anewme0108 replied to Eroper6's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Loving life....I too feel more sore now than when I had banding done. I said the same thing about eating the band was so horrible where there times I couldn't even swallow saliva without it coming back up but when loosened I gained weight back ugg such a battle. But I am certain I have made the right choice to have rny done. We are gonna do great -

Hi all just wanna say my band revision to rny went good dr also repaired a hernia which he said he finds common after the banding. I am up walking around a bit here and there and have a lot of gas yet as my body isn't so cooperative in letting it out. I may even get to go home later today just have a few things to wait on yet. I start clear liquids this am and want to see if I am capable of holding them down before making that decision -

urkeelingme...I do understand how you feel. I also couldn't lose weight with anything I tried, even after having the lapband. I have lost some but the weight came back. So this also is my last option. I do have faith this will work for us and we will not be trapped in a fat body. Good luck with surgery tomorrow. Please keep us updated with how you are feeling -

Hi everyone, I just read through the posts and want to say congratulations to those of you who had your surgery. I am happy to hear what you are experiencing right after surgery so I know what to kind of expect. I was nervous for awhile but now not so much because I do have faith in my surgeon. I am more excited and looking forward to mine being done, which is Monday the 13th of Jan. I was wondering how it was gonna be once I got home and the getting up and down and in and out of bed, which you have shared. I am curious how long that will last. I do hope not so long . Oh I forgot to mention my surgery is going from lapband to rny. -

Hello everyone, I have a surgery date for Jan. 13th. I am so hppy and can't wait -
For almost a week now no matter what I eat I get a burning sensation in my stomach. I only get a few bites and bam...I feel it. I have been fine otherwise. I can eat without food getting stuck and have not had any fills in a while. This just happened out of nowhere. Does anyone else have or had this issue and possibly know what it could be from. I have had my band since Oct. 2009.

GuyMontag Thank you for the info and sharing with me your experience with the prilosec. I have been on vacation and just got back from a Florida trip. I have been using it since the Dr. told me to and it is helping. maddib76 ......I hope you are feeling much better, please let me know how things are going since you had some saline removed, thanks.
-
I had the Dr. visit. I didn't really need fluid removed, he offered to take some out but instead I opted to take prilosec or equivalent over the counter for one week to see if that helps.
-
Oh yes...I know what you mean about the acid reflux too and there is a difference. I called my band Dr. and going in to see him tomorrow. They may take saline out but I am struggling to lose weight now as it is. I would prefer not to have any taken out now because most of the time I don't feel much restriction but at other times I do. I would be okay with taking something over the counter for heartburn but first want to make sure there is not some underlying reason for it. Also called my primary care and she is thinking it may be a good idea for upper gi to be done.
-
Thank you all for the good advise. I am going to call the Dr. in the morning. I also wasn't sure which Dr. to call, my primary or my band Dr. I think I will start with the band Dr.

Looking for a specific protein shake please help
anewme0108 replied to hely88's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I saw where someone else posted this as well, but I use whey protein shake by body fortress...I like the taste of this as well as price at wal-mart. -
OMG!!!This is me also. I have had surgery in 2009 I had gotten my weight down to 165 . After 2 years I lost jobs and insurance and without having fills I paid more attention to the hunger again and not what I was eating needless to say I gained almost all my weight back. I have now started getting insurance again and now gonna start to get back on track. It easy to say get rid of the junk food in the house but hard to do when you have people in the house who do snack on junk foods but they don't over do it with the stuff. I can't tell them don't bring it home. Somehow I just have to tell myself do not touch it....lol.

Does Anyone Knw If Flying Effects Restriction
anewme0108 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For my vacation I flew to Pa. to visit family and friends. I have been here about ten days now and I have noticed ever since I flew here my restriction is so tight and has gotten to the point I can't even keep fluids in. I have visited the E.R. in hopes they could releive the band a little. They have given me the name of a band dr. I can see. But I do have to fly back home and worried I will go through this all over again. Please let me know if anyone has gone through this or something similar. Thanks... Teri -
Does Anyone Knw If Flying Effects Restriction
anewme0108 replied to anewme0108's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@judych...glad you got your unfill and feeling better and that it all worked out for ya after the mix up with patient files. I suppose I can understand the mix up with the way the Dr. travels. As for getting unfill. I would say if you are eating comfortably and not having any issues when you get ready for your flight you will probably be ok. But maybe talk with your Dr. he may know better because apprently it does not effect everyone. Good luck...Teri @marce1...wish I had your luck ....Teri -
Does Anyone Knw If Flying Effects Restriction
anewme0108 replied to anewme0108's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know stress effects the band also. When I saw the Dr. here she took out 3/4 of a cc. She was wanting to take a full cc but I only wanted 1/2 cc removed...so we met in the middle . We both are thinking that should be enough taken out for now so that if the flight back home does effect me, I should be comfortable in a few days after getting home. I just want to be back in ny sweet spot -

Yea I understand the worry after reading my post. I guess a few things to keep in mind is that (1) you have not had a fill yet so you may not feel the restriction I have had, (2) it seems like it doesn't effect everyone, which is a good thing, and last, try not to worry. Because I know worry and stress effects us and tightens us up. Good luck on your trip -

My band is a 10 cc band and was filled to 6.3. But Went to a Dr. here that E.R. had contacted for me to see. Thier office just took out 3/4 of a cc for me so I am feeling much better and fluid running smoothly through again. AH that is such a relief...lol. But asked Dr. my question and they said yes flying can effect the band restriction and make it tighter. My flight is only 2.20 hrs.. But since they just took that much out I should be good for my flight home. Thank you all for your input...Teri
