Have lived with obesity nearly all my adult life.  This resulting in hypertension and type 2 diabetes.  Very difficult (near impossible) for me to lose weight and keep it off.  Fearful of possible complications with gastric bypass surgery, I did not want to have that procedure done as I considered it too radical.  When lapband became more common I was interested due to the fact that "if all else fails" it can be removed, if necessary.  It doesn't permanently change the digestive system.  Went to a seminar held by my surgeon and was impressed with what I heard.  Was given lots of info at this seminar.  Lots of time for Q and A.  Plus a testimony from a recent lap band patient who was having very good results with no apparent complications.  In an effort to reduce my weight permanently (and eliminate, or at least reduce, the need for so many medications) I had the surgery on October 13, 2009.  I have fairly slowly lost 35 pounds to date (9.10.10) and I am elated at the loss.  However it has been somewhat of a challenge to deal with my reflux problems (which have still not been completely conquered).  I still search for the one true answer for me in finding how to live comfortably and resolve the problem of reflux.
