    Fill and NO FOOD

I had my 1st fill todaqy also. But i knew i had to go back on a liquid diet after the fill. Its so the swelling will go down. Look at the bring side. Being on a liquid diet will mean more weight loss this week.
  2. I was banded Nov 19th 2010. I am scheduled for my 1st fill Dec 15th. I am a little confused on the eating thing. I was trying to eat 4 oz meals and was always hungry. So i went to counting calories. I am going to ask my doctor when i go for my fill which he recommends. I wanted to know what is working for you. I know every doctor says diffrent but just curious whats working and not working for others. I know i am hungry more since my band is empty. I was losing weight until i got on solids. I haven't gained any more back so im happy. But would like to start losing again. 4oz meals just wasn't cutting it. I have changed what i eat and how much. Any info would be greatly appriciated :0)

    NSV

That's awesome!!! I am 2 weeks post op. I didn't have any health problems going in but my mom is on her journey to getting lapband. Her insurance requiers her to do a 6 month diet. She can't wait for the day she doesnt have to take her blood pressure meds or check her insulin levels CONGRATS!!

    Pre -ope diet

Thats awesome you lost so much on your own. Are you happy eating what you are eating? I had to do a 2 week pre op diet and i did it without cheating once . I lost 15 lbs bu ti know that i lost the 15 lbs because i had to do the diet to get the lapband. Craz,y but i couldn't do it forever on my own. Been there tried that. Only you can truely answer the question can you eat this way forever. Lapband isn't a cure but a cructh to help .. Either way congrats and good luck ! P.s check with your insurance. I think my moms said she has up to a year to have the surgery after her 6 month monitored diet.

    Bad back pain

I used a heating pad in bed and it has worked wonders for my back pain. but walking helped some too. I had my period 1 week post op so that wasn;' very fun either. Sorry if ithat was TMI (too much info)
  6. thanks for all the feedback. I have been using the iphone app myfitnesspal it counts protien/calories/sodium/any excersise etc.. I have been trying to stick to 1200 calories but i get fustrated soemtimes trying to cram in protien and stay under. Im not a snacker really . The protien shakes are 110 and then a protien bar is 200 calories. I will talk more with the doctor when i go for my fill. Some days i eat a small amount and my stomach hirts ( like im over full) other days i feel like i have been eating all day and still hungry. But im still eating less than i did before the surgery so im completly happy with my choice to have the lapband!
  7. I was banded Nov 19th and went ot my post op today. I feel amazing! He asked if i wanted to get my 1st fill before or after the holiday. I of course said before. I need all the help i can get during the holidays. My only question i had for him was how much will he put in my 1st fill. He said about 6 cc's!!! Yeah 6. It didn't register right away. Now i am wondering why so much on the 1st fill. I'm not really complaining (yet anyways.) but from the site i have seen 1st fills from .5 cc to 4 cc. Does 6 CC seem like a little much? Thanks for any feedback and info. Looking forward to Dec 15th.

    1st fill question

I know all doctors are diffrent. He asked if i was going out of town for xmas. When i said yeah he said i needed to geta fill at least 5 days before i leave in case i need an unfill. He didnt want me sick while i was out of town. So i guess he is letting me get a fill a few days before my actual 1 month. I don't have any pain or soreness in my belly so thats a plus also. I have noticed the past few days that i am hungry even after eating so i hope this will help lots only 10 more days to go!

    Bruise Doesn't Go Away

I was banded on Nov 19th. All 4 of mine had bruises but 3 of the 4 have healed nicely. The last 1 looks more like a broken blood vessel so its kind purple. Could yours be a blood vessel and not a brusie. Is it sore to the touch? Mine isn't. Im not too worried since im only 2 weeks post op but sounds like it could be a broekn vessel.

    1st fill question

Hmmm makes me wonder. He asked if i was going out of town for the holiday and i told him on the 22nd. So he said make sure i see him on the 15th for the fill so i have time to come back if its too much. But now im a little worried. But hope it works well. I would rather take 1 large fill then keep going back for feeling no restriction. I will keep yall updated. Thanks for all the support on here. It's great to bounce questions off everyone.
  14. I was also badned in 11/19 and feeling great. I went back to work today. I stayed 1 night also. They said i wasn't getting enough oxygen when i was sleeping. I slept most of the time. But was up walking 6 hours after surgery. They day after surgery i went home took a nap then decided to ride with my husband to the park. Sat there for about an hour while the kids played. I am amazed at how well i feel .I hope everyone due to be banded in NOV has the same luck. Congrats everyone that has crossed over to post op !

