My stomach just Growled really loud
YouGotBiggie replied to Juliat's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My stomach Growls all the time. I am never hungry but it will just do it. -
When I come on to this forum, I treat it like I am watching the evening news. Most of what you read is going to be negative but there is always going to be an uplifting story somewhere. It is just Human nature that you are going want to talk about the bad. People just don't share the good as much and they wants to share the bad. As for my Journey, It has been one of ups and downs. The Good things are: 1. I have lost 80lbs in 6 months. 2. I don't really think about food anymore 3. I am feeling great 4. It isn't has hard as I thought it was going to be. Still I have times when some of the negatives you are reading about come into effect, but I would have the surgery again tomorrow. Just remember that people that are Happy, don't need to get on the internet to tell people but if you are unhappy you are going to look in this forum for someone to share it with.

Can you be to overweight for lap band
YouGotBiggie replied to catherinecon's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I started out at 440lbs, Most people still don't believe I was that big, I am 6'1' so I carried the weight well. My Surgeon wanted me to get down to 400lbs before he would operate. It took me a month and a half to get there but I got the surgery. I was Banded September of last year and after a few months of maintaining, I have started to see the weight come down. It took me a little longer to get restricted because my port flipped in November and I couldn't get in to fix it until January. I have since lost another 30lbs. As long as the Morbid Obese realize that it is going to take longer and also that it is a learning experience then we should do fine. My family always ask me if I can eat certain foods and my stock answer is, I don't Know but I can give it a try. -
How would I know if my band has slipped?
YouGotBiggie replied to Joy82's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Suck on some Ice Chips and see if you can keep that down. But yes it sounds like it was too big of a fill. After your Fill did you drink a cup of water? Did it go down? -
Having my first band fill on Tuesday
YouGotBiggie replied to dcowens's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Don't listen to the person you talk to on the phone. My Doc told me I would be able to eat more until I was properly restricted. He said to make the transition easier to eat what I could. Try every kind of food. Take small bites and see how it goes down. That is the only way he can tell if there is proper restriction. If I only ate what I am suppose to when I do get properly restricted then, he would never know the band was doing its work. You need to make the band work for you and they best way is to learn your limitations. I have problems with some meats, all bread, and eggs. I now don't crave some of my favorite foods. My doc is also a little more laid back than some of the ones I have read about on here. He believes in taking it slow. -
I own two shoe stores. Either of these shoes are good. MBT has been making these shoes for a long time. Skechers knocked off MBT. With that being said the skechers, has been selling better because of the price. You should be able to find the shape ups for under $100 now where you will be paying $200 - $300 for the MBTs. Neither one of them is going to help with the weight loss. They are both great for Knee or back pain. Since they do have the rocker bottom, it makes you stand up straight and balance yourself. Both a really good. Yes and people with balance problems shouldn't wear a shoe that's main purpose is to keep you off balance.

Experience with Port Flip?
YouGotBiggie replied to Adelaide'sMummy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I just had my port repositioned on Monday because it was Flipped. Mine was done just like the original surgery. I am still sore and will probably take it easy for the next few days. Piperboo how are you feeling the day after your surgery? -
Well I got a phone call today from my Doc's office and it looks like everything is a go for Monday. On December 28th I went to have my 3rd Fill and the Doc was unable to get the Needle into the Port. After 2 hours in the radiology department at the hospital that afternoon and 9 needle pricks later, he decided that he needed to go in a see what was going on. He said it didn't appear to be flipped but that it was moving around a lot more than it should be. I am More nervous about this surgery than I was the first. I have not have any problems with me port site but I see where most people do if the doc has had to go in and fix the port. I will let everyone know how it goes.
-
Went into the dr today for a fill. He was unable to get the needle in the port. Went to the hospital and couldn't get it in under xray or floro. Said the port was moving and wants to do another surgery to see what is going on. I am really bummed and am ready to give up. How hard is it to go see another dr? I want a second opinion before dishing out the money for a surgery.

I am going in for my first Fill today and am interested on how it is going to affect my Beer Drinking. I don't do it much but I remember Trying to drink one 3 weeks ago and my stomach was still a little swollen from the surgery and it didn't go down well. The Bubble I got in my chest felt like it was going to kill me. It will be interesting to see if I can still drink a beer everyone once and awhile.

