I have been battling with the bulge ever since my teens. Yo Yo dieting all the time. Tried every new fad diet, some worked, some not and always ended up putting more weight on than when I began. I attended an informational seminar and decided I had enough of diets that fail and immediately booked my lapband surgery.

Update: January 2012 Had my lap band surgery 2 years ago and am no better off than the beginning weight, My weight loss stalled 4 months after surgery and from that time on I have never been able to get the right amount of fluid in my band. It was either to much or too little. I was VERY discouraged to say the least, As I live in Canada a trip to my surgeons office for an adjustment involved crossing the border and driving 2 hours each way. The border wait times can be hours at times.

I should mention that my health has not been great and I have been suffering with chronic pain which started 2 years prior to getting my lap band. After many different doctors and medications we had found the magic med combinations that enabled me to lead a relatively normal life, It was after the four months into my lap band that I began to also feel unwell and other symptoms started popping up and that was when we couldn't get the proper band adjustment. I was on and off of prednisone which I found made a huge difference in the tightness of my band. This past year my health has severely declined and I still do not have a diagnosis. One doctor calls it fibromyalgia and the other calls it chronic regional pain syndrome. I presently am still on wait lists to see Specialists. The Canadian Medical system sucks, you get what you pay for!!!

My last blood test shows a very elevated amount of inflammation in my body. I honestly feel that this is the biggest reason my lap band hasn't been successful. I consulted with my surgeon as the belief now is that I most likely have lupus and we decided that it would be best to have an unfill so I could eat normally giving me the time to address some of my health issues. I had more than one half of the fluid removed from my band in early December and am still waiting to see a Rheumatologist to possibly get a diagnosis. I am also going to another Specialist this week which I am going to a private clinic where I will pay for the services.

Just wanted to update everyone as to why I haven't reported my progress.=(
