  1. I have Tricare Prime also, but for Retirees. Anyway, shortly after the surgery I received a 3rd party collection form from Tricare. It seems that one of the codes that was used sent up a red flag that maybe it was an accident of some kind and that somebody else should be paying for it. As soon as they received the form back everything was approved. It only cost me a $25 copay! Just give them a call and find out what is going on.....Good Luck!
  2. Does your surgeon offer a support group? Mine does and every few months we have a clothing exchange. It is a great way to get rid of my larger sizes and find some smaller sizes that will get me through until the next one. Good Luck!
  3. Glad I am not the only one with dental problems. I also think a lot had to do with the fact that when I was my heaviest, I had given up on myself. I let my hair go all gray, didn't wear makeup, and didn't put a whole lot of thought into the clothes I was wearing. As long as the shirts were long enough to cover my gut and big enough not to cling, I would wear it. I also tried to avoid going to the doctor as I knew that any problems I had would come back to my weight. And now after losing almost 50lbs, I am getting excited about putting makeup on and making sure my hair looks ok. I am still having a problem shopping though. I still gravitate towards the big ugly oversized tops.....I don't know how to shop for cute clothes anymore. But, I am working on it . In fact, that is where I am headed now. I am playing bunko tonight and want to show off a little!! Hope everyone is having a great weekend! p.s. I love the picture of Butters wearing the shoes! And I love your new avatar too Melody!

    In the dark...

Are you actually using a straw? My surgeon did not let us use a straw for 6 mos, nor chew gum for 3 mos. He says you can end up swallowing too much air and then have the gas pains again.....maybe that is what happened. Best of Luck.....hang in there, it does get easier!

tell me you love your band!

I think everybody goes into panic mode right before the surgery.....it's a life changing event. And I know it has been said over and over on this forum, but, it is the truth.....it was the best thing I have ever done for myself and I wish I had done it years ago. I was banded on 11/8/10 and have lost 38lbs since then and 48lbs total. I am actually excited to get on the scale.....that has never happened before. I wish you all the best on your journey.

    I'm so happy!

Congratulations!!! I had my surgery on 11/8/10 and I am down 38 lbs since surgery, but, 48 lbs since starting this journey.....so excited!!!!! In fact today I got below 200....haven't been here in a lot of years. Everyday I get more and more excited! Best of luck to you!
  8. I have to tell you all that this is my favorite post to read. You are all so funny and positive and it almost seems like a little family! So I am inspired to join in. I had my lapband surgery on 11/8/10. I think I am doing pretty good....still have days when I don't eat as well as I should. I am 45 and have two kids 22 and 16. I have just recently started going to the gym....something I have always hated doing. I don't enjoy going like some people but I am forcing myself for now. Anyway, I look forward to getting to know all of you. I hope everyone is doing well and has a great week! Jan

    Traveling after Fill

My surgeon is very relaxed and hasn't mentioned anything about not traveling after a fill. In fact my co-worker just had her first fill and is flying to Vegas this weekend. He has told us though, that if we are traveling we can stop by and pick up a special syringe that they use for the fills to take with us as not every doctor or emergency room has the correct equipment and it could damage your port if they don't use the right syringe. But, I would def check the area where you will be....even call a few of the doctors offices and explain the situation to make sure that if you do have a problem that they are willing to help you out. I have seen lots of comments on this website stating that other doctors aren't always willing to work on someone else's patient. Wish you the best of luck! Hang in there, it gets easier!
  10. I took two weeks off and I am glad I did. I also had a hiatal hernia repair....which I think added to the additional recovery time. And it was nice not to have to be at work trying to do the liquid and mushy foods as well.

    Insurance Tri-care Prime

Tri-Care Prime has been wonderful! It was a very fast approval and my cost share was only $25! Best of luck to you!
  12. I am going to get a family picture taken (not too many pictures of me now), a boob job, and then a trip to a beach somewhere!
  13. Why do you want it taken out already? One month is not really enough time to know what it can do for you. You should give yourself some time to heal and adjust to the band. Hang in there!

    20 Weeks & I'm half way there!!!!

Congrats!!! And thanks for sharing...I was banded on 11/8 and it gives me hope that this will all be worth it.
  15. Thanks for the tip...I am going to try it!
  16. Hi South Dakota Girl! How are you doing since surgery? Do you go to any of the support group meetings? I have only been to one so far, but, am looking forward to meeting more people from the area that are going through the same thing as I am. Hope you are doing well.

    Banded Monday 11/8/10

Wow....we had surgery the same day and there is no way I could do 15 minutes on the treadmill. I still have bad gas pain in my shoulder and had a bout of the dry heaves last night that nearly did me in. Glad you are doing well and maybe I will try the treadmill tomorrow!
  18. I was banded on 11/8/10. I had to stay overnight and really just getting into the swing of things today. I really don't think it has totally sunk in yet. Isn't it odd to get cold feet after the procedure instead of before? I am still doing liquids and feeling pretty good. Haven't had too much problem with the gas. Maybe it will take until I have something to eat that is more solid. Did anyone else have this issue?

    11-8-10 Banded YEHEY!

Yep...scrambled egg. Just added a little bit of milk to it and that kept it fluffier and moister.

    11-8-10 Banded YEHEY!

I was just banded. My doctor only has us do Clear liquids the day of the surgery and then full liquids for 3-4 days. Then we can try adding small amounts of soft foods.

    11-8-10 Banded YEHEY!

Banded 11/8 and managed 1/2 of a soft scrambled egg for lunch....it was delicious! And just had 1/2 cup of mashed potatoes for supper. Everything seems to be sitting well.

    How soon to lay down??

I slept on my side the 2nd night. I just put a small pillow under the side of my stomach to support it so that the incisions weren't being stretched out. Hope that works for you...
  23. Welcome Gusso5. I am on the other side of the state and had mine done in Rapid City. If it was me, I think I would contact each of the doctors and see if they have a support group meeting scheduled that you could sit in on. You should be able to get a feel of how their patients were treated. Maybe that would help. Dr. Sufficool did mine and he and his team are awesome! Hope you find someone just as awesome to do yours! Good Luck!

    Really? No More?

If I can give up Diet Coke then anybody can. I was drinking about approx 9 cans a day. The first time I tried to quit cold turkey, my kids begged me "please for the love of God have a diet coke and leave us alone". I would panic at night if there wasn't enough in the fridge to get me through until morning and God help whoever drank the last one. I gave it up over a year ago. I bought 3 of the 20oz bottles and everytime I wanted some I would go have just a drink and put the bottle back in the fridge. When the last one was gone, I was done. Then I switched to caffeine free diet coke....which was much easier to give up when it came to have the surgery. Wish you the best of luck!

    11-8-10 Banded YEHEY!

I was banded on the 8th also. I am not having very much pain, except my throat is killing me. Just think positive and this will be behind us before long. We are on the road to recovery now and I am so excited!
