  1. I would also have to say it sounds like acid. I would try not eating before exercising to give your body enough time to process it and get rid of the acid. If that doesn't work then I would definately take an additional anacid.
  2. Hey guys, Well I am trying to make a check list. Tomorrow I will be two week post op can can move to soft foods. With that being said, Monday is my first day back at work and I am confused on how much to eat... when to eat... what to eat... I think I am losing my mind. Help!!
  3. Thanks Pnw218. I am really concerned with the portion sizes. But 2 oz sounds doable. Now I just have to get the timing right with nothing to drink 30 minutes before or after I eat. 2 oz even sounds big to me right now if it is dense meat like chicken salad. But this does help. Thank you.

    Newbie questions

Keep in mind that even a yearly women exam takes your weight. Or going to the emergency room, or an urgent care center. Anywhere that took your weight. Even if you had a gym membership. Anything along these lines helps with the requirement and could be pushed on the insurance co. to use. They are just needing something to say that you were overweight.
  5. My niece and sister lives in Pensacola... well Milton. I lived there for a year. I think the biggest difference between Jacksonville and Pensacola is that there was at least a little breeze in Pensacola because the gulf was right there. Jax just has the ocean and rivers everywhere so you feel like your in mud all the time. But the cold feeling.. I have only lost 20 something pounds and I freeeze now.

    I'm in Freaking hell

Curves, I agree some with every post. But I can also relate with you. I was in a relationship for 10 years and it was similar to yours. I can tell you until I am blue in the face to leave him but I know from my own experience that you have to want it and be ready for it mentally and emotionally. I know this time is hard for you. But like someone else said is a very good idea to cause some distance between the two of you. You know that you don't want to be with this guy, but your afraid of being alone or maybe just needing some time to adjust. Either way.... reflect on what you need rght now and in one way or another move forward even if it is in small steps.

    Need Your Expertise

I am an insurance specialist and I agree that Aetna is covering VSG BUT.... every plan out there pretty much is.. it's a matter of the options in coverage that the employer has selected. So if your husbands employer updated the Aetna package on Jan 1st of this year, it could be that they no longer op to cover bariatric surgery. I would call the human resoarces department for your husbands employer and ask them. While your asking them if it is a covered benefit also ask them if there is requirements that have to be met. For example, my company made it mandatory that the employee was employeed with the company and held insurance with the company for 2 years. And it was 2 years anniversary from your 90 day mark. This insured that people did not jump around with insurance coverage. They also had a 6 month supervised diet requirement. Until 4.1.10 they only covered the Lap band and not VSG. *I'm happy they updated that one*. So you see... it really does weigh heavy on the employers decision. Hope this helps.
  9. Well tonight I had my first stage of Full Liquids. I made mashed potatoes (soupy). They were so good because I was starting to feel hungry. The only thing that has me concerned is that I ate 4 ozs of them before I was full. It seemed like alot for me post op. What do you guys think?

What are you looking forward to?

What a wonderful thread... I want heads to turn when I walk into a room and not think it must be that I look huge in what I am wearing I want to go on a cruise without my first thought being "no way, that means a bathing suite". I want to wear cute dresses without thinking "cankles" I want to be able to flirt without worring what the guy must be thinking about my weight. I want to be able to choose the guy I want to be with without settling for one. I want to be more active in everything I do.

    Becoming frustrated with nutritional balance

Maybe it's time for a protein shake change? Something with higher protein, less carbs and fat?

    Got a date and questions!

I can only imagine what you are going through. I myself went through a stage of wanting to eat anything and everything I could pre op. I think it is a mental thing like seperation anxiety or something. I think it is completely normal. I didn't have the band, but I can say that food wise after the sleeve was done.... I still don't really have an appetite. I eat but really a tiny amount of food resolves my cravings. I hope this helps.

ZUMBA- where have you been all my life????

I want to try Zumba but my doctor gave me strong advise to wait until I am closer to 6 weeks post op and I work up to being more active since I am only 2 weeks post op right now. So starting next week, its all about getting cardio in slowly and buildng myself up.

    Just my luck

I was in the same boat as you pre surgery. Be sure to let your surgeon know if there is any congestion or fever. Me... I didn't have congestion so much as just post nasal drip and a scratchy throat. I think they pump you full of antibotics and fluids. By the time I was cohearant from surgery all my cold symptoms were gone because of all the antibotics and fluids. SO my advise is to continue unless you have congestion and fever. Or if you just have one of those. I hope for the best... Good luck

    gastroenteritis anyone? :(

I hope both of you feel better soon. I work in the medical field and of coarse right now the most important thing is fluids and staying away from dehydration. I am sure your stomach needs some time to adjust and feel better from the virus or infection. Feel better soon...

    Because I'm a Geek...

I don't think I have gotten to the alarm stage yet because I still can't eat more then once a day.. I am trying to get fluids in. But I do plan on eating more starting Friday since I start back to work Monday. I need to do the same thing and outline when I need to drink lol

    pain on left side

I am only 2 weeks post op but I have the left shoulder pain aswell. I am think it must be something they do in the procedure because the pain I have is more then gas pain.

    Two Weeks Since Surgery

I would not worry. If anything try to get more fluids in. You are alot more active then I am right now. But you might just need to give your body a break and understand it just went through alot in surgery. It will happen... I have faith.

    any suggestions

I have to second everything that Tiffy listed. I also stayed in my hospital gown because of dressing changes and they also gave shots to my lower abdomen for blood clots.
  20. Yep my first post op appt at day 11 was today... and I have lost 20 lbs. since the day of surgery. I find that so amazing..... :thumbup1:
  21. Hi Txrdnk - Thanks for the message. I am not sure but I think that alot of my weight loss right now has to do with me having to lose so much. They say the more you have to lose the faster you loss it it first. I guess we will see lol. Other then that I have been pushing fluids from just being scared of dehydration.

  22. Thanks guys... I really think it is because I have so much to lose.

    Day 7: My Protein Struggle

I am 11 days post op and I am having enough problems just trying to get the 64 oz of fluids in. I am also worried about the protein because I know for a fact that I am not getting that in. I am in the same boat as you.
