  1. I just wore the hospital gown. You will have the drain that they constantly empty and I would not want to get that blood all over my clothes. You will mainly be resting. A robe may be a good idea for walking the halls. Good luck on your upcoming sleeve surgery. SO happy for you!!!
  2. Yay! So happy for you and your family!!!

    Women Only Question

I have lost a cup size after losing 120 pounds. I was a D and now I am a C. Hopefully I won't go down anymore as I am almost at my goal weight.

    Advice ?

I always low carb it when I hit a plateau. Also, watch the snacking. Extra calories can sneak in without you even realizing it. You really are doing great! I know you can get to your goal weight. We are always here for you. : )

Did you keep it a secret??

I told family and close coworkers and I got some negative responses. It was frustrating because they didn't understand what I was going through. Now, I get 99% positive feedback since it is obvious the sleeve works. The only negativity post op came from a acquantance I have that is a personal trainer. She thinks WLS is cheating. I always remind anyone who is planning to keep their surgery a secret that people WILL ASK you how you are losing the weight. If you don't want to tell them about your surgery, just be prepared with an answer. Good luck! The sleeved life is awesome!

    Two unexpected things

The band is NOT reversible like they say. I still get so mad every time I see a lapband commerical. They make it sound so easy and great when in reality the band is a foreign object in the body that is not meant to be there. The band caused my body lots of damage and serious pain. I am so grateful to have had it removed. The sleeve has been a dream come true for me. I wish you the best as you wait for your sleeve. I know it must be hard to wait, but just know it is all worth it. The sleeve really does work!

You will do great! Congrats on your upcoming sleeve date! The sleeve has been one of the best decisions of my life and I know it will be for you too.

    New to the group

I had a revision too and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE my sleeve! The band never worked right for me and I am so very happy to now have the wonderful sleeve that works. I had numerous complications with my band. With the sleeve, everything has been perfect and the weight just keeps coming off. I do have lots of hanging skin on my stomach, but part of that is from three pregnancies. I feel the sleeve has been one of the BEST decisions of my life. Good luck and let me know if you have any questions!

    The Dreaded Slimes

I get the "slimes" from time to time. Hamburger meat and rice seem to be two triggers for me. It seems like the food just gets stuck and has to come back up. Luckily, it doesn't happen all that often with the sleeve.

    countdown to the band removal

CONGRATS!!! You will LOVE the sleeve. It is so far superior to the band from my personal experience. I can't even believe I lived with the pain of the band for as long as I did. The sleeve is so awesome and it works!!!! I love my sleeve and I wish you the best. Let me know if you need anything or have any questions.
  12. Yes, it is normal. I used to drive myself crazy thinking about how most of my stomach was going to be cut out. Not to mention the stress a few friends added on saying they thought I was out of my mind. I finally realized that I was so unhappy being huge. I just was so tired of feeling horrible and not fitting into my clothes. I just knew that being morbidly obese wasn't "me". I got real with myself (along with the support of some GREAT people here) and decided the sleeve was the right choice for me. I am so glad I now have my sleeve. I finally feel like myself. I hope to be at goal by my one year post op mark. I feel so good and I couldn't be happier. YOU ARE GOING TO DO GREAT! Don't worry too much! : )

    Been Sleeved Too

Welcome!!! We are so glad you are here. You will love all the changes the sleeve is going to bring to your life! CONGRATS!
  14. Remember this is YOUR body and you should decide what surgery is best in the end. One of my friends has to have vitamin IV transfusions because she has such bad malabsorption problems from the bypass. She also has terrbile problems with her teeth because she can't absorb calcium (she is 10 years out). I knew from her struggles, that the bypass was not something I wanted to take on. I have been extremely successful with the sleeve (after a failed lapband). There are many who have lost huge amounts of weight with the sleeve. If you make the right choices (protein first, water, and exercise), you will lose all of your weight. The sleeve has finally given me my life back. I really can't imagine where I would be without it. I wish you the best with your decision. Just know that the sleeve is a great tool and I feel anyone can reach their goals with it.

    I'm Sleeved!

CONGRATS!!!! Welcome to the sleeve family! I know the first few days are rough, but you will get through it. The sleeve is such an amazing tool that changes your life in so many great ways. I hope you feel better soon!
  16. You look great! Way to go!!!!
  17. The first days after surgery are the worst. It is so hard because you can't eat "real" food yet and your body is dealing with all of the changes. I PROMISE it will get better. You will be so amazed with what great things the sleeve is going to do for you! Even though it is hard now, just think of all of the cute clothes you will be buying soon and also be prepared for tons of compliments! What you are going through is normal and so worth the end result. I took my pain medicine and that really helped with the hot flashes and pain from any reflux I had. You will start to notice that each day you will feel better and better. I wish you the best!

    Is this normal??

My band had a leak and I was always hungry. Most of the time I could eat whatever I wanted. I know it is hard right now to wait, but the sleeve is so amazing. I never was all that successful with the band, but with the sleeve I am almost at my goal. Just don't worry so much. The sleeve will change your life!!!
  19. The post op diets vary so much from doctor to doctor. I had the same post op diet as any other sleeve patient, even though I had some pretty serious band complications. The most important thing is protecting your staple line those first two critical weeks while it heals. I just followed what my doctor told me. It was a rough three weeks on the liquid diet, but so worth it!!!
  20. Sending prayers and hugs your way!!
  21. I just thought I would start a December 2010 page! I am having my sleeve on December 20, 2010 in Houston, TX with Dr. Nowzaradan. My surgery is a revision from lapband to the sleeve. Please share your date so we can support each other as our special day approaches. Thanks!
  22. Congrats!!!! The sleeve is amazing. I can't wait to hear about all of your future success!

    My One Worry

Congrats on your upcoming revision! For me, the band and sleeve are totally different. My band would be tight in the morning and then by the end of the day, I could eat whatever I wanted. With the sleeve, I have restriction all the time. I feel that is where the big difference is. I also just don't think about food all the time like I used to. I really think the ghrelin being reduced by the surgery plays a big part in that. I was bad at following the band rules, but I have had no problems with the sleeve. I am not perfect at all. I have had little indulgences here an there (mainly due to my monthy friend that causes head hunger), but I still continue to lose. The sleeve has been a dream come true for me. I love that I have control of food now and I can live my life without those food demons. I do have some sagging skin, but I have been doing Callanetics and it has gotten better. (I am dreaming of a tummy tuck one day. LOL) I wish you the best!!!!

    Medifast after surgery

As long as you get in your protein for the day, they will be fine. I wouldn't want to waste them either. LOL
