  1. Happy 49th Birthday carolynNY!

  2. Skinnymom, Hope you are doing well and feeling better all the time! I had surgery five weeks ago. I could not believe no one told me how uncomfortable I would be for the first two weeks. Every time I "ate" anything, including water, I had a lot of gas pains and burped all the time. I had terrible pains in my shoulders, my back, my stomach...... Things seems to miraculously get a lot better after two weeks post-op. My surgeon told me that it was unusual for me to feel so much pain after eating, but at least I never got nauseous or vomitted. I enjoyed moving on to the pureed foods and they seemed to make me feel better. Oh, have you heard about the Better Than Bouillion? It is delicious and has more protein than the regular bouillion. I found it at Walmart next to the regular bouillion. Yummy!! Good luck!

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

I had my surgery five weeks ago with a BMI of about 39. I lost 20 pounds before surgery and have lost 26 more pounds in the five weeks since surgery. I have been very careful about following the nutritional guidelines. I have been eating the required 60 grams of protein a day, along with the 64 plus ounces of water. I eat mostly high protein and high calcium foods, along with fruits and vegetables. I am avoiding refined foods/sugars/starches and limiting the carbs. I do eat a little of the diet bread and wheat crackers for fiber though. My skin and my body seem to be toning up nicely with this combination, so I am hopeful that I will avoid plastic surgery later on. Good luck with everything!!
  4. Vanna, I had my surgery five weeks ago, so have been on the regular diet for only a week. I was not hungry the first two weeks post-op on the liquid diet. Just make sure to keep yourself well-hydrated between "meals" (after that one hour post meal). I was definitely ready to move up to soft foods after the two weeks. The sugar-free pudding tasted great to me and just four ounces was filling. Good luck with your surgery. I think you will be so happy that you did it. I sure am!! Carolyn

    Banding January 20th

Karen, I was banded Dec. 1st and I feel like that day was the most important day of my life. I followed the post-op diet religiously and have lost weight easily. I am getting hungry now and will be getting my first fill next week. The most important thing to remember is that the discomfort you may feel after surgery is only temporary. You should be feeling like a million bucks before you know it. Good luck with everything. You have made a smart choice!

    post op regrets

Hang in there Suzy! I had my surgery Dec. 1 and it is a lot harder than I ever expected. But I am certain that things will get better as time goes by. Just remember there is a light at the end of the tunnel and that the long term success will be worth a few difficult days or weeks. It will get better! Don't give up. You have come too far for that!

    burping

I had my LB surgery a week ago and I have burped more in the last week than I have in my entire life! I hope it doesn't last forever.
