  1. The way my day goes, in order to get all 6 meals in, my last meal would be at about 8:00. Is that too late?
  2. I am 13 days post op and have no trouble eating anything. I do not have any restriction, and everything goes down ansd stays down just fine. I do take tinyy bites and chew food very carefully. But I don't think I'll have any trouble eating anything at all. This make me nervous, as I am fearful to go back to my old eating habits! I do not have another follow up until Dec 21, but I don't want to gain any weight back!! It already seems I have gained 2 lbs. back since going on to the mushies! UGH!! So worried!
  3. Fusion, good luck tomorrow!! You will do great!! Yeah, the first few days was all about shakes and broth for me. I had no appetite at all. But it has come back and now I am in the mushy food stage. Keep us posted on how you are doing!
  4. Hi all! Is anyone else not receiving e-mails when you get a reply to a thread? Ever swince they re-vamped the site, no more e-mails! Bummer! How is everyones weekend? i go back to work tomorrow after a lovely 4 day weekend. Now the rush is on until Holiday recess in about a month! I am actaully looking forward to going back to work because it keeps me in routine. I am constantly busy and do not think about eating as much. I am still strugglig with portion control and eating the right things. Last night I made a great low cal turkey rice casserole. It was basically like a turkey soup without all of the broth. But it was delish! I know I took more that I should of, but I was starving!! I did chew it slowly and very well, while taking small bites. I really need my nex appt to come soon so I can discuss a fill. My appt is on 12/21 and I cannot do this battle every single day! I do it, because I did this surgerty for a reason. But I can't live my life like this forever!
  5. Lemonchick, what an inspriational story!! Good for you!! Hoping I have the dedication that you do! I am 17 days post op and struggle every day with my portions and hunger.

    I AM EATING!!

Hope everything went well for you!! I am 2 weeks post op and stated mushies on Wed. But a few days before, I was so hungry I was nauseous! So i tool a 1/2 oz meatball, mixed it with some broth and ate that. It really helped a lot! But that was the only time I ate mushies until I saw the dr. Luckily, the dr said it was ok I did that. Since I got the go on mushies, I've eaten, noodles, chicken sausage, and some Thanksgiving foods. So far, everything has been fine for me.
  7. I think i did okay for my 1st Thanksgiving! I got the word to start on the mushy food phase on Monday. So yesterday, I had a little turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, stuffing and one small bite of cheesecake. I think I did ok. I chewed everything really well and ate using small bites. I thought I woud be tempted to eat more, but surprisingly, I didn't !
  8. HAPPY THANKSGIVING to my fellow November Bandsters!! Today will be a challenge for many of us!! But let's all just do our best and remember to be thankful for this opportunity that we have been given to change our lives for the better! Have a wonderful day!

    i am finally banded!!!

