Lots of burping anyone?
BandedJenny replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm burping all the time. I get embarrassed especially when I'm in front of other people that don't know about my lap-band. I was told the burping is something to get used to. -
SO SAD TO SAY GOODBYE TO BREAD ALTOGETHER
BandedJenny replied to lovemysgt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I miss bread -
I make sure I have at least 60 grams of protein a day. About 2 months ago a lot of my hair starting falling off. I too thought I was going to go bald. Fortunately my hair finally stopped falling off about 2 weeks ago. I hope this is it and it grows back.

Qeustion about port site
BandedJenny replied to BrendaTx's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't have a swelling around the port site. I don't know if it would be normal or not. But you said it feels warm after 3 weeks? I would contact your surgeon just to be on the safe side. -
Medicine Crushed forever?
BandedJenny replied to omar88's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I always swallow pills with no problem. I've had 3 fills. -
How soon till #2?
BandedJenny replied to Russian_BANDit_inNY's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it took a few days for me. Maybe once I started mushies, but I was told that was normal by my surgeon. -
Anyone else having problems eating in the morning?
BandedJenny replied to hautemama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm always tighter in the morning. I have a protein shake as breakfast though. I hate eggs so I don't mind not being able to eat solids in the morning. I sometimes have yogurt. -
I got a fill on Monday and finally feel restriction. I feel great! That said, by the end of the day I end up with a sore throat. Is something wrong? I'm not vomiting, don't have reflux and I'm not getting sick. What is this. I'm also drinking plenty of water. Oh, and because of the sore throat, I end up coughing at night.

Second Fill- I feel super tight.
BandedJenny posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went in for my second fill today. I had 4.5 ccs and my surgeon put in another 2. That makes a total of 6.5. Before this fill, I hardly felt any restriction. But now, I feel super tight. I can drink water but very slowly. I just got my fill about 3 hours ago. Is this normal? Will it get better? -
Second Fill- I feel super tight.
BandedJenny replied to BandedJenny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel better today. Still tight but I was able to have a protein shake (Muscle Milk light). It did take me about an hour to drink it. I think I just need to give it a couple of days. -
I'm 26 and was banded Dec. 16th.

TMI, Best Post-Op Sex Positions?
BandedJenny replied to bandiebum's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I waited about 5 days and haven't had any trouble with any positions. My husband just knows to stay away from my port area. -
Yesterday I woke up with a cold. I've been sneezing and coughing. I called my surgeon today and asked is I could take any meds for that. She was out for the day and hopefully I'll get a call back tomorrow. Does anyone know if I can take OTC cold meds? I am no longer on any other post op pain meds. I'm scared that if I keep sneezing/coughing, my port will flip. Please tell me it wont!

I say Mederma. It has worked great on my stretch-marks from pregnancy and I'll be using it for my incision scars as well.

Night 2 at home and don't feel right
BandedJenny replied to amber2604's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with others, day two was the worst for me. I would call your surgeon to make sure everything is okay. I honestly thought I had made a bad decision getting the lap-band. Tomorrow will be one week for me and I'm feeling 95% great! I'm just a little sore in the port area. -
TO MUSH OR NOT 2nd week of being banded
BandedJenny replied to Eveandlauren23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tomorrow I start week two and I'll be having oatmeal! Gosh, I want food so bad but I too will stick with very soft foods for at least two more weeks. -
I got the call today! I've been approved!!! Surgery date is on the 16th!! Okay, I'm on my liquid diet, any advice is greatly appreciated!

stressfull wait
BandedJenny replied to Southern Leo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow! That's a very long wait. Is there anyway you could have the surgery somewhere else? I mean, anything could happen in a year and honestly, I've never heard of anyone waiting that long because of booking. I would really look into other options. -
Overnight in Hospital?
BandedJenny replied to Pamalamadingdong's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon requires that all her patients stay overnight regardless of health. She just rather be on the safe side. I'm scheduled for surgery on the 16th and I am staying overnight even though I'm completely healthy... just fat. Like others have said, I'm glad I am because I've heard from others that the pains meds you get through your IV are very helpful. Besides, I have two toddlers at home. There's no way they would just let me sleep/rest. -
I'm so excited, super nervous and can't believe the day is almost here! I go at 5:40 AM and I'm being banded at 7:30 am!!!!

The BIG secret!!
BandedJenny replied to carolann0117's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've only told a handful of people and I plan on keeping it that way. The only people that know are my husband, mother-in-law, sisters-in-law, mom, sister and very close friends. -
I've Been Appoved!! Tricare...
BandedJenny replied to BandedJenny's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats! Tricare said they would cover everything 100%!! I have it in writing, but even a $25 co-pay is awesome! -
No longer a Dec bander :(
BandedJenny replied to jdmerck's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh no, this really sucks! I know MRSA seems to be all over the place now. I have 4 friends that have had MRSA in the past three months. I'm glad they did find that you have it so that you can treat it. Once everything gets resolved, I hops your surgery goes well. What about MLK weekend in January? -
"What if I F*** it Up"
BandedJenny replied to krasc001's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Like Heather said, we don't want to be fat anymore! Also, I agree that once you start seeing the weight come off, it will encourage you to keep going and lose more weight. I've been told that a major part of success is support from other bandsters. Go to the monthly meetings and come on here whenever you feel you need some encouragement.
