    REGRET

I am very early out, but I can say that there is already a huge difference in how I feel. I don't feel controlled by food anymore. I always felt sluggish and lazy before and now I have engery. Of course, right after surgery there is pain and you get sick of the liquid only diet, but that is temporary. I will say that I am 100% happy I did it. I weighed 244 at my pre-op appointment ( before I started the liquid diet) on December 23 and I am already down 10 pounds. I love my sleeve!

    Dr. Vuong in Houston

Can anyone from Houston go to the support group or do they have to be one of your patients?
  3. You will do great! I will be thinking of you. Hot tea made me feel so much better last week, so ask if they will give you some and bring chapstick. I am so happy for you.
  4. Keep calling them! I had an insurance mix up that delayed my surgery. My insurance denied at the last minute (come to find out it was because the wrong hospital was submitted which was out of my network). I called everyday, sometimes twice a day. We finally figured it out and all was good. I hate that you are having to go through all of that, but the sleeve is soooo worth it!
  5. Lucky!!!! and congrats! : )
  6. I am so sorry! You do need to get to your doctor. Just know that if it is a big slip, they will have operate pretty quickly to take out the band. My slip was small and so I was able to wait until my revision. Let us know what happens and you can contact me anytime if you need anything.
  7. I really don't like protein shakes! Why do they all have that funny taste?

  8. Good luck! You are making such a great decision. I wish you the best on your big day. I will be thinking of you!!!
  9. Just go day by day. Go on the forum for support or take a walk when things get tough. It is 110 % worth it to get your sleeve. I can't beleive the difference my sleeve has made in my life already. I finally feel like I am control of food. Food does not have power over me anymore. You can do it!!!

    Back to Work....

Let me know how it goes! I will be watching for suggestions too! I go back on Jan. 10th.
  11. You will do great! I just had my revison (band to sleeve) and I couldn't be happier! The pain meds they give you take care of most of the pain, so don't worry about that. I must say, so far the sleeve is far better than the band. My drive to eat just isn't there. I went to a family New Years event and my liquids were just fine. It didn't even bother me that other people were stuffing their faces because I feel so great. I will be thinking of you!!!!
  12. I am on the liquid only diet until Monday and the thought of jello and broth are making me want to gag! I have no problems drinking liquids, so that has been a good thing. Is this normal? I guess I wanted to lose my appetite, but this is rather drastic. I don't really want anything. Anyone have advice on what you did to get through this stage?
  13. Please make sure you ask your doctor lots of questions. The revision from the lapband to the sleeve is one of the most risky for leaks. In my research, unexperienced doctors sometimes would take the band out and then have the patient have a second surgery for the sleeve. I just want the best for you. I was so thankful to have my revision done at once. One recovery is way better than two. Good luck and let me know if I can help you in any way!
  14. Hi Texas friend! I saw you post and you will feel better soon! I was sleeved on Dec. 27th. Hang in there and let me know if you need someone to talk to. We can get through this together! We have no other choice at this point. LOL

  15. That's great and yum...love Cracker Barrel!

    OMG!! I hate some people!!!

Your hubby is a great guy! My husband has always been so supportive too. I don't know if I would be doing so well after surgery if it weren't for him getting everything I needed and helping me so much. The way I see it, that lady who made the comment about you will be eating her words soon! I have had so many rude comments made to me that I have lost track. One time, I was shopping for my niece in the juniors section and the sales lady said, "Honey, the plus sizes aren't over here." I was so mad but what can you do? I would focus on YOU! Forget about all those who say things like that! I am so glad you have such a wonderful man in your life and that we have each other to get through this
  17. I hope you are recovering well from surgery. I was just sleeved on 12/27. I am a Texas friend!

  18. I bought mine at Walmart. Love it! I really can't stand the taste of protein shakes, so I have been drinking this lately and also adding the powdered milk to up the protein. Just make sure to get the sugar free. Hope you can find it!
  19. I am so sorry about your bad experience. Try drinking warm drinks like hot tea. I know that made it so much easier for me to drink my fluids, especially the first few days. Get well soon. Hugs.

    Sleever's Rendezvous...?

I vote for summer. Lots of us have kids and it is just easier to find someone to watch them then. San Antonio does have lots of fun stuff to do and is pretty central or New Orleans would be fun, too!

    pain in left shoulder

I am five days out too. I believe the pain can be from gas or it can be the way you were laying on the operating table. I was told to walk and it will go away. Glad you are doing well!
  22. Good luck with your surgery! So glad you got to have it and start the New Year off right!

    I don't feel that different...

I feel very much the same, except I did wake up with some reflux this morning. I have been very tired, though. I doze off all the time!
  25. Happy New Year! I know it will be a great 2011 for us all!
