It's so good to hear from you I was getting a little worried. Glad to hear everything went well for you. how are you feeling today? I know what you mean about the backside I am so done with the pain and feeling down. I feel bad posting anything but good news but maybe there are others out there that aren't finding this as easy as others. Did you have a hernia repair done with your banding? I did and I'm wondering if that's why this is harder than I expected. My discomfort is getting manageable (day 10) and yesterday I went without Tylenol all day so that's an improvement. Some nights I sleep ok others not so much, I should have bought a recliner. My nutritionist gave me a day by day food plan which is helpful and seems to be dead-on. Do you have a fax # I could send you a copy of what I have. In Phase1 which she says is typically 1 day to 2 weeks after surgery she recommends: high protein liquid supplements such as Ensure, Boost, or Carnation Breakfast anytime, clear or cream soups with no noodles or chunks (strain or blend), yogurt, pudding made with skim milk, 1% or skim milk, jello, fruit juice or pureed soft fruit like applesauce. Next post I'll give you Phase 2. I'm so glad I found your post today I was feeling really down and just connecting helps. I hope I haven't scared anyone and I truly look forward to posting good news again, soon I hope. Take care my friend we will get through this. Lynne:unsure: -
Hey Pat today's your big day, my prayers and best wishes for a speedy recovery and a successful journey are on their way. Let me know how you're doing. Hugs Lynne:thumbup:

October 2010 (Bootiful Bandsters) Thread

Banded on the 12th so 6 days out. Less pain but still have discomfort. Not weighing until i week post-op to give water a chance to go down. I'm feeling a little bit of the "what have i done?" feeling myself but I'm sure once I can start seeing some progress I'll be celebrating along with everyone else. I've spent $16,800 so I'd better. glad to hear so many of you are doing so well and look forward to posting cheerier notes. -

3 Cheers for us is right! I'm day 5 and feeling much better although not yet ready to start cleaning closets (in fairness I didn't like doing that before the surgery either). I'm a stomach sleeper too but that's out of the question right now. They repaired a hernia while they were in there and so it wasn't quite as easy as I hoped but on the plus side they killed 2 birds with 1 stone. It has been interesting hearing about the differences in the diets pre and post. I am not having any problems with the yogurt, pudding, soup phase so today I think I'll try an egg or something. I still think about food, not as much, but the thought passes before I get off my butt to get anything. It feels like it would be too much effort to eat. I hope I lose a few more pounds before my appetite comes back. I'm not weighing myself until 1 week post op (Tues.) to give the surgery bloat time to pass. I know it's better to lose slowly but I want a big drop for the effort. How do we get to the post op thread? I was there once but forget how I got there. I'm sure your incision is fine but don't wait too long to call if it doesn't get better. You might just need an antibiotic. Take care and stay in touch. I love having someone to talk to who is going thru it too and knows what I'm talking about. -
Good Morning Pat, I'm happy to report that I'm MUCH better today! I knew I was feeling better when I wanted breakfast. It's the first time I've wanted food since the surgery. Having said that I've been up for an hour and all I've had is a few sips of coffee. I don't have restriction yet but I sure don't have an appetite either yay! I had one son and a daughter-in-law that were worried about the idea of surgery too but I just reminded them of all the weight related surgery my sister had before she passed away at age 57 and they cautiously supported me. We have to keep in mind that we're doing this for our health too although it's more fun to talk about the new look. Your great grandson sounds yummy you are very lucky and think how much better you'll be able to keep up with him when he starts running around. Wish your husband a belated Happy Birthday for us. I told mine I want to go dancing for my birthday next year!!! Stay positive it's positively worth it.:wink2:

Hi Pat, Well I'm day 3 on the recovery"band" wagon and it's getting better. they repaired a hernia while they were in there so getting up and down has been hard but I'm keeping my eye on the prize. sending my prayers and best wishes your way. Let me know how you're doing:smile2:. -
Today is my 3rd day on the recovery "band" wagon. They found and repaired a hernia when they went in as well as placing the band. I'd love to say this is a piece of cake (especially since today is my birthday) but it really isn't. Each day is getting better though and I can't wait to start seeing the results. I'm not weighing myself this week as I'm very bloated from the surgery, but next Wed. will be 4 weeks and I plan to start the day with a weigh-in and a protein shake!!! Thinking of you all that are on this path with me. Roll on November so we can start reporting in big or at least steady losses. Safe journey.

I had 3 weeks pre-op that consisted of 2 Protein Shakes and 1 Protein Bar and 2 cups of vegetables per day and other than Water coffee tea and diet drinks that was it! I cheated a couple of times late at night but all in all did pretty well losing 15.6 lbs by surgery day. I didn't get headaches at all which is unusual for me on a diet. Walking is really helping and take pain meds I'm on Tylenol 3's and they help too. I'll be sending you my prayers, you'll be just fine and we'll be dropping those pounds before you know it.:w00t: -

Day 2 post-op.......ouch! Had applesauce and yogurt today no problem. Getting up and down is another story! I'm focusing on the new wardrobe I'm going to buy at the end of this journey:rolleyes2:. -
Sharing a post from another thread FYI. nowhere close to childbirth... they gave me a painkiller in my iv post op then Ty3 at home, I can tell when they are wearing off, left shoulder pain from gas used to place port but manageable, coughing hurts but not horrible, have 5 small incisions, they repaired a hernia while they were in, can't feel the band at all, but can the port it's sore, had no nausea, and I was able to drink right away, was hungry last night so I had a protein shake again no problem. I hope they didn't forget to put the band in:scared2:. Not to worry you'll do fine, keep me posted and good luck. I hope they don't run out of bikinis next summer:thumbup:

Thanks Big Gerr, did you get your fill yesterday? I don't feel any restriction, can drink normal and had a protein shake last night. Have a great day!

Is anybody out there interested in getting this site going again? I will be banded at Maples on Oct. 12 and would love to hear from fellow Manitobans on how you're doing either pre or post op.
