  1. Hello... Lap banders. I need help. I was banded in November of 08. I was doing great. At 24 months I had lost 110 pounds.( I was 20 pounds from my goal.) I have not changed anything. I go in for annual check ups on my band. In November (2010) I was fine. In January I noticed I had gained 8 pounds. I attributed it to the cheating I did around the holidays. I cheat every year. So that was not different. In February I gained more weight. So I started went back to square 1. Food Journaling, Asking myself am I hungry??? My husband had Gastric Bypass In Semtember 2010. He started night eating. I moved to another room. If the food was there I would snack. Long story short...March I had a Flouroscope done. I have a dialation. I was told I need to do three weeks of liquids. I have started and stopped. I just cant handle liquids...NO matter how hard I try while still having to cook for my family. The question is what to do next...What do I do next to see if I have a slippage. I do not want to gain anymore weight. I just had a muscle milk light for dinner. What should I do next. I used True results for my surgery. I only see the P.A. in the office. They do not have doctors in the office. They basically watch your weight loss. My family doctor takes care of my blood work for me. Has anyone else had this dialation issue??? Do I ask to have my dialation surgically repaired.?? I made such progress while using my band as a tool....Now I feel stuck... Any help would be appreciated...Sincerely....a sad and frustrated bandster....

Help me I'm eating and I cannot stop!!

I am feeling exactly like you right now. I am so struggling with my weight. I was banded November 2008...I had lost 110 pounds....I have gained 8 pounds in the last month. I am freaking out. I called True results to schedule a fill and she said to me,you have not been in since last march and scheduled me three weeks out for a fill as I wanted it under flouro-scope., to check my band. I try to manage my own care as I have not seen a doctor since my surgery and when I asked about that the receptionist had know knowledge of that. So...I have had ice crunching issues(driving my family nuts). Decided to have my GP follow up with my blood work and found out that I was enimic, vitamin D deficient, and my thyroid was low....I did not feel like doing anything let alone excercise...So what I am saying is you have to take care of your self. My son is also ADD. He is going to graduate from High school in June and he has been accepted to college. Received his acceptance letter on Christmas eve. It was awesome. From one parent to another be strict with your son, get him on a schedule and stick to it...My doctors and private psychologists at the time said to give him extra time and wider boundries. Over the years this has made life around the house more difficult, takes him longer to do his chores, clean his room, homework. I would have been more strict. Your son will be just fine as I can hear that you are a caring and an involved parent. The husband thing...I am very unhappy right now with my husband of 24 years...we all go through this....the bottom line is.. Take care of your self, sometimes as moms we forget to do that.....

purpose of 48 hour liquids/mushies post fill

My Office does 48 hours and Mushies. I know for me my stomach is sensitive to fills. I have to take liquid motrin the night before and the morning of my fill, and the next 48 hours. It has to calm down before I introduce any liquids and soft foods. If I do not stick to the guidelines my stomach gets iritated and I get over restricted and I have complications...So I would stick to what your doctor says... from my expirience. I am currently down 104 pounds and going in for a fill tomorrow.....I have not had a fill in 12 months...as I was at my sweet spot and continued to loose weight.
  6. I enjoy eating! I just eat less!!! I do not eat breads or pizza...Do not miss it. I have lost 106 pounds in 24 months and I am never hungry.... Go for it....You will not regret it! I had my surgery at 6 am and I was home by 12:30 that afternoon!!

no restriction! how many cc's did it take you?

I am 22 months post op. I have had numerous fills. I read in a lapband book(from True Results) that a person can loose fluid every 6 months.1/3 of a cc?? something like that. My sweet spot is 7 CC's...I do not remember what I started with be patient...and get your fills, I did one every other month to 7cc. Now I go every six months, Good Luck..

Do I need to be unfilled a little?

I have been banded for 20 months. I had one reaction on a fill. I started using motrin the day prior to my fill and two/three days later. I do not eat bread at all. Not even toast. I eat small portions of meat dipped in ranch dressing....I use wheat thins(4 crackers) with lunch meat(no fillers) and cheese for lunch. It has worked for me. Down 102 pounds. I have never unfilled. Good Luck

    2nd Fill - Too Tight???

I have had many fills. I was getting 1 cc fills and having a reaction so I went to 1/2 cc fills and using liquid motrin the day before my fill and the next 48 hours. It seem to reduce the swelling and tightness of my band. I am currently at 7cc's. Good luck. I hope this helps.
