it gets better. just think of this as a fasting meditation time and it will pass by quickly. Good luck and God Bless! -
i was craving mexican too. i took the ff refried beans and put a can rotel tomatoes with it. heated it up and added a bit of cheese. i have an emersion wand so i pureed it up and enjoyed the best beans of my life. it took me a couple of days to finish it off. but i enjoyed it. 1/4 cup at a time. i made some taco soup for my family and i pureed it up also and added some protein powder to it and was in heaven. granted and i say again it was 1/4 cup at a time. i was full and satisfied. just be careful corn does not puree really well so i had to take it out. but i pureed everything my family ate. i have begun cooking on the light and low fat side. they dont know it and eat it up. Good luck on satisfying your cravings!

Vitamins and exercise????
beckyrlnd replied to b_r's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor put me on two childrens chewables and 2000 mg of calcium carbonate (4 - tums or 2 - ultra tums) a day. i make sure i get my recommended amount of protein - minimum 60 grams, for my energy and it also helps keep from losing hair. Good luck. just remember every doctor is different on their requirements. -
i was a bit nervous today about my first post op visit. i had figured i had lost some but not even close to what showed on the scales. i was banded on the 21st. the last weigh in was on the 15th (286). I have lost 13 lbs since surgery (273). yipppeeee! the visit was wonderful. i got to talk to the nutritionist. about a snack between lunch and supper. i got to eat my first scrambled egg today and it was divine. after our dr visit my husband and son wanted chinese so i looked at the buffet and looked at the menu and spotted egg foo young. scrambled eggs with veggies. they brought out 3 huge patties. i got less than 1/4 of one patty down and i was full. it was the best scrambled egg i have eaten. granted it was fried but sooo goood. i brought the rest home 1/4 it up and vacuum packed it for a quick lunch to take to work. that is what i am going to do with my doggie bags that i bring home from a restaurant. then i have mini lunches to just grab and go. i hope everyone else has had a great 1st post op appointment. tomorrow will be my first day back at work. Good luck and God Bless!

beckyrlnd replied to GardenGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am doing GREAT! i had my first post op visit. i am down 13# since surgery. So i have lost a total of 26# from Sept to now. Really excited. Soreness is pretty much gone except in one spot. The port site is still a bit tender. but livable. First day back at work is tomorrow. so excited. Vits and supplements are going down great. i am so enjoying being on soft foods now. i look forward to the rest of the journey! God Bless everyone! -
Can you share what kind of supplements are you taking after the surgery?
beckyrlnd replied to carvey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
only thing i have taken since surgery dec 21st is 2 childrens chewables. 4 regular tums or 2 ultra tums. i do supplement with protein supplement. All is good. i dont get sick and have great energy. Good luck on your journey! -
i told the Put to Sleep doctor i get nausea when i wake up so they put plenty of good stuff in my slush so i would not get sick. my doctor also prescribed before surgery a anti nausea pill i had to take 3 hours prior to surgery and then made me take an alke seltzer tablet 15 minutes before surgery. i have not experienced any nausea yet. i am like you i hate throwing up and would do anything else to keep from it happening. just tell the doctors and they will take care of you. Good luck on your decision making. It is one that will change your life! God Speed!

How to deal with friends?
beckyrlnd replied to MaineJackie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i have the same situation with my best friend and my Cousin in Law. My best friend is at least trying. but due to a family issue with another member having bariatric surgery with a fatal result she almost refuses to look at this option. Which i completely understand. She said she would come and check on me but she didnt and took over a week for her to even text me about how i was doing. my Cousin in Law has not spoken three words to me since my surgery. i just encourage them in their decisions. But i made this choice for me and me alone. i am the one that has to look at myself in the mirror and be proud for my small goals to becoming a healthier person. now granted i have gotten down on myself but i think everyone goes through that stage. but i am doing this to be healthier and be there for my family without being out of breath or popping pills for pain in my joints because i can not hike or join in the activities my family is doing. no way! not any more. Be proud of what you are accomplishing and be patient with your friends. Love them unconditionally. God bless your decision for being a healthier you and Good luck on your journey. -
Please drink as much as you can. even if you do not want to. it is soothing to the stomach and helps your body heal. incorporate your protein also in any means possible. Body can not heal without the protein either. you will become stronger and healthier quicker if you can get that in as soon as possible. Good luck and i hope you have a speedy recovery.

