doctors and the extra time. The way I look at it is why rush and end up maybe having to have surgery twice?
