Congrats Sleeve Sister! I wish you a speedy recovery!

I do have flabby skin at 35 after a 108 pound loss. My stomach is the worst (but I also did have three kids). My thighs are pretty bad too. I read someone on the forum refer to their thighs as elephant skin and I will say that is a pretty good comparison. You can't really tell with my clothes on, so that's a plus. I have started reformer pilates and that is supposed to help. I am still extremely happy and I would have the surgery again in a heartbeat. Shopping is fun now and it is amazing to be able to go into a store and have such a huge selection to choose from. Weights have really helped my arms. I look forward to hearing about your journey!!!

I do eat fruits and vegetables. The only time I have done extreme low carbing is when I was stalled at 200 pounds and I wanted to get to One-derland. I have lost pretty consistently. I am at a standstill now though and I am considering doing low carb for awhile. I am pretty sure the stall is from vacation. I ate what I wanted (in small amounts), but now I am always craving carbs. I forgot how controlling bread can be!!!

Another LBT Member Considering Revision
Becca replied to HeatherA's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I had my band in 2007 and it was a huge, painful mess. I have been feeling wonderful since my revision to the sleeve six months ago. The sleeve works and I am such a happier and healthier person now. I feel so great to not have that band in my body anymore. -
Patient died in Mexico, who was the doctor????
Becca replied to christina420's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Deaths can happen with any surgery. Being obese causes the risks to go up. In general though, the death rate with the sleeve is very low. Don't let fear stop your dreams. The sleeve has been the best gift I could have ever given myself. -
Lots of hugs and love being sent your way.

Labor Day - WHAT WILL YOU WEIGH???
Becca replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I did not meet my July 4th goal. I missed it by three pounds. We went on vacation and I had fun. I didn't gain, but I didn't lose either. I stayed at 178 the entire time. I am actually pretty impressed with that considering I didn't count a calorie or carb the entire time on vacation. I love these challenges to get me back into the game!!! Sn.............start weight.........current weight..........labor day goal.......pounds till goal Becca..........178........................178..............................165.......................13................. -
Did anyone have a drain placed immediately after surgery?
Becca replied to Downsize Diva's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had a drain with my revision and even though I hated it, it is there to detect infection or signs of a leak. I had mine taken out before I left the hospital. It is mainly just an annoyance, but so worth it to have the sleeve! -
Weird complication after revision
Becca replied to baytee's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
So sorry that happened! How are you doing? I had pain where the port was for awhile and sometimes I randomly get pain there. It makes me mad that the band makers say it is reversable. It's just not! I hope you are feeling much better now! -

My story - my struggle with myself
Becca replied to Silverlining's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcoime! So glad you are here. This forum was such an amazing form of support for me and still is! I can totally related to many of the list of things you are facing that lead you to surgery. My husband is a theatre director and I would not go to his shows because I didn't want to embarrass him due to my weight. You are making such a great decision for you and your kids. I am able to do so much more now with my family. I don't get tired like I used to and my kids and I are always having so much more fun now. My mom/family was very scared and nervous about the surgery. I sometimes was scared too. It is quite crazy to think about having a majority of your stomach removed. I did great with my sleeve surgery and I am doing so well. My family has all come around and they now understand why the sleeve was the right choice for me. I love having a smaller stomach. It is great to get full on a small amount and I love not obsessing with food anymore. Most importantly, I am SOOOO happy! Good luck with your upcoming sleeve date! YOU WILL DO GREAT! -
Congrats on your sleeve date! YAY! I am a second grade teacher and a few times the kids would ask me if I was having a baby because of my big stomach. I know how you feel. You are going to love the sleeve! Now instead of comments like those you will soon be having people say how great you look!

Welcome! You are making a great choice with the sleeve. I had the band and it caused me all sort of physical pain and not much weight loss. A friend of mine has bypass and has all sorts of Vitamin absorbtion issues. I have been so successful with the sleeve. The only regret I have is not having it done sooner! Life really is better not being obese. I wish you the best on your journey! We are here if you need anything.

Being alone after surgery
Becca replied to mythreechildren2001's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My husband was there and it was nice. He made sure I drank my fluids and brought me my meds. I could have made it on my own though. The only thing that could be a problem is if you have young kids. My husband and mom helped with them the first few days. I didn't have the energy to really watch them, feed them, etc. like I should, especially with all the naps I took. -
I did a 2 day liquid pre-op diet. I had a pretty easy recovery (as soon as the pain meds kicked in- LOL). I would say to enjoy your favorite foods in moderation (Don't do like I did an go crazy. You don't want extra pounds to deal with).

Welcome! You are in the right place. This forum has been such an amazing form of support for me on my journey. I was so scared before I had my sleeve, but my friends here got my through it. The sleeve is one of the best decisions of my life! What is the long term results of seasoned sleevers? Have you reached goal and kept if off? I am only 6 months out, but I have been doing great. 66 pounds lost in 6 months~ (108 pounds total with the band and the sleeve). How much hair loss have you experienced/when does it start/when does it end? I did lose quite a bit. It started at two months. It has stopped now for the most part at 6 months. It isn't too noticable and I am getting baby hairs that are growing back. Any regrets about getting sleeved and wish you decided on another surgery instead? No regrets! I had the band and all it did was cause me pain. I love the sleeve. I understand the recovery is much harder than the other WLS surgeries? I think the recovery was about the same as with the band. The pain was acutally worse for me with the band. I was able to control any pain I had with the pain meds. It can be hard being on liquids, but you get through it! I was lucky and didn't have nausea, which you can get medicine for. Do you still get/feel hungry since the hunger hormone is removed during surgery? I absolutely get full. I have constant restriction. I do get a bit of hunger when it is time to eat. My hunger is way deminished since my surgery. It is nothing like before. Good luck on your journey!!!!

It is so frustrating I know! My surgery got pushed back an entire week because of my silly insurance company playing games. Just hang in there. The sleeve is so worth it!

I used to be a Dr. Pepper addict! I know how you feel! On vacation this past weekend, I tasted some Dr. Pepper and it tasted terrible! Gotta love the sleeve. It will take care of your soda addiction for you. I am now addicted to checking out the clearance racks and Goodwill. I have found some really great jeans at resale shops. : )

I'm so scared to go to Mexico now.
Becca replied to msleesa's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I had my lapband done in Mexico and I got all sorts of crazy reacations from people. I actually loved it when I went and had a great time! It was fun seeing another country. I had my revision to the sleeve done at home because my insurance started paying for WLS. If they hadn't covered it, I would have gone back to Mexico. You will do great. You are only there are few days and then you will be home and have the wonderful sleeve. We are here for you. Best wishes! -
I have a Weight Watchers scale and it has been accurate. I weigh pretty much the exact same as the doctor's scale. I would just go with what your scale says now. It should be able to track the loss. I used to have a horrible scale before, so I know how you feel. It is so frustrating to have fluctuations!

did you tell people about thinking/having vsg?
Becca replied to jasleeve's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
No, you have to do what is right for you. I had a failed lapband , so many already knew I had WLS. Do what you feel right doing. -