i have not weighed myself since my surgery. kind of funny. we have a digital scale and my husband asked me the other day what i weighed i told him i did not know. he asked how come. i said the batteries were down in the scale and i have not bought any. So i have used the battery excuse for about 3 weeks now. i go to the doctor tomorrow for my two week post op visit. i hope i have lost some but i do realize it may not be alot. But please check your batteries because when it begins fluctuating with different weights the batteries may b bit weak. Good luck on you journey!

i have noticed my hunger is coming back. the swelling around the band is loosening up. So i work really hard not to over eat. i have really enjoyed my refried beans purreed of course with rotel tomatoes with a bit of cheese also. very flavorful. i have been able to tolerate liquidy grits with a bit of butter. if i dont have that for breakfast i have an instant breakfast with protein added and ff milk. i will be glad when i get to have an egg. i have been getting up every morning since i have been off recooping and fixing my family breakfast. eggs bacon biscuits. tough but i refrain. tonight i made taco soup with corn bread. but i got 1/4 cup of soup and pureed it and enjoyed about half of that. really nice. i am beginning to sleep on either of my sides and that is a nice victory. my clothes are starting to get really baggy so i will begin looking for smaller sizes soon. (i hope.) I really have enjoyed the blogging on the post. great ideas and great ideas on food. next week when i get to eat soft foods i found a recipe for crab meat deviled eggs. i look forward to that. God Bless and God Speed! Happy New Year!

Heaven, I'm in Heaven
beckyrlnd replied to beckyrlnd's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i really eat slow because i dont want to get overly full and i feel how it goes down. the last thing i want is an episode of any kind. what i do find myself doing is eating too quickly. i have to really so down more. i do still suplement my plan with a protein drink. now at this time i can consume carbs as long i dont crazy. so i mix my protein with an instant breakfast mix with ff milk. now that gives me 37 proteins but also 39 carbs. i will not be able to do this after i really begin eating food. so instead of an instant breakfast with my protein i will prolly use chick or beef broth. lower caloric intake great flavor and low to no carbs. my protein is tastless and blends really well. the broth looks like a thin gravy. but my doc said i could eat as long as the consumption is low which it is not taking much to feel me up and i have not been snacking between meals. i feel very blessed. i get great advise from this site and bareatriceating.com. so listen to your body to determine your fullness. Good Luck and Happy New Year! -

i am five days post op. and most of the discomfort is gone. i do have tenderness. i can not lay on my left side yet. that is coming though. i am looking forward to my journey. i have to prepare ahead of time to make sure i eat properly and get my protein in. i am almost at my 60 minimum. so i will meet that within a couple of days. i take water with me every where. looking forward to taking this journey with all the December bandster. This is exciting and i cant wait. Good Luck and God Speed! -

5 days post op and made it through Christmas!
beckyrlnd replied to amber2604's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i am 5 days post op. i am on clear liquids and can move to full liquids with a bit of texture Tuesday. They said on Tuesday i can move to Cream of Wheat and pudding if it is soupy enough. nothing really thick. I been getting my protein in my broth by adding my protein powder so that really helps. i too made it through 2 Christmas gatherings and it was tough. i had to get up and walk outside. i have been able to handle it so far but we were having spaghetti and garlic bread and i had to go. they were cooking it while we were there. but i just went and walked to get them smell out of my nose. i told my husband i was hungry when i got home. i drank me some juice and went to bed. i feel better this morning. -
Do you wish you brought more
beckyrlnd replied to Southern Leo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i brought an extra change of clothes because i had to stay over night. but one thing i could not have lived without was my pillows. that was the first thing i asked for when they rolled me in my room. and it made a big difference. i was comfortable and felt more at ease. i did bring to much i had all my reading material for this surgery a bariatric book that i loved to read because it has recipes, so i had an extra bag with that stuff. then i left with a duffle bag full of stuff from the bariatric clinic and hospital. but if you are an overnighter bring your own pillows it will be the best decision you have made. smell of home and comfort. what could be better. God Bless on you surgery! Merry Christmas to all! -
i get that too! it is a bit uncomfortable but i too kind of move so i can burp and go on with activities. i was banded on the 21st so i am finding out new stuff everyday. Good luck on you recovery! God Bless and Merry Christmas!
