    Sleever's Rendezvous...?

I would love to meet everyone! I am from Texas. Maybe we can find a central location.

First new skirt in many years...

    Beautiful!!!

    My life changing year

You look beautiful! The sleeve is a wonderful thing!!!
  4. I am right there with you. I can drink, but my problem is not having a desire for much. Most things make sick just thinking about it (broth, jello, etc). I did drink some sugar free hot chocolate very thin and that helped. I drink a lot of decaffinated hot tea. The warm drinks are easy for me to get down. There is no way I can get the protein in right now. I almost gagged when I tried to drink a protein shake today. I am getting my fluids in and that is my focus for the first week. We can do it!
  5. I feel like my band failed me more than I failed the band. I did work out and eat "the band way" the first year and my band still broke. It had a leak, fell apart, starting pulling on my esophogus, and I could go on and on. I never felt like I got what I was told I was getting with the band. I never really had restriction and I was always hungry. I decided to revise when my band stared causing me extreme physical pain. I know I have what it takes to lose the weight, I just need the help keeping it off. With the help of my doctor, the wonderful friends on this forum, and research, I felt that the sleeve was the best choice for me. I am just starting my sleeve journey, but I really am so happy and feel I made the right decision.
  6. Just know I am thinking about you and hope you feel better soon.

Getting Lap Band out for sleeve

I totally understand! I had MANY problems with my band. I just had my revision Monday and honestly I am feeling quite well. I am still sore, but the pain meds take care of that. I went to Walmart today and walked around with my family with little pain. I even have extra incisions because the doctor had to go in and search for all of the broken parts of my band. I also developed esphogus problems. It was hurting to swallow and now I have no problems at all. Please make sure you have an experienced revision doctor. You would have to discuss your risks with the doctor as far as the healing after surgery. I wish you the best. Message me anytime if you have questions.
  8. We are all here for you! We have all been in the that bad, bad place that lead us to weight loss surgery. Hang in there, research your surgeon, and then make the best choice for yourself. You won't regret the sleeve! Hugs!

So glad I had the sleeve!!

That is great! I am sooo happy to have the band out and now have my wonderful sleeve!!! : )
  10. I live nearby in Houston! I have spent 3 and a half years dealing with my horrible lapband. I finally had my revision to VSG on Monday. I couldn't be happier! I can't wait for you to have your sleeve, too. : )

    One week Post op

I just posted something similair! I don't think I will ever eat Jello again in my life! I am just trying hard to get the fluids in right now. At least this is only a short part of the process!
  13. I was a Dr Pepper addict! I quit for awhile for my lapband surgery and then gradually started drinking it again. I will say that now with the sleeve everything is way too sweet. I really can't even imagine drinking Dr. Pepper. Maybe you can gradually go down on the amount unitl surgery. The sleeve will take care of the the rest! Good luck!
  14. So it finally happened! The surgery wasn't quite as bad as I expected. I actually feel pretty good because my broken lap band is finally gone! I will say that I was in MAJOR pain right after surgery. I didn't get a morhpine pump, they put it through my IV. I was in so much pain when I woke up in recovery, so they gave me something that made me sleep. Then when they moved me to my room, I guess the pain meds wore off because I as crying and screaming. After that, my pain meds have been going strong, so I am happy. I have been up walking. The drain hasn't been too bad. I have been fearing the drain! I had my leak test earlier and that was pretty gross. I am waiting for the doctor now to let me know how the test went so I can have something to drink. I have been allowed ice chips, but nothing else. I may get to go home tonight if all goes well. Thanks for all of the support I received here. It was nice to know exactly what to expect at the hospital from reading other's stories. I am so happy to finally be a sleeve sister!!!
  15. Hi there! I had lots of problems with my band, too. I just had my revision on Monday and I am so thankful to have that thing out! I was having trouble swallowing recently and amazingly after surgery that issue was gone (along with many others). I have just begun the weight loss journey with the sleeve, but I will say I feel so much better already. Feel free to ask any questions!

  16. I think researching is a great idea! You can follow the stories here or on YouTube as well. I started as a lapband and just had my revision. Be thankful you are starting with the VSG! Good luck. I am so thankful to have found this site!

    I'm Sleeved!

Thanks everyone for the nice and supportive comments! Just a note on the pain, I was a revision and the doctor did say that causes more pain that a straight VSG. If you think about it, they did have to cut a plastic device off of my stomach, plus fix a hernia. Anyway, once you get the medicine, you will be fine. I hope I didn't scare anyone. When I said I was screaming, I should have said I was screaming "Give me medicine! I can't take it!" LOL Well, I am home now and doing great. I am so happy to have the surgery behind me so that I can work on the next part- losing weight!

    finally home from being Sleeved

I was sleeved Monday too and I got home a few hours ago. Glad you are feeling better. I bet the weight will be off really soon! Somehow, I am down one pound. That could be because I didn't have to do a pre-op because I was a revision. I think my body just didn't know what to do with a sudden drop in food. I am so excited to start this journey! Yay for us!!!

    Why am I so thirsty?

Hope you figure it all out and feel better soon! I haven't had trouble with drinking yet. I do find that I can drink hot tea the easiest, so maybe you could try and see if it helps. Hugs!!!
  20. I had my lapband removed, hernia repaired, and the sleeve done all at once. I think what you need to do is really question your doctor. An experienced revision specialist should be able to do it all at once. I had a pretty bad lapband with every complication there could be and they still were able to do it at one time. Good luck! I wish the best for you. I feel 100% better after getting my band out!
  21. It looks like we were sleeved on the same day! I am sitting at the hospital right now waiting for my doctor to get out of another surgery so he can sign the release papers. I have had some pain (mainly right after surgery). The main issue I am having today is that the drain is hurting like HELL! I haven't had gas pains because I have been walking a lot. Plus they have this little machine they make me breathe into that is suppossed to get rid of the gas. I am so restless!!! Probably because I am stuck in the hospital. I can't wait to go home! We will have to keep in touch! Great job on your weight loss so far- : )
  22. I am thinking about you today! Hope all went well! : )

  23. You will do great! I will be thinking of you. I am sitting at the hospital now and I couldn't be happier with my decision. Hugs!

    I'm Sleeved!

Just to update, the leak test went great and everything is looking good. I am staying in the hospital until tomorrow morning. I haven't really been in much pain today. Even the pain right after surgery was 100% worth it! It only lasts a little while. I really feel quite well, but I do miss home. You don't get much sleep at the hospital!!!
  25. I just had my surgery yesterday. I won't lie, I was in pain the first few hours. They give you pain meds, so it's not like you are in constant pain. Just when the pain meds wear off, you really feel like someone kicked you a hundred times in the stomach. I have found that the more I walk, the better I feel. I feel really good right now and I had a revision from the lapband to the sleeve. Don't worry! You will do great. It really is just those first few hours out of surgery and then once the meds are going strong, you will be fine! MAKE yourself walk no matter how much it hurts to get out of the bed. That is the best healer of all in my opinion!
