  3. Well I have been doing some reading and everything I read says that cardio in the morning is best for burning the most fat since it is before you have eaten anything and have fasted with no carbs all night long. My issue is that I have sever Hypothyroidism and mornings are very hard for me. Has anyone else heard that doing cardio in the morning is the best?

    Was it worth it?

Maddie, I am only 5 weeks post op but I remember exactly where you are. I promise things will get better. The more that you can get your protein in and slowly get more calaries and walk - the pounds will start falling off. Everyone go's through the frustration it just may be a different times. It does get better day by day just continue doing what you know you should be doing. :thumbup1:

    Kinda bummed!!!!

I would definately say that if you are comfortable with the doctor then it's time to do the injections. It's only a precaution and definately to keep you safe. I remember doing the Heprin injections in the hospital and I didn't even feel them. Hopefully your injections will be the same way at home.

    Is Protein Pudding Possible?

I have done the jello with whey powder mixed and it was great. I also did the same with pudding, mashed potatoes and soups.
  7. Well guys I have a few things going on that I need your help with. 1. For the last 3 days I noticed that under my eyes is dark. I have never had that problem before. 2. I left work early today because of pain on my right side under my ribs and it hasn't gone away. I scheduled an appointment with my surgeon for tomorrow morning but I wanted everyone's opinion.

Ok guys I need your help

Yes still have my gallbladder and no not taking that med.
  9. It sounds to me from all that I have read on the forum - that you are not getting enough protein or maybe calaries. I am 1 month post op and it takes planning but I get in about 70 - 76 grams of protein a day because I do cottage cheese and greek yogart for snacks and add flavorless protein powder.

    1 Month & Look What I LOST!!!!!!

Christi you look great. I can really see it in your face and stomach. Keep it up. You really look amazing.
  15. Well guys I am exactly 1 month post op today and I weighed at the gym this afternoon. I am exactly 41 pounds down!!! I can not believe it. I am very tall and had alot to lose so I am just now starting to see the weight loss in my clothes and see it in certain areas of my body. I am so excited. I think I am starting to get a feel for how slow to eat and chewing. But then in a few weeks I go to solid foods so I am sure that will just stir it up again. Thank you to everyone for the last month and prior to that and all your support. :001_wub:
  16. Thanks guys... Dickson - nope no complications everything went really well. Just normal post op stuff Christi - I plan on taking pics but I was afraid I wouldn't notice enough of a distance and get discouraged.
  17. I have noticed since surgery that I get cold more often. I mean freezing cold and my house is the same temp setting as before surgery. I also notice that I can't tolerate heat. I live in Florida and needless to say, when I had to walk post op it was hard because of the heat. It makes me feel horrible. Did anyone else experience this?
  18. I am 4 weeks post op and I can say that I have gone out every tuesday night with the girls since I came home. But I have never been on a cruise so I can't say how that I be but I can say that being social and eating out I have overcome the drawbacks. I have either had soup, or something mushy like a side of mashed potatoes, whatever met my food restrictions. It was difficult at first becaue your mind is in the frame of mind you should be able to order a drink, eat what you want, or eat while talking. But after a few weeks I have mastered taking my time cutting up my food, requesting my appetizer to be delivered with the other ladies food, playing with the food on my plate before putting a small bite in my mouth, puttng my fork down while I chew, and really talking and making eye contact. That and I have also found that asking for a dogging boxes as soon as everyone is done eating really helps because your not looking at all the left overs and wising you could just eat it for them. Just some lil ideas.
  19. I really really feel for you. I am only 4 weeks out but we started around the same heaviest weight. I too believe I have the emotional eating problem as well but not so much right now because of being post op only 4 weeks. Maybe it's time to consider some group or one on one therapy to get through this? It's not something I would like to do but if it came down to back steping and gaining the weight back and possibility injuring myself... I would definately give it a good few weeks and try it. Other then that I would engulf myself in reading books on bariatric surgery and the emotional eating stuff, just to wrap myself up into it and realizing what was happening to me. Just some ideas but I really hope you find some help. if you ever need to talk don't hesitate to send me a message.

    Needing Advice/Help!

I am 4 weeks out. I don't have a problem with Protein shakes but... what phase of food are you on? If your still on liquids then the most important thing is for you to get in your fluids so you don't get dehydrated. Once you can have puddings try Proti Max pudding, you might need to google it. They have 6 grams of protein but they taste pretty good. Once your on mushy foods you can have cottage cheese, bonibel cheese, scrambled eggs, tuna fish salad and other things like that that really are loaded with protein. I can almost meet my daily protein requirements with food but it takes planning and really looking at food. I have also heard that the Nectar protein is really good and doesn't have the whey smell or taste since you don't mix it with milk. Plus they have a thousand flavors. Hope this helps. Trust me your swelling will go down some and things will get better.
  21. Maybe you should ask your doctor to put you on liquid lortab. That's what I was on. I can not begin to tell you have moving around and walking helps also. But I do know that even that doesn't help with some pains. I actually had a massage about 4 or 5 days post op that only lasted 30 minutes but was sooooooo worth the 30 bucks I spent on it. Other then that I bought liquid tylenol for adults to help me get through. Hope this helps.
  22. At the start of my full liquid stage I wasn't able to finish a 4 oz yogurt but then as time went on I was able to. Now I can do a 4 oz yogurt as long as I eat slowly taking about 15 to eat. I love Greek yogurt because it's so high in protein.
  23. Your not insane or alone. If you have been doing the liquid preop diet and your surgery is coming up - all the feelings you are having are normal. I guess you really just have to make the decision for yourself. To me... I was able to make the decision by thinking that changing my habit of bite size and portion size was not a big deal. I think that as a society we are programed to eat more. It was easier for me to make the decision when I realize that it wasn't ALWAYS going to be SO restrictive on what I could eat and that it wouldn't always be 2 oz of protein. I have obsticals with readjusting to eating so little and with my portion sizes being so small but I am dealing ok. Everyone on the board is great and there is so much knowledge on here.

    Im always cold!!!!!!!!

I'm 4 weeks out and I can say that I am freezing more times then not. It must be something to do with eating less calories.
  25. Hey guys, Well tomorrow I am 4 weeks post op. Tonight I had my first real protein meal, I have been sticking to crab salad, chicken salad, tuna salad as long as it had mayo and could go down easy. I am finding this to be very difficult. I gew really well but I am having a hard time taking small enough bites or swallowing too much food at once. I end up having a pain in my left shoulder and an uncomfortable feeling. HELP!! /cry :tongue2::001_wub:
