    A new bander

Hi All, I got my band on 16 Oct 06 and my first fill 6 Dec 2006. I have lost 30 pounds so far but most of that was pre-op diet for 2 weeks. During the post-op/pre-fill period I was quite hungry so I only lost a few pounds during that period. Because my clinic is closed over Christmas and I will not return to them until February my doctor gave me a 4cc fill. I have started walking 10 minutes a day on the treadmill and will be building that up to 30 minutes over the next couple of weeks. Can I finally expect the weight to fall off like magic or am I being dillusional. Good luck to all of you. Geoff

Hi All, Well, I did it. Banded 16 Oct and filled (4cc) 6 Dec. Does the magic now begin or is it a hard road???? I'd like to know. Geoff

    friend needed

Hi Sarah, You have lost weight, so we know it works. You are dissatisfied at the speed so why not try a new approach. All of us who are banded, or considering it, have one thing in common. WE GET HUNGRY. One of the things the band does for you is it can take away that hunger. I know that I was always hungry and eating a meal used to be a sprint race. I have been banded for about a month and a half and got my first fill last week. I used to eat in front of TV with my food on my lap. I sort of hugged my food. I now do it differently. I eat whilst I work at my computer. My meal is not in front of me, but to my right so I am not looking directly at it. My idea is to do some work, do some eating. But what has happened is, because I am no longer hungry, I tend to forget to eat between mouthfulls so the meal takes much longer. I realised that my eating was not only because I was hungry but also because of habit. The hunger has gone. Change the habit. What I am saying, and others may not agree with this, change where and when you eat and do something distracting, and that you enjoy, while you eat. You might find that eating then becomes less important to you. We all are different and you might think of something else that works for you. Good luck. Geoff

    Post-Op Questions

I was hungry about a week after the operation. I had my first fill 3 days ago and for the first time in my life I am not hungry. Yesterday I was doing some work on my computer and eating Breakfast (half a can of soup) at the same time and kept forgetting that I was eating between mouthfulls. Hang in there.
