    Acai berry!

Meagan, I have tracked your progress and you are one of my role models for when I finally get approval from my insurance co. I tried the acai berry stuff with the cleanse but it did nothing for me. It might be different because your banded but I am not sure. Your doctor wont allow you to go on a payment plan for one fill? Maybe 50.00 a month or something? At least at 50.00 a month your parents might be able to assist or you can save money through the month. Just an idea.
  3. Megan, I am concerned for you. I have not had the band yet but I can say that I can only imagine how it would feel to lose all or most of my weight and start to gain. But at the risk of your health? That can not be worth it. First you have to address the vomiting and other health issues then address the reason why the band isn't working. I work in the medical field and having a doctor you trust and have faith in is another key to success. Find another doctor. One that will help you get through this.
  4. Hi ladies, I am also pre op. I am 30 years old with no children and I think this is the first time in my life I have truely put myself first. I would love to have some friends to connect with during this process. I'm guessing my surgery will take place around June but I am going through the pre sugery diet requirement. I wish everyone the best of luck!

    Hello Fellow Lap Band Friends!

Welcome Teach I am also in the insurance approval process and looking at mid June for my sugery. I am already drinking protein shakes every morning. The protein I am using is Designer Whey Protein. I switch between French Vanilla and Choc. I also tried the Unjury brand which I really liked but it seemed very expensive. I think it is all about preference. But if I can give any advise it is not to judge the protein just one first try. At least give a second go of it. Welcome to the site. There are so many helpful people on this site. And alot of success stories to help keep you motivated. Welcome and I am sure I will see more of you.
  6. I have not been banded, but I do work in the medical field. My best recommendation is for you to see the doctor. It sounds that it has been going on too long to be a virus and too long for it to be your digestive system adjusting to the band. See your doctor if for nothing else then ease of mind.
  7. Kirafiki, your weight loss is amazing and very motivational for me. Thank you for sharing and what a wonderful job you have done.

  8. Just a quick question. Has anyone tried doing body wraps to help with te sagging skin? I have heard that doing them routinely during the coarse of the journey will help with the sagging skin but wanted to check to see if any one has experienced it first hand.

    Body wraps?

I have never had one before. I might try one but just wanted to see what other's opinion were.

From 336 to 298!! Still don't see much difference. =(

We really can tell a difference. Keep it up!
  13. Hi Tracy, I have not had the band yet but I have been an active gym person for almost a year now. I stopped smoking at he same time that I stopped smoking. But anyway for the last two weeks I have not been able to go to the gym due to some problems with my hips and BOY!! I can tell the difference in my eating habits. I know I need to get back to the gym and regardless of the hip pain I am going back Monday. I have been doing the same as you and that is GRAZING. I think that being active and exercising releases those "feel good" hormones that help us stay on track. I wish you all the luck in the world. Let us know how everything works out.
  14. What a great thread! I have not had the band yet - still in my 6 month supervised diet phase but to keep myself from eating I read, surf the net, quilt, do my nails during my favorite shows, whitening my teeth, and anything and I do mean ANYTHING..... to keep my hands busy and my mind off food.

    Discouraged!!!

I have not had the lap band yet. I am still in my 6 month supervised diet phase. But I have been going to the gym faithfully for almost a year now. Well this is the second time this has happened but I have inflamation in my hip flexors which is limiting my cardio time. I am trying to stay active in the gym because I want it to be a life change and something I continue to do. But I don't see where I can keep this up until I loss some weight where working out wont be so hard on my joints and body. Am I crazy for thinking this way?

    Discouraged!!!

The gym I go to is really small and doesn't have any type of pool. It being more small is the reason I love it so much and the reason why it's so easy for me to go to because I feel comfortable going there. The other plus is that it is right downstairs from my work. With it being right downstairs I don't even have a chance to talk myself out of going.
  17. You are very much an inspiration to me. Would love to see some before and after pics as well. I sent you a friend invite to keep tabs on you and your progress.

  18. I know exactly how you feel. I have been wanting the band for over 2 years now and finally my insurance changes to one that will cover it but I have to do a 6 month pre & supervised diet. I have 3 more months. The only thing that I have found that helps is researching the procedure. Looking at any and ALL information. I must have read every post on this forum. But it really helps and gets your mind set right. I even did the virtual model to know what I look like once I hit goal. Looked at menus to see how far in advance I will need to prepare food once I can eat solids. I have done all kinds of things. Even watched the procedure on Youtube. Those things really help though
  19. You are such a success story. you look amazing

  20. Hey Bermuda.. Thanks for the advise you left on my page. I will definately take note of all the suggestions. I found you on the thyroidism group members list. I had no one on my friend list prior to now. I have 3 months left on my 6 month supervised diet requirement and I thought " ya know, it's time to be more active on the forum". So I started sending some invites to people with similar siuations. Good luck to you and I hope to talk to you soon.

  21. I wish you all the luck in the world. It doesn't seem impossible to me. Keep moving and drink water and watch your cals. Take it from another woman who was cheated on and left because of the "just to fat" reason, I understand completely how you want jaws to drop. You will have to keep me updated and let me know how it go's. Good luck!

  24. Well guys, I found out 11/01/09 that my insurance will be changing 1/1/10 to a policy that will cover the lap band. I went to my first seminar on 11/05/09 and my second one on 11/10/09. My consultation is scheduled for tomorrow just to start the ball rolling. I know that my new insurance plan will require a 6 month physican supervised diet. Anyone have any suggestions? I have thought of going to my PCP now and just self paying for the visit just to get things started. What do you guys think? Anyone have the same experiences?
