Thank you for sharing your story and being an inspiration to us all. I am just a month out and it is so nice to know that I will get there eventually! I am so happy for all of your success.

Wow, I never noticed that either. It is probably how they get the 30 grams of protein for only 5 carbs.
-
I do eat some carbs (around 50 grams a day). I find that if I go below 30 grams a day, I feel so tired. I stick with the good carbs though, mainly a few bites of vegetables or fruit. I log my calories daily on My Fitness Pal. I had bought some pre-made chicken salad for my lunch and I when I logged it, I realized it had 10 grams of carbs for a little can! They had added sugar to it and I guess I just didn't read the label at the store close enough. Those carbs can sneak in there if you don't track your food. I am losing steadily eating around 50 g of carbs a day. If I hit a big stall, I will cut back. I can't even imagine how many carbs I used to eat!

These pics are so amazing. Your son is adorable and you look beautiful!

I am so sorry. You don't deserve that. Maybe you could try upping your calories and see how your body responds. Many lose weight on 1200 calories and maybe your body needs that much. We are all different and your doctor should be supportive, not critical. I have to take in more than 30 carbs a day or I can't function at work. I am sure I could lose faster on lower carbs, but I just don't feel well. I would try some different things and see if your body will start losing again. Good luck and we are here for you anytime.

Who Was Your Gastric Sleeve Surgeon
Becca replied to boredswfl's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I did research and knew about this, but if you read the article, it says that the patient would not go in for aftercare. He called her several times and she would not go in. He has never had a leak and has done many revisions. He also takes on patients (like me) that no one else will. For that I am very thankful. I had ten doctor offices basically hang up on me when I told them of my lapband complications. I had a very difficult revision and Dr. Now did an excellent job. -
That is just plain rude! Some people!

Head Hunger / Food Addiction (very long story)
Becca replied to srwright66's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks for sharing. I am sorry about your difficult journey, but I am so happy that you will start a new chapter soon. I thought I would never get control of my food issues, but the sleeve has allowed me to. I love my sleeve! Congrats on you upcoming surgery! -
I got approved today from Cigna :-)
Becca replied to mrspetendanbury's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congrats! I had Cigna too but it was a little harder for me to get approved since I had a revision. You will love the sleeve! I am so happy for you! -
I love my sleeve! I went to a restaurant and could only eat a few bites. The waitress kept asking if everything was alright. LOL

What to say to the negative friends?
Becca replied to fern's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Life has many risks, no matter what. If you have a good surgeon, you will do just fine. The sleeve has a very low rate of complications. I had someone close to me try to tell me all that garbage about WLS and it was so annoying, so I know how you feel. In the end, YOUR HAPPINESS and HEALTH are what matters. The sleeve will give you control over food. That is something I have never had before and I love it. My pants are starting to get lose and that feels better than overeating ever did. I know it will be hard having a close friend who doesn't support you NOW, but she may change her mind later when she sees your success! Good luck. You are making a great decision! -
My friend just had a party and I bought one! The great thing about it is that it won't scratch your pans/pots. : )

What to say to people who ask if I've had 'surgery'
Becca replied to slowkat's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I've pretty much told all the major family members, most of my good friends, and my co-workers all know (because you know how you tell one person and suddenly everyone knows). I have found for people who have asked about my surgery to just say I have a smaller stomach. Once I go into the sleeve, they think it is some kinds of device on my stomach and it takes forever to explain. I just say yes, my stomach is smaller and I can much less than I used to. It's been working well for me, especially at work since it is obvious I can't eat like I used to. I really feel like people will know something is up once you start losing lots of weight anyway, so why hide it? If I can help someone, I don't mind talking to them about it. -
Hit my half way mark this morning!

Sleeved and feeling great!
Becca replied to Txchickadee's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congrats!!! The first day was not fun for me either, but I felt pretty good by day two. My doctor said I can do arm/leg workouts with weights at four weeks, just no abs until 8 weeks. I am hoping to go back to the gym next week. Awesome job on your weight loss! -
Love it!!! You look hot!!!

I have a hard time with the taste of protein shakes, but I do really like the Premiere brand. They sell it at Costco and Sams. I love the already made ones. They taste just like chocolate milk and only have 5 carbs/ 30 grams of protein. You can buy a tub of powder, too.

HAS ANYONE HAD ANY LEAKAGE WITH THE SLEEVE
Becca replied to kisses1000us's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor said leaks can develop anytime the first 8 weeks. You have a healing staple line and you must be careful. My doctor is very experienced and he was the ONLY doctor who would even operate on me for a revision with all my complications. The first step is asking your doctor for his/her stats. How many leaks, etc? After you find a good surgeon, then you must do your part to eat correctly so your stomach can heal. I know that all of our doctors seem to say different things about healing time, but how could your stomach really be healed after one or two weeks? My incisions on my stomach aren't even all the way healed at three weeks. (Just a thought). Good luck with your surgery. -
Am i the first to fail the sleeve surgery??
Becca replied to vicki s's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am so, so sorry. Don't give up hope. Your body may just need more time to adjust. I know some people have lost by increasing their calories. I track every single calorie and carb on My Fitness Pal. Maybe that will help. My doctor always says to increase protein if you stall. Hugs and we are here for you always. -
18 year old sleeve surgery
Becca replied to Pinkbabe2011's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
After years of over eating and being obese, I don't really miss food that much. The weight loss on the scale is so worth it! That is so awesome you are getting your sleeve now. You will love it!
