  1. Personally, I have a friend that is 10 years post op bypass who really struggles with getting in nutrients. She has to have an IV done weekly and she has problems with her teeth form lack of calcium. The sleeve has really worked so well for me. Good luck with your decision! I wish you the best.
  2. I can eat soup pretty easily too at a year out.
  3. I am glad you are feeling better. I could never really tolerate protein shakes either, so know how hard it can be to get in the protein. I hope things continue to get better! :rose:
  4. Your body is adjusting to all of the changes and recovering from surgery. Just be patient and you will see the loss. Most of us have hit a stall here or there. The weight will come off again! Start walking if you haven't already. That really helps.
  5. First of all, YAY that you are so close to getting sleeved!!! I know how hard the preop diet is. I was an emotional mess when I was on it. I recommend keeping lots of the foods you are allowed for snacks to help when you are hungry. I visited this forum lots and watched Youtube videos to help. YOU CAN DO THIS!!! It is a huge challenge, but it is SO WORTH IT! The sleeve WILL change your life.

    Soda

What I've realized about soda, is that it can be a trigger for some people. I drink one Diet Dr. Pepper a day at lunch with no issues at all. I still drink all of my water each day though. For some people, drinking soda causes them to want more of it or it makes them crave sweets. Sodas don't cause me any issues with head hunger. On the other hand, I personally have issues with peanut butter. One bite of it causes major head hunger and makes me want a Reese's really bad, so I avoid it. I am sure many people can eat peanut butter with no issues. We are all different. You can try it and see what happens. It may be a trigger for you or it may not.

I'm too much of a popcorn addict to buy that! LOL Looks yummy. : )
  8. Why are Lap-Band advertisements showing up on the Sleeve Forum? LOL

  9. The second I forgot to take my vitamins, I get anemic. You need to take your calcium because it can cause issues down the road with your bones and teeth.
  10. I self paid for my band and so I was devastated when it slipped and broke apart. I had a revision and I am so glad I did. I understand your concerns about money. I felt guilty spending all this money on surgeries that could have gone to other things (like a bigger house that we really need). I decided that my health was important. We spend money on cars, vacations, and all sorts of other things. Don't feel guilty. You are worth it! HUGS.
  11. You might try upping your calories. 800 seems kind of low. It's worth a try. Good luck and keep us posted!
  12. How great is that!!! Yay! I am so happy for you.
  13. When I felt light headed, I was anemic. Take iron and try to get in as much protein as possible. Hope you feel better soon!

    Catheter?

I had one and it really wasn't a big deal. The drain is what drove me crazy!
  15. Yay! You are making a SUPER decision. One that is going to change your life in AMAZING ways!!!
  16. I had a revision from the band to the sleeve. The only complication I had was that one of my incisions came open. The cause of this was going back to work after two weeks and a pair of pants I wore kept rubbing against the incision. I just had to be careful and keep it covered. It healed fine. Other than that, the rest was just discomfort from having surgery that was mostly cured with pain meds. I do remember having some "head" hunger issues from not eating, but I physically was not hungry. There were days when I felt weak, but I got some Five Hour Energy and it really helped. I recall feeling better each day and when I could eat real food again, I started to feel like myself. The weight loss really keeps you motivated. I agree that any pain is worth it!!!
  17. I know I have heard many other sleevers share that they have had my issue of always being cold. Please tell me any ideas you have tried to help you stay warm. I am thinking of buying an electric blanket with a gift card I got for Christmas. Anyone else try this? It seems lately that I am super cold and it is driving my hubby crazy since he hates being hot. LOL
  18. I'm so in! I have been eating way more calories due to the holidays. I want to get to goal this year. I need to get back to making exercise a priority and I must start tracking every bite that goes into my mouth. WE can do this! : )

    Head Hunger

The head hunger gets better once you can eat real food again. There are days when I still have the head hunger at a year out. Usually I just will eat a bite of what I am wanting and then I am through. My sleeve always wins!
  20. So sorry you are going through this. I think the best thing to do is to move forward and see if you can find a way to revise to the sleeve. I was self pay for my band in Mexico (and I had a good experience there), but my band just didn't work for me. I revised to the sleeve and have been so successful. There is still hope for you. Many of us have had revisions to the sleeve after paying $8,000-10,000 for our bands. It is so hard to lose that kind of money, but it is just a chance you take to be healthy. Start researching revisions so you can make your dreams come true! The sleeve works, so don't give up!
  21. I am sure it is water gain. Don't stress too much! Your body is adjusting to all the changes.