Congrats firebug!! Wishing you a speedy recovery!!
  10. Hey welcome back everyone!! And a big welcome to our newbies here! Missed everyone! Hope all are doing well. It's been a long 3 days without you guys! I am 13 post op and had my post op visit yesterday. I have been graduated to mushy foods! YEAH!! Just in time for Thanksgiivng! I go back in 4 weeks for the next follow up to see if I will need a fill. Right now the band is open and just on the stomach, so I have no restriction at all. Makes me nervous since I am ofthen hungry. I also tested out some foods and notice I can pretty much eat anything, without a problem. Last night I ate a small bowl of egg noodle stossed in a little olive oil and garlic with chicken sausage and I was fine. Today we have a Thanksgiving feast at school, so I'll try a little turkey and mashed potatoes. That will guide me on how to eat tomorrow for the real Turkey Day. I was a little peeved at my Dr. They never did the x-ray to check if the band was placed properly before I left the hospital. THey usually do it the next morning when you stay over, but being I went home the same day, they goofed. I was upset because I had to leave early from work to do go do this before I could have my post op. Luckily everything was fine, but let me tell you I would have freaked if anything was wrong!! Anyway, off to get resy for work. Looking forward to a 4 day weekend! Hoping everyone has a great Thanksgiving!! Enjoy!
  11. Deb, thanks for your words. It made me feel a lttle better, and less guilty that I took that meatball!! But if I didn't do it, then I really felt that I would eat something more drastic and dangerous to my stomach! But I am just so hungry and I just want to eat anything!! But I keep my control in fear of hurting myh stomach! I did this surgery for a reason, and I refuse to be beat! I am considering taking a scrambled egg tonight with some melted cheese for dinner. I just need something more to eat other than liquids!!
  12. I just got over here yesterday and am thrilled to find great support and so much information! My date is set for November 11. I actually could have done it sooner, but being a teacher, it was better for me to do it during a holiday weekend so I don't have to use up another sick day. Anyway, if anyone else out there is scheduled for November, please come join here!! Let's do this journey together!
  13. Hi all! Well today is one week post-op!! I officially start week #2 of liquids. Has anyone tried to eat other than liquids? I actually mashed a meatball today, and ate just a tiny bit. I probably ate about a 1/2 tsp worth, then put the rest in the sauce. I feel fine, but won't have anymore until I get to the mushy phase next week. I certainly do not want to hurt my stomach and jeapordize anything. I don't know why i did it. Maybe because I have not had a solid food since before my pre-op diet! But i have to tell you, I am hungry a lot! I ate more than the 6 oz of liquified soup I am supposed to have. Then I'll have my shake later and that is that. I am trying to be so strong, and am anxious to get my first fill in a few weeks!
  14. Lacey, hang in there!! You will feel better!! Every day gets easier!! I was banded on 11/11, and today is the first day I feel about 75% myself. Yes, I'm still sore, and a little constipated, but the gas has finally dissipated and it's easier to move around. I am still sore in the port area, but that too will slowly subside. The difficulty breathing is normal. I had so much pain in my chest, and breathing was hard for me too. But that went away by day 3. If you still have trouble tomorrow, call your dr. jsut to be sure. Hang in there!! You are doing great!!
  15. I am only 4 days post-op, and on the liquid diet. My nutritionist recommended my "meals" spread out over the day. Eventually I will only have my 3 meals. But for now, I really try not to eat past 8 pm, as I go to bed around 10 and do not want to go to bed on a full stomach.
  16. I am day 4 post-op and forthe first time I was hungry last night. My 2 week liquid diet consists of 4 Protein shakes, a soup, pudding and yogurt. Yesterday during the day, I was hungry and only had 3 shakes, soup and a pudding. But in the middle of the night, I was starving!! Today I will make sure to have all of my required intake and drink more water! I generally do drink al ot of Water, but have not since I have been feeling full. Today I am also going to have chicken soup with pureed noodles, so that will hopefully make me feel fuller. I am nervous that I will not have enough discipline to train myself to eat the right foods. But I have lost 20 lbs already, and that is keeping me going!
  17. Good luck today Purple!!!
  18. So I had my surgery yesterday, and I slept horribly!! My back is killing me! All I want to do is lay down! How long after the surgery did you lay down to sleep rather than be propped up??
  19. My dr said to have at least 4 shakes a day plus the other things like a soup or pudding or yogurt. I am just not hungry though. I do not feel like eating, and it is so hard to force the food down my throat! So far today, all i ahve had are 2 shakes, and that is it! Maybe as I heal, I'll feel like eating more, but right now, I just can't do it!
  20. 2 days post-op and feeling better today. Last night was disasterl. I jsut could not get comfortable and did not sleep more than 4 hours!! I took a nap today trying to lay on my back and I was okay. I slept for 2 hours. I ahve been doing my shakes, a yogurt, and a soup a little later on. I am jsut so so tired!! i am hoping to get a better night sleep tonight! Today is my birthday!! I keep saying my next birthday will be 100 times better for so many reasons! I got out today. We took my son to the park. It was good to be outside in the beautiful fall weather and walk around. Once i get some decent selpp I think I will really start feeling much better!! I am trying very hard to get back to work on Monday, but I am not sure if I can do it. I may just need one more day to recupe. Hope everyone is doing well. Enjoy the rest of the weekend!
  21. I am 2 days post-op and am still ridding myself of gas. My arm feels so sore. It feels hot when you touch it and it almost feels like rugburn under the skin. It is the left arm, so could it be related to anything? I was in a lot of pain last night and couldn't rest my arm in a position that it would feel better. What do you think?
  22. Okay, I am officially here!! Feeling a lot of gas pain in my chest, and not hungry at all. I am forcing down broth and jello!! I did not have to stay in the hospital overnight, and came straight home to bed. I was not comforable at all! All I want to do is sleep and I can't get comfortable!! I really want to lay down instead of being propped up on pillows!! Tomorrow I start the full liquid diet, so no more clear fluids! WOOT!!
  23. Hi all!! Well, I will officially be here tomorrow! My surgery is scheduled for 7 am! I ahve to be there at 5:30!! G Rose, my fellow Geiss-er, glad to hear you are feeling better! I can't believe it is here already!! I will have to go back into the thread here to review all of your great ideas and tips that you have all shared!! See you over here tomorrow! God night all!!
