  1. Hi All, In 2 hours I leave home to go to the hospital to have the band fitted. I am afraid and excited. I have a devil on one sholder and the angel on the other telling me two different things right now. Did anyone else feel this? I have been on Optifast for 20 days now and have lost 19 pounds I just hope the liver is doing ok and it all goes ahead correctly. Well see you all on the other side
  2. Hi All Band day is Oct 7th. Thing is you all sound excited and jumping for joy about having the band in. I had to wait 12 months on the public list to get mine so I have read a lot, thought a lot and discussed it a lot and I am ready to change my life, but I dont feel excited. Will this happen??? I am no longer afraid of the operation, nor the tough journey ahead of me and I no longer blame anyone else for me being fat. I did it by myself, people want to blame society and blame ads on TV but I am the one who opened my mouth and shoved all the rubbish inside of it. And now I am the one taking my life back, making my life healthier and hopefully living a lot longer than I would with the weight on. I am not doing it for my kids or my husband but i am doing it for me. Sorry venting here but I have never said those things before and it feels great. Good luck to us all:biggrin:

    October 2010 Bandsters!!

Hi All Oct 7 here. I am reading a lot about all the appointments you all have to attend. I am in australia and here you see all the Drs and dietician on the same day. It does take about 4 hours but its so easy. I had no psychiatrist appointment and no plotting of diet and exercise. I dont understand why they make it so hard for you to get healthy. Does every one in the states have to do these things before banding?

    October 2010 Bandsters!!

Hi All, I am to be banded Oct 7th in Australia. I have a question and it may seem like a whinge but that Optifast is YUCK do any of you have any ideas how to hide the taste of it. I have finished all my tests and my pre-admission visit so I guess its all go. Does the Dr. set the goals for you with regard to how much weight you want to lose. They did ask me what my goal was and its to be off medication by xmas 2011. "Commitment leads to action. Action brings your dream closer. " Good luck everyone:thumbup:
  6. Hi All, I just got my date today and its in 2 weeks time. I have to start the Optifast this Thursday which will be ok I as its the begining of my journey. I wanted to as, did any of you have uneasy thoughts about having the port under your skin? I know thousands of people have had this done and I would like to know if any of you also felt uneasy about the port. Thanks Gerry:ohmy:
  7. hi all thanks for your replies and help its so nice to know there are others with weird thoughts.:crying: I started my Optifast today and its not the nicest stuff but its a means to an end. I get banded on the 7th oct and will only stay one night. It took me one year on the public hospital free waiting list to be called for surgery which is not very long at all really. I havent set a weight goal yet but I have 2 goals My goals are to reduce my medications and to look ok in a pair of jeans christmas day 2011 I dont mean perfect but just ok.
