When will I feel normal again?

I was banded on November 17th and felt the exact same as you. Gas pains were not unbearable, and by back was the sorest part. But it has been a week now and today is the first day that I have no pain. I am feeling so much better. My doctor likes to have his patients go onto solids as soon as possible and i think that that has helped me mentally get over not eating as much. I have been getting really tired in the afternoon but my surgeon says that it is normal. But just letting you know that the first three days are the worst and when a week comes round you should be feeling closer to normal. And I am sure that after another week or so, you will be fine.
Congrats on your surgery and good luck for your first week!
Lilly

2. Hey all, I had my surgery last wednesday evening. I am not sure how I am feeling at the moment... yesterday I had incredible backache and today I am so stiff after sleeping on my side. AHH I hoped it would not be this painfull, but I guess it could be worse. Having the band is such a different experience than I thought it would be. I swear that I knew what I was expecting, but everything is different. I am not sure how little/much I should be eating? .. whether I am even hungry? .. or when I will be feeling better?.. I am feeling sorry for myself I think.. but hopefully these next couple of days will be better and I will feel happier about the decision that I made. I have read about many people that say that the first 3 or so days are the worst, so I am hoping that I am more positive tomorrow!

    November bandsters unite!!

Hey all, Good luck for everyone who is doing the pre-op diet or is about to start. I would love to know how you are coping with it!! I'm very scared I will find it extremely hard to stick to for the two weeks especially because I will be on holiday so won't be very busy... I don't start it until Nov 3rd so have a while yet! So let me know how you go!!! Not too long now

    November bandsters unite!!

Ahh I am so excited to get started! I have to do 2 weeks of an all shake diet prior to my surgery.. so I am so nervous about sticking to that! I think I will find it especially hard because I will have a lot of social events then because everyone is back from university.. But hopefully I will do ok!! Amy, are there many foods that you are unable to eat at the moment? I guess it will be different for everyone.. Also, is anyone going to carry on with therapy or counselling after they have had the band? I have heard that it is a very helpful thing to do.. but not sure?! Not too long now...

Hey guys, I am booked for 17th November 2010. I am from New Zealand and only 18.. but I am excited to start this journey! Lilly
  9. Hi all, I am new to this forum but am excited to be here!! I am booked for my lap band surgery on 17th November 2010. I am 18 years old and live in New Zealand. I am currently finishing my first year at university before I go back to Auckland to have my surgery. I am nervous yet excited about this journey, I wish it could begin sooner. I am a bit apprehensive about how it will be due to my age and whether it will cause frustrating restrictions for the rest of my life. But I am positive that this is the best option for me. I enjoy reading everyones stories on this forum, you have all inspired me. It would be great to talk to some people who have been through this, so feel free to comment and give me some advice. Lilly