Is your port noticeable when you reach goal weight?
YouGotBiggie replied to RoxyChick's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If the only thing I have to worry about is my Port showing then I think I am doing something right! -
Anyone Else Had This Problem
YouGotBiggie replied to hocuspocus's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is Weird I was told the Opposite, I was told that my port incision was just a shallow cut. I am almost 4 weeks post op and have been playing Golf, Walking and Lifting weights. I have some discomfort around my port everyone once and awhile but I have been doing this since 2 weeks post op. -
No restriction. Whatsoever.
YouGotBiggie replied to ocbutterfly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah I am 3 weeks post op today. Like My Doc told me, The band right now is just in place. I have a little restriction but not much. It doesn't take long for me to get unfull. As long as I eat slow I can eat pretty much anything I want. Slider foods I could grub down on. I don't and eat the correct amount but I could. -
Hate to exercise...
YouGotBiggie replied to zeniada's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was just recently banded, (9/20) and I started last week at the gym walking on treadmill. I am going 5-6 times a week and am walking for 30min right now. I get really bored even thought I listen to music the whole time. I don't walk fast just about 3mph, so I usually walk 1.5 miles. I have started adding inclines and walked my whole 30 min yesterday at a 1% incline. After just 2 weeks of this I was at a JV Football game last night talking to some friends that hadn't seen me since my surgery and they commented about all the energy I seemed to have. I was basically just bouncing back and forth standing there. I Hadnt really noticed but I do seem to have tons more energy. I went to load my dish washer the other day and decided to just wash the dishes by hand cause I didn't want to go sit down. Someone told me once that if you ever get into a routine of going to the gym and start exercising then you find that you become addicted to it. I know that I don't have fun doing it but I do like the way a feel after wards. -
ok i really feel stupid but can u help me
YouGotBiggie replied to lovemysgt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The port incision is normally bigger than the other incisions. most of my incisions are a half inch at most and my port incision is 2 inches. -
Guy Here. I was banded on 9/20. I was a self pay and it was about $10k cheaper for me to have the surgery in an out patient facility than in the Hospital. Due to my Size at the time of my first Doc Appointment He wanted me do go on an all Protein diet. I started it on 6/27 and on 7/24 I was down from 440 to 410. He then scheduled my surgery on 9/20 and I weighted in a 402. It has been two weeks and I have lost around 15-20lbs since being banded. I am now where I am adding back solid foods. I have found out like most everyone that has told me that Bread is not my friend. I will probably be able to eat it in a few more weeks but now it doesn't help. I have had a few things get where they fill Stuck but I find that it is my old eating habits that are to blame. I will sit in front of a meal and start shoveling it in. I know I should eat slow and take smaller bites but I tend not to do that. I would recommend if you are a few weeks out from surgery to go ahead and try to make this change. I started at the gym last week and am trying to make it a routine to Walk 4-5 days a week and when I lose a little more weight I am going to start lifting weights too.

Your bitching and moaning is not only hurting you, you're hurting others
YouGotBiggie replied to btrieger's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This is a great post. I was talking with a friend last night and was telling him about how much less I was eating now. I told him that I thought about eating all the time but most of it was in my head. I thought I was hungry but now I know that I really am not hungry. The change that I have made in my life is not letting myself be ruled by food but to let myself eat to survive instead of survive to eat. -
What has being fat kept you from doing?

Weight Gain Question
YouGotBiggie replied to Alycopp's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I dropped 20lbs the First week after Surgery. Then I started adding things back to my Diet and gained 10lbs Back. Most of this was Water weight because I couldn't get anything down for the first 3 days I was home. I dropped 15lbs these days. I guess What I am saying is that yes adding food back will make you gain some weight back. Also I found that adding Carbs back seemed to make me gain weight faster. -
I was Banded 2 weeks ago today. I played 9 holes yesterday afternoon with no problem. I plan on playing a few more today. The Doc Cleared me Thursday for any activity that I felt like doing. The Doc Told me that the band would not hinder me in any activity that I wanted to do.

First fill shock!
YouGotBiggie replied to sparky1582's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Doc Told me about other Docs doing it like this. They think it gets a patient closer to a perfect restriction sooner. He Also said that he doesn't do it that way because of the stress it puts on the patient and the band. He also said that what he thinks is a good restriction doing it that way the patient might not. He would rather we both agree. -
My super exciting pre op diet
YouGotBiggie replied to emeraldinthesky's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Doc told me that it really depends on the patient and where they carry their Fat. He also said that African American Women were the easiest to band. Your Liver will start to shrink when you stop eating Carbs and sugars. I was on a no Carb or Sugar diet for 2 months before my surgery. Being White Male I am one of the hardest to band. I also Started at 440lbs and the doc wanted me to lose some weight before hand. I never had to do an all liquid diet before hand. I did one the week after surgery. -
Had my Surgery one week ago today. I am back a work and am really tired. I am ready for some real food. I am a little lite headed sitting at my desk today and think it might be the lack of food for a week. I am thinking about trying some mushies for lunch. When Did everyone else start Mushies? I have heard 1 week to 3 weeks. Everything else is going good and I have lost 19lbs Since my Surgery.

First Fill--how soon after surgery?
YouGotBiggie replied to kittykat56's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am suppose to make my appointment for my first fill this coming Thursday. It will probably be for in 4 weeks which will make it 5 1/2 - 6 weeks post op.
