Questions about bariatric surgery
neenee717 replied to skyewolfe's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Make sure you process this stuff with the therapist and be aware of how changes can affect your relationship. My doc reminded me of this. It's the weight loss but sometimes you can have mood swings, but outside of that the improvement in self esteem and activity level can bother some. I had several melt downs my first 2 weeks with band, hormones all over the place with rapid loss and post surgery recovery. I was irritable too only being allowed liquids only like 1/2 cup broth every couple of hours. And all of the behaviors and crying spells were unusual for me. Was not like that before surgery -
I'm taking the celebrate plus chewable with iron. It's big but I'm okay with it. I do 1 tab 2x per dau

Questions about bariatric surgery
neenee717 replied to skyewolfe's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
And to add to that my surgeon indicated they have found in past few years long term band success is rare. Don't get me wrong there are some who have been extremely successful but the percentage is low -
Questions about bariatric surgery
neenee717 replied to skyewolfe's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I've been banded for 7 years and in the process of getting authorization for band to sleeve revision. It's up and down with the band. Too tight or too loose. Lose/gain/lose/gain and hit repeat! I've never had slippage but being too tight had many vomiting episodes and too loose I'm ravenous. My body at 5' 3 and with band I dropped at lowest to 164. But that was 30 miles per week of running/6 days per week of working out and throwing up or not being able to eat like I needed with band. Also the adjustment costs add up after a while -

Nearly a year in and Not losing weight.
neenee717 replied to Treacle927's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If you've been going to the doctor it sounds like he is not putting in enough. It didn't take me 7 to get restriction and I have a large band. On your appt, ask doc to fill you more. I do t know about y but fills are costly. What size is your band? -
The senior meal isn't much cheaper, maybe 1 dollar. And these restaurants give no Discounts with BariatricPal card, they don't care

Depends on your tolerance level. I eat grits with no issues, but bread, biscuits, corn chips, corn bread had me feeling like I would die! Then it's stuck/lodged sometimes for hours.

It sounds disappointing but they can't foresee what your insides look like from outside and you would not want him poking around with minimal visibility. There's a risk of damaging vital organs. Talk with your surgeon and with your nutritionist. I'm not sure what your surgery weight is. Hang in there???? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Green Spot / Sweet Spot - How do you know?
neenee717 replied to Treadmillwalker's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If what you're eating now makes you full then that's your sweet spot, especially if your not gaining or really hungry shortly thereafter. Just tell that to doc when u go back. They schedule u for folks to check on progress and for you to let them know you reach satiety after you eat. Then typically they'll leave it alone Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Green Spot / Sweet Spot - How do you know?
neenee717 replied to Treadmillwalker's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It honestly varies person to person depending on size your band etc. I have a large 14cc band. When I got to sweet spot you have the full feeling not being miserable. What I struggled with is leaving food on my plate. I think that's the biggest thing most have to over come. Many times I was greedy and felt the pouch full, but because I liked what I was eating, I would wait and push it. Then...... stuck, miserable, sliming, vomit. I knew I wasn't in the sweet spot when I could eat close to a regular size plate or drink beverage right after eating Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
@@hmm33502 how long did it take for you to get approval for revision. Just started process and I was banded in 2010. Endoscopy in 2 weeks Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Also it's a going to be a learning process. What others can tolerate some can't. I cannot tolerate bread or corn products. I didn't know that at first until I've had embarrassing episode of vomiting after eating when I was on vacation in Europe. I was hungry and ate way to fast. You'll learn! Why is the band tighter in the morning?
neenee717 replied to send2steph's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I haven't heard that but for me it's hormonal. I'll be real tight week before and first few days of cycle, doc says it's due to internal bloating and swelling since the band was tighten to restriction Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Scar tissue causing almost impossible fills 9 yrs post-op
neenee717 replied to Firebolt's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Starting to have issues with my port flipping and I had first painful fill ever. I've been banded 6 yrs. doc said it's time to come as there's a small margin of success after a few years but they didn't know that years ago. He recommended I have revision to sleeve and I'm starting the process next week. I also have to have endoscopy done and I so dread that Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Band to sleeve failure and revision questions
neenee717 replied to Nowheregirl's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I've just started process to have my band revised to sleeve. Make sure you're getting all your nutrients in. And perhaps talking with doc about blood work maybe to check Vitamin levels/blood sugar. Not saying this is you, but for me at times my stomach growls because I've gotten myself used to over eating at times. Try occupying yourself with another activity Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
what did your dr say about weight gains
neenee717 replied to shirley36's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I did have a gain but not quite that amount. I ended up getting a couple of fills til I met restriction and really for serious about what I ate and also working out. Don't worry I've fallen many times and appears in on the roller coaster again. Just have to stay committed. Kudos to all who lost it and kept it off but for many it's a struggle and process. You can do it! Also I joined a gym and got a trainer and that helped tremendously -
Been banded almost 5 yrs and never an issue. Abdominal pain all week and rush to ER all day Friday. Doc unfamiliar with lap band. Got cat scan with contrast and ultrasound. Gallbladder, appendix and pancreas fine. Negative cat scan. Normal ultrasound. Lots of gas, nausea when eating and smelling food, abdominal pain all over. I'm so over this. Band hasn't been adjusted in about 2 yrs since I reached green zone. Also put on about 8lbs in 2wks time. Off my normal routine. Did I mention I'm in another state on business????
