I feel like something is wrong
Becca replied to Fleur de lis's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have learned not to compare myself with others. I may be losing slower that others, but I am losing and I celebrate every pound. Your loss is a HUGE success. Please give yourself credit!!! -

I am so, so sorry. Hugs and prayers.

I just tried some Diet DrPepper with no problems. I was hanging out with some friends and I wanted something more than just Water. I poured it over ice and let the ice melt so it was watered down.

Hugs and praying it will all work out. It isn't your fault the weight is back. The band failed you like it did me and so many others. I really do pray you are able to get your sleeve.

I can so relate! There is nothing more fun than rock hard beds and pee jars! NOT. Glad you are doing well and feeling so great. It will keep getting better. -

YAY!!!! You are doing so great! I am soooo happy for you!

CONGRATS!!!! You really will love the sleeve. It is so wonderful to not have the horrible lapband in my body anymore. The pain was about the same for the lapband and the revision surgeries. I would recommend shopping for your protein (I like the Premier ready made shakes from Costco) and other items you will need postop. Good luck with your revision and keep us posted!

My body is out of whack too. I got my period right after surgery and then again two other times in two months! I hope it works itself out soon. My head hunger goes crazy from the hormones.

Another disappointed bandster

Funny- I did post what happened to me and then it was mysteriously deleted....hmmm. I think I should submit the copies of my CT scan with all the broken parts of the lapband in my body and see what they say! LOL About the hunger, I do get a little bit of hunger when it is time to eat. The thing is, I get full very fast on very little. Then I don't want to eat again until the next meal, if that. I really hope you are able to get the sleeve. It really is a great, life changing thing. With the ghrelin gone, I don't think about food in an obsessive way anymore. I just eat to live. Best wishes! -

Unsupportive Sister and Mother
Becca replied to kpbrighton's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had some major opposition from some family and friends, mainly because they thought something really bad was going to happen. That was before the surgery. Once the surgery was done, that all changed. Now everyone is supportive. I haven't received any negative comments, instead everyone is supportive or complimentary. It may seem difficult now to not have their support, but that will change when they see what a great thing the sleeve is. It gives you your life back. I feel so great and I am so happy. Do what is best for YOU! You are worth it! -
Yay for you!!!!

I struggled with the lapband for three and a half years. I did lose 70 pounds, but I gained half of that back when I developed a leak, slip, and then later the band broke apart in my body. It was so painful my husband took me to the ER in the middle of the night. I thought I had appendicitis, but it was just my crummy band! My insurance did cover my revision. I would talk with your new doctor and have him check that you don't have problems with your band that might allow it to be covered by insurance. I think you should be able to have a revision at any age, you just need to find the right doctor. I am not sure about the cost of self pay in the US. I wish you the best. Feel free to ask if you have any questions. Good luck! We are very supportive here. It is like a different world compared to LBT! -
I finally started swallowing my pills at two months out. I would really check with your doctor with the ibuprofen. I was reading on another forum about someone who really messed up their stomach taking it. I can't remember what the rules are for pain killers. Any one else know? I need to go back and read my info. Fortunately, I still have a big bottle of the liquid stuff left from surgery if I need it.

100 Pounds Down in less than 6 months -- It's a Beautiful Day!
Becca replied to juliarh's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Wow Julie! I am sooo happy for you! Your vlogs helped me through my horrible, painful wait for my revision. You are such an inspiration!!! What a great early birthday gift! YAY- -
I had been having issues with being very tired for the past few weeks. Come to find out, I was low on iron-(anemic). This was due to me taking children's chewable vitamins that didn't have the correct amount of iron (actaully the one I grabbed at the store had none ). I had bought a bottle because I couldn't swallow those big vitamins post- op. I didn't even check the label for the ingredients since I knew I would only take them temporarily. (Plus I was at the store three days post-op and I was a little out of it). Now, that I am on a multi-vitamin with iron, I feel great! I have energy to work out. I just thought I would share, especially for newbies. This is usually just a problem the first couple of months after surgery since you can't eat very much. I am just so glad to have the issue resolved and I hope I can prevent anyone else from going through this!
