Well i have begun adding my protein to almost everything trying to get my count up. i am able to lay on my side and sleep. i still have gas in my tummy a bit but i get to burp and tums really helps. I feel stronger everyday and thank God for helping me through this. i have wonderful friends here on this site and another that helps give tips and understanding. i also have friends here at home who have gone through this same procedure and check on me everyday! I feel blessed to be given this opportunity to use a tool to help me become healthier in my life. I pray all have a Blessed Christmas! God Bless!

i am just like all other pre-banders. Excited and nervous! I have had numerous surgeries over the past years so the sleeping part does not bother me but the last night it hit me that i was having the lap band put on because i finally realized i needed help to become a healthier person. I am good today! only clear liquids and no protein and tomorrow will be even better! Good luck to all the bandsters today and to all the bandsters tomorrow! God Bless and God Speed!

i am not allowed anything but liquids for the first week post op. then i can go to puddings and cream of wheat the second week. i was told i could have the skim/ff milk. but the milk is causing gas which i do not like. stomach gets tight and bloaty feeling. so today i went with clear liquids and have done much better. i will try milk again on tuesday and see if that will help if not i am going to go buy me some lactose free powder milk and mix it with my protein. i miss my milk and will eventually get back to drinking it. i dont drink coffee and have quit all caffeine and carbonated drinks. so i either drink milk or water with maybe some juice. juice seems a bit too sweet for me right now so i dont drink a lot of it.

go to bariatriceating.com go under shop protein powders. there is an unflavored powder that is so great. i mix it with chicken broth and juice. broth mixes out a bit cloudy but no taste. juice is milky but no taste. i would not use anything else. when i was seeing the nutritionist at the hosptial i asked if i could add my protein to my breakfast broth they were sending me. and it was heaven. give it a try. they also have different flavors as well. Good luck!

i was having major gas in my stomach last night. i started mixing my protein with broth and the bloating feeling has slowed down where i can do more. i am also 4 days post op. but today has been better and i have been able to lay on my right side which i love. i am a huge milk drinker and i was thinking about mixing my protein with powdered milk. i have a great protein mix with no taste and grit so i dont have to fight that battle but i get hungry and my first thought of is milk but it is not working for me right now. i am taking liquid tylenol because i dont like the effects of the prescrip pain meds from the doctor. just to help take off the edge of any pain while trying to sleep. things are definitely different on the post op side. but i learn something new everyday. i believe this journey will be a good one once i learn hot to manage things better. good luck and Merry Christmas!

i had surgery tuesday. and that has been something i have been dealing with also. i think i swallow not on purpose but just out of habit. but i have been blessed to be able to burp without to much pain. it is uncomfortable but disapates quickly. i have been taking tums to get my calcium in but also to help relieve some gas too. if there are any more tips anyone else may have i hope they post them. I hope you get some relief soon.

i am on the post op side now! really excited about this journey. a bit sore but nothing a bit of tylenol can not handle. Glad to be home. just need to start getting in my protein. Yeh Post op side!

Lap Band Surgery Day Stories
beckyrlnd replied to pennyt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i had surgery yesterday at 10:30 i got there at 1015 for an 1100 appointment and they pushed my surgery up. so i was not able to get nervous. so all i remember is waking in post op. i got me some nausea juice and finished waking up and was placed in a room. i really have felt reasonable well. as long as i stay warm i am fine. started walking the halls by two thirty was given some loratab that really helped. i could only have ice chips yesterday and began with clear liquids today plus ff milk. i walked pretty well and have not had a lot of gas. i dont feel bloated very much but i am a bit stiff and sore. i have been walking around today since being home but have laid down and still stiff. i hope to feel better tomorrow for sure. i am glad i am on the post side. i want to get my protein more tomorrow so i will start to feeling better. overall surgery was great. very minimal pain. Good luck to other bandsters. -
Thank you so much! i will definitely remember your tips. Cause i am all for minimizing pain if possible! Thank you again for your kind words! God Bless!

I wish i could have protein but my doctor said i could not have any on Monday. but Wednesday i will be allowed to have protein again. so i am going to be alright. just have to go to work tomorrow and pass by all the good Breakfast food tomorrow that the employees are bring for Christmas week. I think that has been toughest about the whole pre-op plan. i wish i could stay home tomorrow but i dont have that option. You will be pleased with the pure protein and their are other flavors too. i am going to get a vanilla and make me some milkshakes as a treat. Good luck tomorrow and i will be thinking of yall!

This is good stuff. i searched and ordered and returned till i found one i like. you will be pleased. i mix mine with broth and juice. it turns it milky looking but still no taste or aftertaste. Good luck. i have two more days of liquid pre-op then surgery on the 21st. on monday i am only allowed clear liquids no protein so my energy will zap i am sure. going from 60-80 grams of protein to nothing is going to be tough but i am going to make it. God Bless and God Speed on your surgery on Monday! I will be thinking and praying for all a good surgery and speedy recovery!

Ideas on handling Christmas while on Pre-Op diet
beckyrlnd replied to carolann0117's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
we just had our family Christmas dinner at my mothers. i am not going to say it was not tough. i just had me a juice and protein and said to myself it will be okay and you will get through it. now everyone tried very hard not to eat dessert in front of me, but i did not ask them too. i say during the dinner while everyone ate fish , since i dont eat fish that did not bother me, but the desserts was a bit tougher. you have to keep your eye on the goal and now it is best for you not to endulge. Good Luck! -

Protein shakes- UGH!!!
beckyrlnd replied to riverat's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I found an awesome product at bariatriceating.com. today was my first day to use it so i was a bit nervous. but you go their site and click on shop and protein powders. it is called BE Pure Isolate Protein. IT HAS NO FLAVOR AND NO TEXTURE. No Fat no or low carbs (i dont have the package in front of me). It mixes with anything. I promise. i drank it with chicken broth for lunch today and it turned it a little milky but no bad taste or grit. I praised God for this. Cause i did not want to drink a RTD shake. they are too thick and too sweet. please give this site a try. they have other flavors also. But i know that i would not make it through this pre-op plan without it. Good luck ! -

I start the PreOp diet today!
beckyrlnd replied to Swan56's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck! i am 1/2 way through and will be banded on Tuesday! This site is very supported and you will find awesome ideas on how to deal with this. Good luck again and have a great evening! -
my surgery is scheduled for one week from today also. i am excited and nervous also! This is going to b great thing for me. i will be healthier and slimmer to boot. looking forward to all the things i used to do. this preop plan is for the birds. i am trying to use mind over matter and stay focused that this is a temporary thing. A friend of mine at work came by my office and copied an article for me on the Spirituality of Fasting. So i am giving this to a more higher power to help me conquer some of my hunger issues. I hope all goes well for everyone and it seems the 21st of December will be busy for quite a few of us.

i was beginning to look for calcium supplements also. Bariatriceating.com has lemon custard flavored ones. along with chocolate and caramel i think. i was going to order and try that. hope this helps! and give feed back on any new finds you come across.
