Psych Eval in Boston Area? Help!
EmilyIsSleeved posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hey guys, my boyfriend is going through insurance hoops to get approval but he is having a hard time finding a therapist to see him to get his psych eval done. We have called around 15 therapists and none of them have been helpful and won't see him since it would just one consultation. Just wondering if anyone lives in the Boston area and if so, who did you see for your psych eval? Thanks! -
Psych Eval in Boston Area? Help!

Yes he did! They ended up calling to reschedule for the next evening, but when he did actually get the call, it went smoothly. They apologized a bunch and faxed in his clearance immediately after the call ended. Thank you for your suggestion! -

They evaluated you online? What insurance do you have? I'm just afraid using something online or by phone won't be good enough for his insurance company (he has BCBS Fed) -
Psych Eval in Boston Area? Help!

His surgeon is out of state so they told him to find someone in his area and his nutritionist is enough of a hassle to deal with since she is against him getting surgery so young (even though he is 23). I'm so surprised that we haven't found a therapist. It's literally the last appointment he has to schedule before he can submit to insurance. -
Just wondering if any of you have had to buy two seats when flying somewhere and what the policies were. I am considering flying somewhere and would either be on Delta or Sun Country. I think I will be fine, but I'm worried about my boyfriend (360 pounds) needing another seat. Thanks in advance for any input!

Paying for Plastics (Mexico)
EmilyIsSleeved replied to EmilyIsSleeved's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Yeah I am currently looking into a personal loan. I hope it all works out! Keep me posted on how things go for you -
I have been spending the past few weeks researching and talking with numerous surgeons from Mexico. I decided on Dr. Sauceda in Monterrey but found out that the company he used to work with for financing/payment plans no longer works with him. Just wondering what other options there are. How did you pay for plastics? Or are there surgeons in Mexico that you know do payment plans/work with a financing company?

Care credit is not accepted by Dr. Sauceda either. Can you get medical loans from just an ordinary bank?? The only reason I can't afford to wait to save money is that I am a college student now and once I graduate next year, I doubt many new jobs will be thrilled to let me take off such an extended period of time. That's why I am really trying to get something done this summer if at all possible. Just trying to find a way to make it work. -
I recently discovered Dr. Sauceda in Monterrey but I was wondering if anyone has been a patient of his and would like to share their story. I'm kind of fearful about the idea of going to a different country for surgery but it is WAY cheaper than the quotes I got from a local surgeon.

Hey everyone! Just wondering if there were any people in my age group that are from Minnesota or the Midwest in general that would like to chat/be support buddies when needed. I've been having some difficulty staying on track now that I am no longer living with my parents and have to make my own meals. I look forward to hearing from you all!

MN Buddy Wanted. 11/8/2013 Sleeve Date
EmilyIsSleeved replied to tammyd0966's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am also from Minnesota! I had my surgery March 6th of 2012. Looking to possibly get some plastics done next summer when I'm done with college for summer. Totally willing to talk with anyone about surgery stuff! More support/buddies is never a bad thing -
Anyone from Minnesota/Midwest?
EmilyIsSleeved replied to EmilyIsSleeved's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Well I'm always up for being buddies with anyone even interested in the surgery. Don't know how helpful a person can be until you talk to them haha -
Hey everyone! I am just starting to look into plastics so I'm sure I will have a million questions over the next few months. My main question at this point is how much is too much for one surgery date? I basically need surgery from the knees to the neck (thighs, tummy, breast lift (plus possible implant), and arms). Since I am a college student, I basically would need to have surgery over a summer break due to lifting restrictions and such. What I'm wondering is if all the stuff I listed could be done in one surgery date or if you think a surgeon would want to split it into multiple surgery dates. Thank you for any responses!

Anyone from Minnesota/Midwest?
EmilyIsSleeved replied to EmilyIsSleeved's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am about 90 minutes west of the Twin Cities. I had my surgery in March of 2012 so I've been post op awhile now. I don't really have the problem of getting junk food from my parents because they are both WLS patients as well. However, they can't give as much support as I am looking for because they had the duodenal switch surgery so they don't exactly get that their post op requirements are different from mine. I try my best to use a food tracker, but I admit that it has been thrown to the side recently since I'm back in college. -
My New YouTube Channel (My Surgery Journey)
EmilyIsSleeved posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello everyone! Just thought I would quick share that I have recently decided that I want to share my journey on YouTube. I have been debating about this decision ever since I had the surgery last March and have finally gotten to the point that I don't care what negative things people may say in the comments. So I am basically turning all of my journals into video format. The main reason I have decided to do this is because I had the surgery so young and I know there are plenty of other teenagers/young adults trying to decide if WLS is right for them. I want to appear when they search for videos on the surgery. Not to mention, I know there isn't a lot of published stuff on WLS for my age group so it will be interesting to see where I'm at in future years. So if there is anyone that would like to watch my first video, and possibly subscribe, my username is EmilyIsSleeved and the link to my first video is below. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X7es3OKtjTk Thanks! -
Does Our B12 Have To Be Sublingual?
EmilyIsSleeved posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just wondering, do we have to take our B12 as sublingual? I hate taking my B12 because it tastes so bad. I know they have it in a form that you can swallow, but I didn't know if it would absorb right (just because I know we can't take certain pills like time released things). My doctor simply says to suck it up and do the sublingual, but I don't want to if I don't have to haha. Thanks! -

My surgeon makes all of his patients take at LEAST 1000 mcg a day. -
I Know I Need To Drink More, But How?
EmilyIsSleeved posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am just about 6 months out and down around 80 pounds, so I am doing well weight loss wise. However, I am still having a huge problem with getting enough Fluid throughout the day. I am always feeling tired so I think I am dehydrated since I take my recommended Vitamins and supplements. I know we get told to just sip sip sip but for some reason I just can't do it. I used to be a gulper so am not used to taking smaller drinks. I just feel like when I sip, I am getting nothing done because it takes forever for the drink to be gone haha. Right now I am probably only getting in 48-50 ounces a day which obviously isn't enough for me because I used to drink 80+ ounces a day when I could gulp...So I was just wondering if you guys had any tips on how I could maybe trick myself into getting more fluids or ways that I can overcome the problem of no longer being able to take large drinks at a time. -
Lets Get Everyone Yo Do A Weigh In!
EmilyIsSleeved replied to amusgrave's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started out about the same as you and not to disappoint you, but I am only now just starting to notice that I have lost weight and I am 75 pounds down. I think it's just because I have been big my whole life and my mind is just used to seeing a fat girl in the mirror. I will say though that I have become more confident simply because more and more people are noticing and telling me I look good and am doing a good job. It just takes time! Great progress so far though! Let me know if you need anyone to chat with since we started around similar weights. -

How Long Before Things Start To "even Out"
EmilyIsSleeved posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey guys! I have lost about 75 pounds since starting my pre -op diet in February. As the weight has come off, I have noticed it is mainly coming from my chest, legs, neck, and forearms. It still looks like I haven't lost anything from my hips and stomach. Just wondering how long it may take for things to kind of even out/how long before my problem areas catch up to the good areas. Thanks for any responses -

Post Op......diarrhea
EmilyIsSleeved replied to skane10's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As everyone here usually says.....liquid in, liquid out. Kind of a gross way to say it, but it is true. This is completely normal while you are on the liquid/very soft foods after surgery. The problem should stop once you switch over to solid foods. Good luck on your journey and welcome to the losers bench!