    Don't know how to feel.

PCOS will effect her when you all are ready to have children also. You should voice your concerns to her but know that it isnt there for life. She she is having alot of issues with it it can come out. ( doesn't happen often). Also keep in mind she is young so the bigger problems are sure to come if she keeps gaining. I would say support her in what she wants but also voice your feelings also. There are risk both ways. Go to the consult or seminar with her. They answer alot of questions. The doctor telling her to stay away from certain foods. Everyone is diffrent and some people can eat the foods. Others just cant tolerate them after the band.

    Start early?

I started mine before i got date also. Which paid off for me. When they called to schedule my appt i got a date sooner. The diet isnt that bad for me. BUt i would love some rice or bread right now. lol:tongue2:
  18. Finally got a date. Nov 19th here  Doc has me on a adkins type diet. No sugar No carbs. day 3 so far. My soc scheduled me for the 19th knowing it wouldnt be a full 2 week diet.
  19. Hello all. I just got approved today! I am so excited. It was a pretty quick process but the last 4 days have been the longest waiting ofr the message to say approved!. I have to call my surgeon monday to firm up the date but shooting for 11/22 . I am going to start my pre-op diet monday which is no sugar, low fat, low carb. Im not too worried about it. Too excited for now. I am a mom of 3 and military wife. November is gonna be a great month!
  20. I asked my docotr for a referral in sept. I went to the seminar and 1st surgeons visit already. The last of my test are scheduled for Oct 20th.My insurance covers everything thank goodness. :) I go the 20th for a upper Gi, nutritonist and psych eval. Hoping for a Early nov banding. My insurance also fdoesnt ask for 6 month diet or anything. So it should be a fast process for me.

  21. I am still in the process. It's been pretty easy so far. Knock on wood. I went to the seminar, orientation, and 1st surgeon consult. I am scheduled for my psych, nutrition and Upper GI on Oct 20th. Then off to insurance. Hopeing to get banded early Nov. What about you?

  22. rhonda435

When did you get your date?

justa quick update. I didn't get my date. He said we can schedule a date as soon as the GI is done. So fingers crossed i will have by band some time in Nov. My GI appt is Oct 20th. Once it's done they submit to tricare. (which everyone says is super fast to approval.) hope so in my case as well.:thumbup:
  23. I have my 1st surgeon appt tomorrow. Wondering if I will schedule my surgery date tomorrow? I have everythi else scheduled already ( upper GI, psych veal and meeting with the dietition on oct 20th) I have tricare prime. When I went to the seminar they said the whole process with tricare can be done in about 30 days. So far everything has happened with lightening speed just curious to hear at what point in the process did you get your surgery date?
  24. Navy wife here with Tricare Prime. I just started the process also. I requested a referral from my PC doc about 2 weeks ago. They sent me to an outside doc. I went to the seminar and 1st appt where they explained tricare will cover it 100%. i have an orientation to go to monday that is where i will fill out all the medical release forms and get my psych and nutrition eval date set. after that all i have left to do is upper gi and meet the surgeon. They said the entire process for me will be about 30 days. Im a week in already. My husband leave for 30 days soon so i am hoping for a early november date. as soon as he comes back. We are stationed at Mayport. Jacksonville fl:wink2:
  25. Hello, Im Rhonda. I am in Jacksonville Fl. I am married and have 3 children. 4,6, 12. My husband is in the military so i play single mama alot. I am looking for a mentor to chat with along my journey. I just started. I recently went to the seminar and have a date scheduled to talk to the financial person. ( Insurance will cover it all but its 1 of the steps) They say since i have Tricare prime i can be banded in 30 days or so. I didn't think it would be that fast. But i have my seatbelt on and ready for the ride. I am currently 260 and my goal weight is 140. My personal email is Rhonda435@att.net if anyone wants to chat.
